Prius (2004-09) :: Headlamps Appear To Be Foggy
Jun 25, 2015
My head lights appear foggy all the time. it is my feeling that headlights are not powerfully shining the lights on pitch dark roads. I paid $60 for a headlight clean at Toyota dealership, later realized it is a rip-off and I can get cleaning solutions at Walmart for $10. Even after service and cleaning, it appears dull. what is the solution?

My 2005 Prius' headlamps are pointing down. What do you call that part located near the rear left wheel that levels them?

2011 Prius has about 85K miles on it, and we have gone through about 8 pairs of running headlamp bulbs. I called the dealership and they said that there is no known issue for this. Sure seems like a voltage regulator-type issue. Is it possible that a single wiring harness can affect both left and right? It's strange, because if the left one blows today, the right one will blow within a day or two. I've tried every brand of bulb, and no, I do not touch the glass with my hands.

My headlights are getting foggy and I don't feel like polishing them anymore. I had it done about year and a half ago and the yellowing is coming back.
I heard TYC replacement headlights assemblies are decent and they are cheap.
How's the fit/quality etc, specifically on gen 5s?
I am talking about straight replacement retaining the OEM function. Not into HIDs and all that stuff at all.

Having a problem with the windshield getting fogged up at three or four areas at the bottom, when the air is on?

I got off work at 4:30 pm the other day, and came out to my new (for me) 2009 car, and the front windshield was foggy. No other windows were foggy in my car, and no windows were foggy on any one of the 50 cars in the parking lot, b/c I checked every one as a slowly cruised around the parking lot before I left for home.
I'm 55 yrs old, and have never had a car do this on a sunny, warm day, in late afternoon, with relatively low humidity in the outside air. The windows were rolled up, yet that should not have been the main source of the problem. The windshield was not a little foggy, it was completely fogged up.
It had also been foggy that morning, but so were the other windows, b/c it was a cool, clear morning, and at 7:00 am on a morning like that, it is expected to have some window fog...but not at 4:30 pm after it's been sunny all day, and become warm!
What could cause this?...a windshield that is not sealed properly, or what? I did use the defroster that morning, and it worked fine, btw.

So my headlights are foggy, I've tried the DIY to fix it including wet sanding and using the plastic polish but within a few days it just goes back to normal... What I could be potentially doing wrong?

it used to be that whenever I cut my car off the headlights would come on and as I exit the car would remain on for 30secs per. The setting for departure/arrival lighting.
Last night I they suddenly stopped doing that. When approaching the car and unlocking with key fob the lights come on. But no longer do they stay on when exiting the vehicle which was a nice feature at night. I have confirmed my settings are in tact so maybe I bumped something I don't know. I spent a lot of time In my phay last nite waiting for people and parked and moved several times.

When one of my non- HID headlamps burned out, I replaced both headlamps with PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs. Now, however my passenger side projection has lost it's "focus." There is plenty of light, but it seems dispersed and people who have driven in front of me comment that the light seems to be pointed downward. The reflective surface inside the lamp appears to look fine. Can the headlamp reflectors go bad?

2003 xle with foggy headlights. Bought some aftermarket units.
Looking for the straight skinny on getting them out. Some have told me I have to drop the front bumper. Seems extreme to me.

I have a 2010 Sonata GLS 4 cyl and I have a problem with foggy windshield (on the inside). I have noticed it now and temperatures outside are about 85F with 70% humidity. I don't use AC, I just use defogger and my windshield gets foggy.
I also see water underneath the car coming from the front side, I am not sure if this is related. I googled a little bit the problem of foggy windshield and some say it could be broken heater core. Do you think it could be heater core?

I have a 2011 Sonata 2.0T. My headlamps intermittently cut out. The dash indicate that the lights are on when they are not. Both High and low beamare affected. Possible connector or ground problem? Where is the ground?

I recently lowered one of my client's 2008 passat and since then the xeon headlamps are pointing way too low. I did the manual adjustment with the allen key screws but I'm at the maximum on the adjustment so I'm sure there is a way to compensate with recoding the motor. I have VagCom but I can't seem to do a recode. What is the procedure?

I did not find a solution to my 2011 Elantra GLS's windshield fogging up when it is raining. Other vehicles I owned would clear the foggy windscreen by simply turning the fan on the windshield setting. No A/C necessary.
However, when the Elantra fogs up while driving in the rain, it requires that I put the A/C on (not in recirc mode) to clear the glass. After it clears, I shut-off the A/C to conserve fuel, but after 30 secs or so, it begins to fog up again.
There is no apparent water in the car, or wet floormats, so I'm wondering what could cause this?

My 2006 Mazda5 has a problem with burning out low beam headlamps. Both sides, but at separate times. I've replaced 8 bulbs in the last 18 months of ownership. I had the wiring harnesses replaced 5 months ago to correct the issue and each side has burned out again. What else should I be looking for?

Our 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, with 227,000 miles, recently started to fog up inside everytime we drive it. The dealership cleaned the sunroof drains thinking that was likely the cause (although, the car is always garage parked). That did not resolve the issue. We have to have the defrost on full blast to be able to see out the windows, and still we need to roll back windows down to wipe condensation to see out of them when making a turn.

My 1995 Ford Taurus wagon has just developed a starting problem. When the air is damp and foggy, it will just crank but won't start. It has 177,000 miles on it and has always started right up. What could be causing this new problem?

I've had my new Touareg for less than a month, and only had one problem so far, my headlights. On 2 separate occasions after parking (daylight, only my DRL was on) and turning off my engine, the first time, the headlamps remained on and the other incident, one blinker light remained on and had "frozen".
I made sure that all the light switches were off (even turning them on and off), made sure the hi beams were off, keys were out of the ignition, even tried turning the engine on and off. Eventually lights turned off after restarting the car the 4 th time.
Now, I wonder with all these "battery drain" concerns? an unchecked headlight/or blinker (during daylight you can miss this, and no warning signals from that the lights are infact on).
