My 2006 Prius with 206k miles is making a loud buzzing/grumbling noise when I press down the brake and periodically when parked. It's coming from the general area of the brake pedal, under the steering wheel. See video for a recording of the sound:
View 2 RepliesI've a UK 2004 gen ii with 69000 miles on the clock. When coming to a stop and also when at a stand still if I press down the brake pedal I get a rather loud creaking sort of noise. I guess that's friction brake related as no noise with using brakes when driving. Also a high pitch squeal when driving and turning steering wheel slightly to the left that stops when you press the brake pedal.

No lights are on other than the maintenance reminder light as I currently have 57000 and waiting a little longer before I bring it in for the 60,000 check up.
View 4 RepliesI can press on the brake pedal when car is off or on and there is a kind of quirky sound made. I can hear a pump sound and then a squeaking or quirky sound. It happens every time I press the pedal when it is stopped, either on or off.
View 2 RepliesFor the past few months I've been hearing a loud fan-like buzzing noise coming from the passenger side of the front of the car. I don't know that much about cars, but it almost sounds like the engine is racing or something is spinning too fast. It has gotten increasingly worse, and seems especially loud at high speeds on the highway.
It is not the heating/cooling fan - the noise is present when the heating/cooling system is turned off.
On my 2007 Prius, when I depress the brake to power the car on, it makes a simple, almost welcoming humming/buzzing sound. However, if I do it again within a couple minutes (for example, if I turn the car on to pull up, turn it off, and turn it on again), the noise when I depress the brake is different. When I press it down, it will make no sound for about a second or two, then make a deep 'thud' sound.
View 3 RepliesMy 07 prius with 190k started shaking violently when going down hill if I press the gas or brake at all is goes a way suddenly, this happens only around the high 40's to low 50 mph range and once at 75, this happened just after my tires where balanced and rotated brought it back they re balanced them and said they balanced out perfectly and the problem still protested. I drive on dirt roads all the time and i hit a big pot hole earlier last spring but the issue just started after the balance a week ago.
View 13 RepliesI replaced rear pads with akebomo and installed centric premium rotors but in the morning I hear a very loud noise (as loud as as a steam locomotive :-) for the first few times I press on the brake, then the sound goes away. After that, no hissing sound all day until next morning.
I used a brake silencer spray on the back of the pads but to no avail. I had the mechanic lube the pins twice but in vain. Noise went away for 3 days and came back.
I was told to go with OEM pads with shim. I was wondering if this the correct solution and where is the best place to get those OEM pads?
I have a 2007 Toyota Prius. When I press the brake pedal and press the start button the engine does not start or the wheels are not powered by the battery. It gives me the following errors:
The indicator in the Start button lights in Amber Color.
0 kmph mark is not activated in the dash board pannel.
When I shift the gears it only shifts to neutral ("N") gear.
I cant move the car forward or backward. An error message is displayed in the MFD in Japanese language. It is in Japanese and I cant read the error message.
In the past few days, our car (2006 Prius) has begun making some louder-than-normal noises while driving. I've determined that the noise appears when you turn the wheel at all to the right (note: not just making a right turn...any degree to the right past straight is enough). It seems to be constant when the car is running, but really only becomes perceptible around 30 mph. The sound is sort of like a buzzing. Maybe a grinding, but not quite. It sounds like it might be similar to this issue (2006 Engine Noise - buzzing, especially loud on highway | PriusChat), but I can't quite be sure.

View 6 RepliesI have recently started to hear (at frequent intervals) a loud buzzing sound that can best be described as a phone vibrating/buzzing while its on a table. The sound happens every few minutes and is pretty annoying. It seems to be coming from around the navigation area or glove compartment - i cant pinpoint it. I turned off the radio and AC and the sound is still present. My Navigation Wood cover has been STUCK for a few months (doesn't come out and shut nor tilt) but not sure if that is the cause here. What can be causing this sound?
View 14 RepliesFor several months now, my 2007 Prius has been making an intermittent buzzing sound from the engine bay. When I first heard it, I thought I had hit the little lines they cut into the road to let you know you've drifted over the center line - the sound is like that, a low-pitched buzzing noise. Today, the check engine light came on as it was making that noise. I put a code reader on the car and got P1121, a bad coolant flow control valve. Wondering if the sound and the faulty control valve are just coincidental or if the valve might make that noise when it fails? And if not the valve, what the sound might be?
View 19 RepliesA few months ago, my car started making a loud whining/buzzing sound when I started it. The sound is distinctly coming through the speakers in the car, but turning the radio volume knob doesn't make it quieter or louder (though turning the radio completely off makes the sound stop). The sound persists until the car warms up, then the buzzing sound slowly fades away, and the voice/song on the radio slowly comes back until the buzzing sound is completely gone.
I recently took my car to a mechanic to have the timing belt and head gasket replaced, and the mechanic couldn't figure out what the problem was. What could be the root of this problem? 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5 ...
My left headlight has been going off periodically, so to confirm that it's the bulb, tonight I switched the bulbs from left to right/right to left.
The job went very smoothly. It took me about 20 minutes, but I took my time. I buttoned everything back up and turned on the lights. Both sides came on, but I immediately noticed a very loud buzzing/whining sound coming from both headlamps. It is very loud and I know I would have noticed it before at some point over the course of the last three years that I've owned the car. Obviously, this is not normal, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I could have done wrong, if anything.
I have a Toyota Corolla 2010 LE. When I'm driving, no matter how fast I drive, I feel a vibration sound. When I press brake pedal, it's worse than driving. I recently replaced front rotors and brake pads. I also replaced whole tires a month ago.

View 3 RepliesI've been having an electrical issue for the past few months that I've decided to address now that the weather is getting a little warmer.
What happened is the left turn signal was blinking fast, so I assumed bad bulb, and later that day it stopped blinking fast and now I press the lever down to indicate a left turn and there is a quite loud buzzing sound. Sounds like it's coming from where the relays are, but I've replaced them and the bulbs and still nothing has changed.
I've also replaced the multifunction switch to see if that was an issue, but a new one did the same thing so I returned it.
Running lights work all around, but now there are no left blinkers, and also my left brake light doesn't come on. Pulling a trailer I have the same problem, I had the plug tested and only 3 of the pins have anything to them.
I know nothing about auto electrical systems.
On a recent road trip, my 2009 Prius began making a loud dragging sound. Pulled into a car dealer at the freeway exit (Mazda) and found the black plastic shield on the front bumper had cracked down the middle and was dragging. I had them remove it to finish my drive home; my question now is, what should be considered a fair price for having this replaced? Last fall, I had a minor accident and had to have body work done on the hood and front fender; should I have the body shop that I used check it out, or stick with the dealer? I'm wondering if the shield might have cracked in the accident and was overlooked. As a single 50-something female, I just want to know what a repair like this might run, so I don't get taken for a ride.
View 7 RepliesI'm having several problems, and I'm wondering if they are related: Sometimes the heat/ac/vent blows on the windshield instead of where they are supposed to be. Occaisionally it works at first, and then changes after a few minutes to blow onto the windshield.
Sometimes I get a buzzing sound under the hood. Usually when I'm stopped, but sometimes while moving. The car idles high when this happens. If I tap the accelerator, this usually stops the noise and the idle drops to normal.
This morning, the brake warning light kept coming on while using the brake. The fluid level and pedal are OK, and the car stops OK. Then the buzzing sound came on, the engine light came on, and the brake warning light went out at the same time. The brake light hasn't come on since. The scanner tool indicates the IAC was running too fast.
