I have a 2007 package 5 and one of my headlights occasionally flickers and goes out, but if I turn the headlights off then on it comes back on for a bit til it turns off again. I just got this car used, and I am wondering if this is normally how these lights act at the end of their lifespan or do they just burn out for good like a regular lightbulb.
View 5 RepliesAbout two months ago, one of our two headlights was out. I came to Prius Chat -- of course -- to find out if I had to buy the super expensive ones from the dealer. Everyone seemed to agree that the best bet was to buy them from Amazon. We did. The dealer charged to install them and it was quite a task, things had to be removed and I didn't watch, so i can't be all that specific. At first he thought he could just stick them right in, but then quickly realized it was the kind that are difficult to replace.
So fairly soon after this job was done, my husband -- who is the 99.9 percent of the time driver -- noticed that they both just went off. He drives a windey mountain road in the dark, so this is not okay. However, by merely switching them off and then back on again, the problem went away. I worry that this could get worse. Last night, I was driving the car in the night and had been on the road for at least 20 minutes or so, when they went off. I turned them off and back on, and all was well. So, what's up with this?
I have a 2007 Scion TC. Sometimes the dashboard brake warning light will turn on for a few seconds and then goes off. It happens after the brake is pressed at a traffic light or stop sign, a second or two after releasing the brake pedal and accelerating. The sometime the dashboard brake warning light will switch on for a few seconds. It seems to occur more often when the outside temperature is cold. Also when the car is cold. I had a oil change and lube and they said the brake fluid level was ok.

Sometimes what i have to do is turn the car off and press the panic button, disarm the alarm and then restart the car for the cluster to light back up. Ive taken it to the dealership a couple times already but every time they have the car the problem doesn't occur.
View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a 2011 Sonata GLS and I love it. However, I'm having a slight electrical issue.
While driving at night with the headlights on occasionally they'll dim and flicker and often cut off completely while driving or parked. The interior and dash lights will also switch off with the headlights, however the radio will still continue to play. The lights only stay off for a second and then come back on. Sometimes I can make them flicker and go off by turning on my blinker or switching between high and low beams.
I'm trying to figure out if it's a problem with the alternator, the battery, or the fuses and if this is a known issue.
My 04 Toureag has one headlight (low beam) that flickers on and off. I can shut the door and it will flicker on. This happens both for daytime running lights as well as regular headlights. It also at times registers on the dash that a light is burnt out. Yet all the lights are on and working.
View 1 RepliesI have a new-to-me (2 weeks) 2004 Prius, and my wife has noticed a weird behavior on start up which I have not been able to reproduce.
Occasionally when she starts up the car the brake light comes on as if the parking brake were set. The ready light will not be on. No other warning or error lights come on. If she turns off the car, and then turns it on again the light will be off and not return. Tapping or setting and releasing the parking brake has no effect.
She swears it has nothing to do with her pushing the parking brake or not pushing the pedal brake. This seems to have started after I set the parking brake one afternoon, but that could also be coincidental.
I can hear a strange noise from the front occasionally, independent to my operation. It sound like rolling a cassette tape in a old driver. The sound repeats every several minutes, and lasts about 5 seconds each time.
When I standing outside the car, it hears louder from under the bonnet.
My car was working fine except for occasional no dash lights. Unfortunately where my dash lights don't work sometimes I can't see my gas gauge and I ran out of gas today. I manage to make it to the gas station on battery power I presume. Filled the tank up with 11 gallons and the car seemed to work fine for the remainder of my trip(about 5 miles). So I parked at my destination and went inside for 30 minutes and then I went back out and started the car. I attempted to clear the out of gas error code and all of a sudden a whole Christmas trees of lights popped on my dash. I rescanned and these codes were read out

History : I had the coolant pump inverter changed 2-3 months ago by a mechanic and hybrid battery and battery ecu changed 2 years ago by myself.
I have a 2006 with 142k miles. Sometimes when the engine shuts off, its not as smooth as it used to be...any thoughts?
View 3 RepliesI keep blowing the fuse to the headlights. When low beam is on, the right blinker flashes the low lights. When high beam is on, the blinker works. when I turn on the low lights, my cluster light indicators show the right blinker dim and the high beam indicator light is also dim.
View 1 RepliesI was recently in a rear-end crash. The body-shop presumably disconnected the battery, fixed the rear door, and then re-connected the battery.
Now, however, the Navigation screen just flickers.
If I press Info, Audio, or Climate, the screen is just fine
If I press Menu, Dest or Display it flickers.
(Curiously, if I press Info, Audio, or Climate AND THEN press Display, the DISPLAY is fine)
Took it to the dealer, who said it was a coincidental to the body-shop repair.
My '08 radio has developed an intermittent problem. When I get in my car on a hot afternoon and start it up, occasionally I lose control of the panel buttons - power, station up/down, input select, disk eject, etc. But, all of these controls work just fine on the steering wheel control. If I cool the interior down and then restart the car, everything is back to normal, all buttons work. What this might be? It's only happened twice, but I want to be able to speak intelligently to my service advisor when I report it next visit.
View 3 RepliesI have a 201o Prius with the stock stereo (no nav system). When it's hot outside (100deg+ F) and I get into the car, often the stereo display will flash and the unit is inoperable. Then, all the CDs are ejected. After I turn on the AC and the interior cools down, I can press the power button on the stereo and it comes back to life.

I can't find the dual anchors for the infant seat base; I know I feel dumb and I'm sure the dealer can show me how to access Blue Tooth connection; Phone screen flickers on and off see attached images. I lose the ability to dial number or access contacts
Phone is connected the whole time. I've deleted and added the phone several times. I am using Samsung Infuse ATT

I bought two new factory fresh speed sensors to replace the ones. So, after work tonight I get the car up on jack stands and replace both sensors in about 45 minutes. Get it off the jack stands, torque down the rims and reset the dash lights. Nice clean dash display with no warning lights.
I drive it down the street, nice speedometer display and then, after about 100 yards, the warning lights come on and the speedometer flickers from 22mph to 2 then 10 then 1 then zero. I drive it back home, check the sensors and the connections, reset the lights again, drive it down the street and, same story.
I have a 2007 Prius and my driver's side headlight is out. From what I've read, the HID lights are difficult to replace. How do I tell what kind of headlight I have? I want to make sure I am getting the correct replacement bulb.
View 5 Replies2004 F250 v10 xtl 260xxx. Started off by using my remote start, truck started up ran for about 5 sec then shut off, then restart itself and shut back off. When I manually started it, it ran fine. I noticed my battery light was on and as I was driving it would flicker. First thing I did when I got home was clean all my connections to see if that worked. Battery light still on, checked my volts on my battery and they were at about 11.8 with a slow but steady drop while truck was idling.then checked my alt, that too was at about 11.9 with a stead drop.
Alt was only about 7 months old and I had a warranty on it so I had it replaced at Napa and had them test it there. Good alt. Installed the new alt charged up my battery and turned it over. Battery light still on and flickering. Checked all my wires for corrosion, checked all my grounds. Everything checked out. Checked my battery again 12.4 with the truck off, cranked it over and it was back at 11.9 with a steady drop and almost the same reading with the alt. I replaced the battery as well yesterday, seeing how it was about 7 years old.
2004 Prius. Sometimes, quite randomly, the headlights will turn off. Sometimes its both, sometimes its the left only, and sometimes its the right only. This affects both main and high beams. The dash lights and tail lights may still be on (panicking doesn't give me time to confirm that), but for sure the Nav panel is still lit.
The first time this happened was when I was driving on a mountain road at night in the rain. It now happens almost every night and I have confirmed that it also happens in daytime. Road conditions (bumpy/smooth, wet/dry, dark/well lit) do not seem to be a factor.
At least once while still in my garage, when I started the car the left light was out. I can get the lights to turn back on by turning them off all the way and then back on. Nothing else works. I have replaced the relay for the lights - that didn't change anything.
I have a 2005 Toyota Prius with HID headlights. One of the headlights intermittently went out and I decided to replace both headlights. I installed Philips DR2 headlights. I successfully installed the passenger-side headlight and checked it and it worked well.
I then proceeded to install the driver side headlight and realize that I installed it upside down. I adjusted the headlight but forgot to plug the receptacle back in before checking the headlight. When I turned on the headlights I heard a sparking sound. Now the passenger-side headlight will not turn on, but the driver side headlight does work. I tried to replace the passenger-side headlight with a new bulb but it still will not work. I also checked all the fuses, but they seem to be okay.
