View 6 RepliesI took the plastic cover in front of the radiator off to clean the radiator and condenser. It directs air through the condenser before it gets to the radiator and I was wondering if it would cool the engine without it (if you don't need real cold ac air) . Without it the air can go over the top of the condenser and it is still blocked by the flap that stops airflow above the radiator. Also, I am wondering if the fact that the condenser has nothing in it affects the radiator cooling, and is it bad for the AC system to be empty. (My AC doesn't work)
View 7 RepliesMy umbrella and few other items stowed in prius for some months now has a strong plastic/rubbery prius smell. How do I stop/reduce the smell at the source? There seems to be some discussion on its origin but no mention on how to reduce this.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2012 Prius. I occasionally will clean the wheel wells, as I live on a dirt road. I have found that there's a plastic cover inside the left rear wheel well, at about 2 o'clock as you face the wheel. It seems to be loose.
View 3 RepliesI just joined up after purchasing a CPO 2010 Prius IV. Love the car but after taking a closer look I noticed that one side of the bottom black plastic cover was drooping on one side. Upon closer inspection I noticed that there was a screw and plastic Grommet combination that was not locked into place. After unscrewing the screw, I tried to put the grommet back in place but noticed that it couldn't fit because (I believe) the white bumper portion where the grommet goes broke off. I compared it to the other side of the car and yes it does seem like part of the plastic top portion that is connected to the bumper broke off.
I inspected the bottom some more and it seems like there are a good number of screws missing and a large plastic piece that is the front tire well is also very loose.
I opened the hood today to install the Carbon Fiber logo and noticed that the plastic cover sitting on top of the radiator was loose. That's when I noticed that the 2 clips holding the plastic cover were broken.
View 3 RepliesNoticed that my drivers side back up plastic cover is cracked with a small hole in the top. Would like to RTV the damaged area to seal it but I need to remove it to make the repair. I've pulled some of the inner plastic on the door but can't get at the back up plastic cover.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 prius with a misty gray interior. Accidentally when getting out I scuffed the door and on another occasion I scuffed the plastic molding by the gas tank lever.
The scuffs are black marks and they bother me every time I look at them. Is there a way to get them out? I tried rubbing them out with some cleaner on a paper towel but no luck.
How can i remove the allow wheel cover off my 2011? i see their are 3 places where u can insert a flat screw driver, but i still cannot get it off. I don't want to break it.
View 5 RepliesHow do you remove the top steering column cover? This is the plastic piece immediately toward the front of the car from the steering wheel. It covers the steering column and is not part of the steering wheel. Part number is 45286-47040-C0 and the parts breakdown doesn't show any fasteners, it probably has some tabs that need to be released, but where?
View 2 RepliesI recently bought the PriusLock and I just cannot figure out how to remove the lower dashboard cover. I remove the 2 screws as directed but cannot seem to get the lower cover to come lose ? Would like to know if there is something else like a tab that I have to press or release before the cover will come lose. My husband and I have tried "yanking" it pretty hard and it's still not working.
I have a 2008 prius with smart key system (not sure if the smart key system changes anything as far as the installation goes).
I am trying to remove the engine cover on the passenger side of the engine bay so that I can access the power steering fluid reservoir. What is the procedure for removing the plastic clips, rivets or whatever they are and also how do you reinstall them? This is a hair brained design if I ever saw one!
View 14 RepliesThis morning after pulling out of the garage, i notice a small wet spot on the floor, went to see what it was and it was oil, its was a wierd shade of red/orange and very clear, def not engine oil. Then looked under a car and saw it where it came from, front driver side, there is a some kind of plastic cover, it was collecting there then dripping out. I can see the oil dripping on the plastic cover when looking from the engine bay? What can it be?

View 2 RepliesI recently removed the top plastic cover on my '05 Camry LE V6 to pull a plug and inspect/decide if I was going to change them out. While I felt I was being careful handling the plastic cover, I grabbed it by the access hole for the oil filler cap. Walking back into the garage, some black carbon came off, and looking at the bits on the ground, and what was left on the inside of the cover, I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a gasket there.
Maybe it was just an accumulation of spilled oil over the years that has trapped and "cooked", or something put in place to capture spilled oil. I scraped the rest of the carbon off using a razor blade and cleaned it up before installing the cover.
Having problems with sunroof cover making noise when going over bumps? It just sounds like the plastic is making all the noise.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry XLE V6 that needs new spark plugs and the first thing to remove is the plastic engine cover. I do not see any screws or bolts attaching it down and I would like to know the proper way to remove it without damaging it or the plugs holding it down. How to do this?

View 4 RepliesHow to remove the plastic engine cover that covers the engine? I'm know some of them are just held in place with friction plugs and only require a good tug, but I've thought that about other things in the past which have resulted in expensive noises.
View 8 RepliesI just took delivery of a 2013 Lexus GS 350 all-wheel-drive. I have the luxury package which includes the large display screen in the center of the dash. Unfortunately the plastic cover over the navigation screen is dirty on the inside. How to remove the plastic cover on the center display?
View 11 RepliesI noticed green coolant leaking from bottom of black, what I think is called, timing belt cover. There is 188, 000 miles, and when I changed the timing belt, I did not change the water pump, although I did change out the thermostat. I have done a lot of work on this truck in the past. I checked the oil and no signs of water or coolant mixed in. The water pump is not weeping from the top well. I rely on this truck and the way I look at it is I may just keep driving it until it goes kaput (its real beat up). Should I go to an auto parts store and see if I can buy some sealant. I would guess it is either the water pump or maybe the timing cover gasket? I have inspected all hoses, and I see nothing. The leak must be coming from somewhere under that black, plastic cover. I am capable and willing to do just about anything other than perhaps a full engine pull, although I have the wherewithal to do that too if absolutely necessary.
