How to change the level of the driver and/or passenger seat (not the back of the seat, just the seat height itself), or is it impossible?

View 6 RepliesI am figuring out a possibility how to lower the seat lower for those that are a bit taller?
View 8 RepliesI've already raised up the front of the seat with thick nylon washers, but the back needs to go down more now. I'm 6'3" with a horrid back and long legs, and there simply isn't enough thigh support. (down near the knees) I need the seat to be dipped low in the back and high in the front to be comfortable. Most cars allow for my preferred position in their normal range of adjustment, however the Camry does not. My head grazes the ceiling as it sits now.
How to get that bracket chopped down about an inch? Should I flatten it out, then drill a new hole?
I'm really open to anything, even unorthodox methods, as my comfort in this seat is more important to me than how the finished product looks to a rear passenger...as long as it's still a strong mounting point.
If your experiencing a clicking noise coming from the lower right side of your driver seat, more noticeable over rough roads with pressure applied to the backrest, read on. After much trial and error troubleshooting, here's what worked for me.
I removed the tension on a small clock like spring located on the driver seat back right side pivot point. Since having done so, no more annoying clicking sound and I haven't noticed any difference or adverse side-effect in seat operation /adjustment. I've got photos....
Past couple of weeks, when i drive car 45+ speed,I can hear wind sound from inside car even after closing all windows , i am getting sounds from next to driver seat upper side speakers, I tried 4 to 5 repair shops in mira mesa(san diego).
View 14 RepliesI have a very interesting situation. When I'm driving, I periodically hear a doorbell-like "ding-dong" noise from under the driver's seat. I believe it only happens when driving past one spot. I brought the car into the dealership for service and mentioned this; the service tech said the only thing under the seat is the Navigation unit, but the sound happens when I am not using the navigation unit. It's not my phone or the radio or any personal electronic device. What the heck is this noise caused by?
View 2 RepliesMy driver side lower beam (projector) will go out after a couple minutes when its turned on. If I flip the switch to off and then on, it turns back on again. Is this a sign of it going out? I am assuming i have the HID version.
View 9 RepliesThe 02 I bought at salvage, drove home but now sits in the driveway stuck in park.
I consulted my owner's manual (for an 03) and found the info on the override button under the driver's side lower panel. Well, I didn't find any small postage stamp sized tab down under the steering wheel adjuster as it shows in the manual. There is a small, postage sized, louvered plate directly underneath the gear shift lever. There is something attached electrical behind it that I saw when I dropped the lower panel.
Is that the switch or am I looking for another beneath the steering wheel ?
I looked over at my car and noticed the driver's rear side of the car sits lower than the other. I tried turning the car around to see if it was the driveway. It was not. I parked the car flat and took a tape measure and measured from the ground to the uppermost part of the wheel well and the rear drivers side is 2 foot 2 inches, the rear passenger side is 2 foot 4 inches. So the one side is sitting 2 inches lower than the other. Could it just be sag from the roads/ only having one person in the car, I'm not light either. Have 56k on the car.
View 7 RepliesI have begun to notice that when I start my van each morning for the first time that it is reving at a higher RPM then it did back during the winter. During the winter it may have been around 1000rpms at start before lowering down after a few minutes. Now it is starting at about 1500 and then returning down to the lower level after a few minutes of warming up. Could the change in outside temps cause this?
View 3 RepliesI rented my car for a few days on Turo and it returned with this problem. The renter says nothing happened, who knows. When I raise or lower the window, there is a loud pop/crack that happens. It always happens at the same height. I can raise and lower the window for a couple inch around that point and reproduce that sound everythime.
View 6 RepliesI have been adjusting to my newly bought 08 prius that has 191,000 miles on it. I don't have a lot of historical service data on it but I had it looked over by a mechanic and all it all its in great shape for the miles. Now focusing a bit on the inside I feel the driver's seat is a bit uncomfortable.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius IV and recently experienced the following:
a. I can't open door by just pulling handle nor lock all doors by depressing door button. I must use the UNLOCK/LOCK feature on the FOB
b. I can't start the car remotely while sitting in driver's seat. FOB must be inserted in slot to start car.
c. I have strong mini-RED light indication on my FOB which should indicate proper battery power.
I love my Ex and I love my dobermann, but the two did not mix one day. In a matter of seconds, he almost chewed completely thru the driver's seat belt. Guess he thought I was taking too long to get out. It's basically hanging on by a quarter inch of fabric and seriously needs replacing.
I figure it can't be that hard to replace myself, but I cannot see how to remove the molding/housing that hides the mechanics of it all. I've been searching for videos, but none of them are for the Ex. :
How I can remove the housing and change the belt myself. Looking for a video or pictures.....
Looking for recommendations for a well fitting seat cover for this series of trucks? My driver's side is tearing (12 years of people dragging their rear ends across it will do that) and the foam cushion is starting to lose small pieces. I try to stand on the running board when getting in/out to minimize wear on the seat, but I'm just delaying the inevitable, not preventing it. I bought a set at Autozone, but it's going back because it doesn't fit properly and that makes it look, well, kind of tacky.
I've tried a few local scrap yards, but nobody has a matching seat in my interior color that isn't already wearing out. Autozone or any other retailer just carry universal fit covers, which don't fit well enough to look appealing. My only other option is to have it re-upholstered, but I have a feeling that might be on the spendy side.
My 2007 Prius drivers seat height adjustment is not keeping steady. That means when it's adjusted to the highest level slowly it comes down after couple of days.
View 1 RepliesI've noticed that when the Prius is shut off a few minutes later you hear a clicking noise from under the drivers seat. Sounds almost like a solenoid. It only happens when the car is shut down.
View 2 RepliesStill haven't hit 1000 miles on this Prius v and continue to have issues. Tonight, when I shut the doors, especially the drivers side, there is a rapid vibration under the drivers seat, but outside under the car. Any door does it, but especially the drivers door. If I shut the door very softly, no vibration. It's loud and lasts maybe a second, vibrating the entire time. I drove down the road and back. Same problem. It has never done this. I see nothing loose underneath.
View 5 RepliesI have a '10 IV and my drivers seat clicks in the middle of my back. It seems that it may be the top of the lumbar cushion going bad.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2014 Prius v that I bought new in January 2014. I've had this persistent rattle which seemed like it was coming from the back seat behind the driver. I've taken the rear seat partially apart and glued and shimmed things to no avail. I've emptied the entire contents of the rear storage area and it still rattled on. Anyhow I've had this rattle for six months now. Turns out the noise is coming from under the car just ahead of the rear tire where some body type plastic which juts down about 2". This piece rattles when against the frame just ahead of where one would put a jack for lifting the car. I've temporarily stuffed some old paper napkins, which were handy, between the plastic piece and the frame. Noise is gone! I'll eventually remove the napkins and then load up the area with silicone. I'm doing both sides of the car just in case.
View 6 RepliesI have an 04 and the airbag light comes on when started and stays on. I noticed when I start it without sitting in the drivers seat the light goes out. It will illuminate again when I sit or apply pressure to the seat. I looked up the component list on Sewell's website and there is a airbag seat sensor under the drivers seat. My question is it seems to be the issue however it also seems to be working to pick up the presence of a driver. I have an aftermarket warranty that a Rep says it doesn't cover???. I'm assuming if the light goes out without weight on the seat should I replace the sensor? Or is there a "bladder" under the seat cover that may need replacement?
