My driver side headlight and tail lights are not working. The brake lights and turn signals still work. I checked all of the fuses and light bulbs nothing is blown. It did rain yesterday and it looks like some moisture got into the driver side headlight, not like a pool of water just some condensation on the lens.

View 19 RepliesThe brake light on the driver side doesn't work. The center window brake light works as does the passenger's side brake light. My first thought was the bulb, but when I just have my tail lights on it works just fine. From what I can tell it's obviously the same blub so I don't know where to go from here. The fuse that controls the brake light also controls all of the brake lights so I don't think that would be it since only one side is out. Trying to avoid going to the dealership if I can.

Last week both brake lights (just the upper, red part) stopped working.
A day later the right/passenger side light came back on.
Then the next day, the left/driver side light resumed working too.
Today both went out again.
Then the right side came back on.
I took the car in for 10,000 service. Drove it home and discovered I lost headlights, taillights and instrument lights. Checked interior driver side fuse box and all are good.
View 1 RepliesSomeone told my wife yesterday that her parking lights/tail lights weren't working in her 2004 Prius. When you turn the switch on the stalk one click, only the license plate light comes on. No parking/tail lights come on in the back, and the little lights above the headlights don't come on. Turn the switch another click, and the headlights come on. The brake lights work when you hit the brakes. I checked the fuses: the owner's manual doesn't really match what is in the car, so I checked a lot, and the ones I checked were all fine.
I used up all my diagnosing time deciphering the owner's manual and figuring out the fuses, so I didn't check the bulbs themselves yet (and now it's late, dark, and cold) but it seems really unlikely all 4 of these lights are out at once. Someone else in the forum had a problem where their parking lights only came on when their high beams were on, so I tried that, but that didn't make mine work. There's no history of mysterious electrical problems or collisions. I am able to do some DIY maintenance, and replaced the MFD twice, but have a healthy respect for electricity and don't have any tools beyond a voltage meter.
I have a 2008 Generation II Touring Edition Prius. Someone informed me that my passenger side tail light was not working. I ordered some red LEDs to replace the suspected burned out bulb. When I opened up the trap door from the inside of the rear and when I checked on the bulb, it lit up. (Thought that it had loosened itself?)
When my LEDs arrived, I unplugged the bulbs (right and left) and attempted to replace the old bulbs. The LEDs would not light up. And now the bulbs will not work either.
I went to the auto parts store and bought replacement 2825 bulbs. No go. Is there a fuse that may have blown? Or ??? I don't have a tool to check for voltage - what is my next step?
Late last night as I was puling up to park in front of a dark restaurant, I turned off my headlights so I would not blind the people inside. This is a 2010 Prius III.
When I left and tried to turn them back on, only the drivers side parking light (the small white one above the headlight) and side marker light worked. Passenger side nothing works, however on both sides the high beams do work.
I have a 2007 Prius with HID lights. A few months ago the drivers side headlight would randomly go out. If I turned the lights off, then immediately back on, sometimes I could get the light to turn back on. Recently the passenger light started doing this as well. I'm wondering if the bulbs are going bad, or is the ballast going bad? Is there an easy way to check?
View 19 RepliesRecently I noticed that my passenger and drivers side tail lights do not get brighter when I hit the brake. However, the center LED lights still are functioning properly. What might be wrong and how to fix it? I thought it might be the break light switch based on what I have read, but I would imagine that the center LED lights would be messed up too if that was the problem.
View 2 RepliesThe rear tail lights on my truck have been out for a while now. I wasn't doing much driving at night so it wasn't much of a bother but the new job is getting me home a little later and having to drive with my hazards on is getting old fast.
My radio wasn't working either and I disconnected it a while back hoping maybe it had something to do with my lights shorting out but no luck. It remains disconnected. Just in the past few days my front running lights have went out as well.
I've tested all fuses multiple times (and replaced a couple of them) and checked and replaced bulbs. My brake lights, headlights, dash lights and hazards all work fine. I have the trailer light hook up on the rear bumper and disconnected it at the wiring harness as well hoping it was the problem but it wasn't.
Prius 2004 with 86K miles. My brake led light on the driver side stopped working completely the other day. For some time now (6 months) i knew the top led of the brake light was not working, but yesterday I discovered that the whole led is failing. tail and parking light on the same assembly are working fine. I pulled off the plastic door inside the trunk and I checked connections for faulty ones but everything was tight in its place. Is there anything else I can do before preparing to go to the "butcher" dealer?
View 3 RepliesI recently got a used 2007 prius as my first car; Unfortunately today the drivers side lock has stopped working. when trying to use the smart unlock, the Prius would beep many times, and the drivers door would not unlock (or lock for that matter). After getting into the car (with the mini key) I noticed that the inner lock button does not lock or unlock that door either.
All other doors function normally. The lock can be manually operated, so it's probably not mechanical.
I own a 2008 Prius Touring and originally it was only the passenger headlight that would go out but since I've had it replaced not only is the driver's side going out and flickering but the passenger side still shuts off! If I get the driver's headlight (which is very old) replaced will it solve the problem? Is it a deeper problem? If so what is it and how do I fix it?
View 1 RepliesThis issue came on suddenly. I unplugged the license plate lights- fuse still blew. I don't know where the wire harness is for this group of wires going to these lights to check for frayed or melted wires. I don't see any damage any where. I am severely limited for funds for a mechanic so I need to try and figure this out first myself. Looking for pictures of how I can traces the wires through the car?

View 4 RepliesI just bought a 97 Dodge Ram 1500. The Tail lights work when I just have running lights on, but don't work when I pull the light switch out far enough for the headlights to come on. Also, and probably related, the dashboard and radio lights don't work at all. I replaced the switch assembly already and that didn't fix the problem (i didn't use the supplied wiring though, only the switch). The previous owner used it to pull his boat so the rear end may have been backed into the water. The brake and reverse lights.
View 3 RepliesI have two questions on changing the driver's side headlight on my 2008 Toyota Prius.
1. Do I have to turn off/disconnect the battery before doing this? Or as long as I have smart key off, lights off, car not on is that enough? If I do need to disconnect the battery/etc., how do I do that?
2. I have seen some tutorials on how to do this, but after I take off the circular black weather-protector cap it is hard to get it far enough out so I can work around in there. There are a couple cables/cords/bands (or something like that) right next to it. Is it risky to try and push it out more or is all that stuff pretty durable so I can pull it out more without worrying about disconnecting stuff?
1998 Honda CRV ... Had my engine repaired....Everything seems to work but discovered my headlights and taillights won't turn on. The signal lights work fine.
The mechanic says the lights are not burnt out ... so the light switch must be damaged. He did not mention any fuses or other causes. So I buy another light switch (the light switch/signal light combination stick on left side of the steering column) and install it but they still don't work. It seems really unlikely that all 4 fuses (2 x each head lights + 2 x each taillights) would blow all at the same time.
What could be causing this? It seems really simple like they forgot to connect some wiring harness somewhere but the mechanic didn't mention it the first time I took it in for the problem.
2013 SE 2.4 ... I am away from my car. Should be home Tues afternoon. When I left 7 days ago at 6am, I had no headlights. The light on the dash was on and all the other tail lights worked. Before I had to leave I quickly looked for the headlight fuse(s). Where to find it(them)? I may have to drive home after dark and will need headlights.
View 10 RepliesI have a 99 Passat 1.8T and the left taillight was out. It was the fuse and I replaced it, however when the headlights are on the brake lights and 3d brake light is on as well. Is it a short or something else.
