View 4 RepliesI have a 2010 ford f-150. My fuel door swings loose and the cover came off on the highway. Where I can get another one? I need to replace the whole thing.
View 2 RepliesRecently I have been doing a lot of highway driving with my 2007 Prius. There is noticeably an excessive amount of wind noise at highway speed due to the gap between the front and back door.
After applying a piece of weather stripping from the hardware store, about $5 the wind noise is greatly reduced.
I cannot lock my prius hatch door. It will shut but the lock does not engage. Apparently the lock is broken. Can I order the part and have a mechanic friend do it for me as Toyota want to charge $200 to install it. The part from Toyota is $210.
View 3 RepliesWhen I close my boot door, I am finding I am having to slam it shut because it keeps bouncing open. I've take my car too toyota and they come out with, I have to have front car door open for it to shut first time, (but it still bounces bk open). I personally think its the boot catch not working as it should...
View 7 RepliesI'm loving this 'new' 2004 prius with 177k miles on it that i just bought. In New England winters I'm still getting 40-45 mpg and I'm not even trying to get great MPG's.
1.) Wind noise : My biggest disappointment is excessive wind noise over 55 mph. I 'm using this car as a taxi and its so loud inside I'm a little embarrassed with customers in the car. It sounds to me that its coming from the passenger window or passenger side near the windshield, but I can not identify its location at all. I've always been the one driving when looking for it though.
I called a dealer that sells lots of gen II used prius's and he says its fairly common to replace the window seals? The car has a clean car fax.
2.) Mild clunk when the engine kicks on. Not all the time, but sometimes : Other thing is, I can sometimes feel and hear a mild clunk when the engine kicks on. I also feel a little bit if vibration when the engine is on and i'm idling (it was 16 degrees last night so the engine stays on for heat). The oil level is good. I'm due for change in the next 500 miles.
Is this anything I should be concerned about? I'm sure I'm just overly sensitive.
After 3 years and couple months my red prius in faithful service, i finally got by the wind noise everyone is talking about...
At first, I suspected the license plate frame was the issue and also checking around the front end to see if there's are anything that stuck in the bumper gap, wheel wall, and underneath the car but the noise still there.
Finally today...I do actually found it...I tested by either removing or putting on a new 3M tape over one of the screw hole underneath the door site mirror. Over time, some will peel off or break losses and the "gap" is the source for the high pitch noise when you driving fast enough on a road. Mine happen at around 55mph.
Ever since I remove the sticker, the noise gone. One thing I'm not sure why there are factory stickers there. But I decided to remove it because I saw water inside the 3m tape after raining.
When I have the A/C running in my truck it idles at like 900 RPM's if not 950 RPM's. It also doesn't appear to sweat like normal vehicles do. Most every other vehicle I've owned sweat when running the A/C it does but just not a lot. I hear it hiss like the drip is hitting something hot when I shut the door on the truck.
View 1 RepliesJust recently in the last month (owned the car since aug 07) I have noticed large amounts of wind noise around the driver side door. At first I thought it was on just windy days, then it started to get worse every day. I'm taking it in to vw to check the seals around the door, but I'm not real certain this is the issue since after visibly inspecting the car the seals look pretty solid
View 12 RepliesHaving persistent wind noise from around the driver's door right at the "A" pillar. I've been to two different dealerships with no resolution. I don't need any home remedy solutions as I've done just about everything humanly possible to fix it myself. Tape, 1/4" vinyl tubing, foam insulating tape, moving the door striker nothing works. VWOA is now involved and they are clueless as well.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2012 Santa Fe and during the last cold spell, both myself and passenger felt a lot of very cold drafts entering the car through the door handle and door switches.
View 3 RepliesOk so long story short, my Viper 2 way alarm, instead of the brain being wired to each of the 4 doors individually, the installer ran 1 wire to the dome light. seems to work fine as far as arming/disarming/locking/unlocking, but since the dome light stays on for 10 seconds or whatever after the door is shut.
When I arm it, the 2 way remote says "door open" because the light is still on so it thinks a door is open. this eventually times out and all the sensors arm, but theres a long delay. it arms fine and no alerts pop up if i lock the doors first from the outside keypad on the door, making the lights go off, then hit arm on the viper, and everything is good to go.
can i change it so no matter what, as SOON as i shut the door, the light goes off? i want there to be NO delay, if possible. if not, i may need to just have the installer run a wire to each door and take the single run to the dome light off, as it is sorta annoying to me.
Notices such a noise from the rear passenger side door (same side as the fuel cap. Also experienced this same window 'malfunction'. Lowered it partially and then auto-rolled it up. Instead of auto-rolling up to a close, it rolled all the way up and then all the way down where is stopped.
View 4 RepliesI am almost 100% I have found the source of the rear wind intrusion that some of us are hearing. From day one, I have had a wind hissing noise from the rear door windows. After taking it to the dealer and them saying it was "normal", I have been on a mission to find the source of the noise. Well it is coming from a location that I never thought it would come from.
After trial and error, I found it is coming in around that shinny black triangle part in the rear door. There is a gap between the rubber and that plastic shinny triangle part. I used shinny black pinstripe that I got from an auto parts store to cover the gap. I test drove several times at speeds above 65mph and did not hear the noise. Unless you were looking close, you'd never know the pinstripe was there.
I have intermittent excessive wind noise from the top of my passenger door. The dealer claims they can't hear it, so I will take matters into my own hands. The driver's door was not aligned correctly when I bought the car but the dealer adjusted it correctly, so I am wondering if the passenger door could just be too far outward. Other than adjusting the door striker inward are there any other adjustments or is there a common issue that could cause the wind noise?
View 24 RepliesOver the last 6 months I have had my car back to the dealer to look into wind noise and a knocking noise from the door mirror. At first they just kept saying they couldn't find anything wrong, then they said there was a fault report for the mirror and had the car in to get it fixed, but the noise is still there intermittently. After numerous returns for the wind noise I noticed that if I push on the door or the window it gets noticeably louder - the dealer took the car back in and said they adjusted the door but I still have both noises - they are intermittently better or worse. What the cause is - the dealer has suggested changing the door seal but wants me to pay for it and I am concerned I will end up paying out and still not get the problem fixed. As for the mirror I just don't know what to do....
View 4 RepliesIt makes me a wind noise in the driver's door from 120km or 75 miles an hour...
View 1 RepliesHave little wind noise on the driver side door up by the top. My wife's 2010 elantra has it and dealer couldn't hear it.
View 5 RepliesI have been experiencing a terrible wind noise coming from the door seal, it is intolerable and I just can't believe it is normal. I can hear it coming from the passenger side as well, but not nearly as bad. If I press against the area while driving, it will stop. It occurs at any speed north of 60mph.
Here is a picture to illustrate where I am talking about. I can take closer shots, this was just a photo I already had on my computer.
I was wondering if the wind noise problem and the door creaking are both problems resulting from the doors on the 2-door models? I only ask because I'm about to go in for my 3-month courtesy check and wanted to get it checked out.
My doors creak a lot and it really annoys me when I drive at low speeds with the radio off. The wind noise isn't that big but I do notice that there is a lot of wind noise coming from my sunroof rather than my windows/door.
I get a little bit of wind noise from the drivers door. Upon inspection, I noticed that the drivers door sticks out a little bit more than the passenger door when it is closed. In other words, the passenger door window from is flush with the adjacent trim but the drivers window from is maybe 1.5 mm out. I suspect this may be just enough to cause the slight wind noise.
