There's an ad for a car quite far away from me and one of the photos shows the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Is this normal during power-up or is it normal when there's something quite wrong?! There is no red triangle of doom shown; I'm unsure if that might be out of shot though. Car is quite high mileage with just over 270,000 km on the clock and is from 2006.
View 2 RepliesI have an 04 Prius that recently had the HV battery rebuilt with replacement of a couple of cells. It now is showing dash lights of Red Triangle, Small Exclamation, and VSC. Error codes are coming up on techstream v9 as :
P3000 curr
P0A84 hist
C1310 curr
C1311 curr
(all 4 of the above have asterixes by them )
B1421 curr (no asterix)
The car is running perfectly and seems to be fine.
I replaced my hybrid battery of my NHW10 a year ago. now recently it shows the warning triangle. Once it went off after a long drive but now its permanent. is there a way to Diagnose what is the cause of this? If its a Hybrid battery issue, will it go off if i replace the bad cells?

2nd rebuilt (Dorman) battery installed July 2015 - Failed October 2015.
3rd OEM (Toyota) battery installed October 2015.
Front end alignment (stay with me) May 2016.
Intermittent Red Triangle of Doom June 2016-present.
Installed Camber kit (yesterday...)
After I realized that I could duplicate the conditions for the triangle appearing/disappearing (brake/veer left to make it come on, accelerate/veer right to make it go away), I relaxed on the urgency of getting this addressed. After all - if the triangle goes away, there really isn't much of an enduring problem (I thought).
Brought the Prius to Legacy Toyota (Tallahassee, FL - BTW, I have only good things to say about this Toyota dealership) and the mechanic and I replicated the conditions while the Toyota diagnostic computer was attached.
Yesterday my 2005's check engine light and triangle of doom came on. Even when I fully depressed the gas pedal, it would not drive faster than 35 mph. While waiting for the tow truck, I read the diagnostic codes. They were P0A80 and P3014. A search on Priuschat showed that the first code is the Traction Battery. Is that the same as the hybrid battery pack?
View 12 RepliesI took my car to the dealership because it had the red Triangle ! wanrnning on the dash and the red car ! warning on the display panel. They told me the code was P0A82 "hybrid battery pack cooling fan 1 performance / Stuck off" but it was actually working at the time the mechanic looked at it.
He said it would probably need to be replaced anyways so they wanted to replace it. I told them I would wait, so they cleared the code for me. I read a lot of posts of people having the same problem and they fixed it by cleaning the fan. My fan was a little dirty, but not bad at all. Is there a quick way to see if the cleaning fixed the problem?
We're on a road trip and the alarm tone goes off. The dash displays the brake warning and the red triangle (and the touchscreen has a car outline with an ! in the upper left). Also, the cruise control no longer operates. We return to El Paso and the dealer utilizes several hours and two diagnostics to tell us the Hybrid ECU needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, they can't get our Prius back to us until Monday, the day we are supposed to be back home starting work the next day.
We plan to call the other dealership in town in the morning. But is it safe to drive our Prius in this state? Can a regular garage make the repair? My father-in-law, an automotive repair professional back in Missouri, says that he isn't surprised if an ECU needs to be shipped from a Toyota distribution center since the part isn't regularly kept in stock by an auto repair shop.
My 2006 prius started beeping and showing multiple warning lights - The big triangle with the exlamation, Brake System Warning light and Check Engine light on the dashboard. On the main screen the hybrid system warning icon popped up.
I asked from a toyota service place and they said this might be due to multiple reasons (they didn't mention exact reasons) and will cost a lot of money. I've been checking some posts and found some advice regarding the inverter cooler. I checked the coolant container for "waves" as instructed by this post Suddenly hit with multiple warning lights! | PriusChat.
I can see the coolant moving when I turn the car on. What other reasons that can cause this issue?
2007 Prius 215,000 miles. Car has been a champ for the almost 2 years I've owned it, buying it with 150K miles. No real troubles and I've been driving it constantly as you can tell. Had an extended warranty repair done back in the winter when dash lights went out completely yet car would still start & run. Replaced 12V battery back them trying to diagnose trouble and it was original battery anyway. Daughter was driving when almost all dash lights came on including the red triangle. She came back home, turned it off. Next start was just red triangle and check engine light with red car on center display. Now it's just the check engine light and red car after sitting for an hour. I plan to take it in to get check engine light checked out.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius with 107K miles which I had taken off the road for about 2 months. Car ran fine previously. I just replaced the old 12v Battery with a new Optima replacement battery, changed the oil and filter, and have 1/3 tank of gas. Inserted the key into the slot, foot on brake, pressed the Power button, and, just about every warning indicator light is On (Brake, Red Triangle, Check Engine, (!), ABS, VSC, Traction Control) and the yellow exclamation mark with "Problem" message appears for a second on the Display, then a Red Car (!) appears in the upper left-hand corner of the display. Car will Not go into Drive or Reverse, and engine will not run, even when gas pedal depressed. Am I doing something wrong, or did I let the car sit too long?
View 11 RepliesI was driving last night and my car Triangle Warning Light and Check Engine Light Went on along with on the nav screen a car with a ! mark in it came on. On The info screen the battery level was changing fast from fully charged to just about empty. The car lost almost all power going about 42 miles an hour. I was able to pull to the side and i waited 10 minutes then tried to turn the car on again. I was able to drive home and the warning lights were still on but at least my car had power. What could possible be wrong?
View 19 RepliesI was driving down the highway today and the brakes light (!), vsc, and master red triangle warning lights came on, along with a car with an ! in it on the main display screen. There is no noticeable difference in noise, mpg, or breaking performance. From reading through previous forums a bad 12v battery seems to be a common problem. Mine was replaced ~8 months ago. About 2 weeks ago the serpentine belt snapped and the car was drove ~2 miles to my home where I replaced it along with the bad water pump and also the thermostat. Could that have caused my current problem. 130k miles on the car...
View 6 RepliesI own a 2005 Prius with 233K miles. I got the terrible red triangle of death and several other warning lights. Had the codes checked out at Toyota and confirmed a bad HV battery. I am kinda handy and I replaced it myself. No big job, it took about two hours, most of which was spent removing the interior panels, etc. Test drove the car and all looked well. Thirty or so miles later, BAMMM, lots of warning lights. At this point I took it to my mechanic to have it checked out. They found nothing you wouldn't expect when you've disconnected the two batteries.
They cleared the codes and off I went. Again about thirty miles out the lights went on again. Back to the garage once again. What they found was a corroded connector running to the fan, located under the rain gutter of the hatch, passenger side. Hmmm, how'd that get corroded?? Two years ago I remember drain the sump where the spare's located of 6 inches of water, how'd that get in there??? My mechanic confirmed he has seen that before in the Prius. So now I am wondering, did the initial battery fail because the fan may have failed??? Perhaps we need a warning light.....
I have been having some hybrid battery issues. My prius is a 2006 with 198,000 miles. The original battery was replaced at around 120,000 with a junkyard battery. About a year later that battery gave up the ghost and I decided to rebuild that battery. So far that has worked quite well until recently.
My troubles started a couple weeks ago when I got the Red triangle and all the dash lights and the hybrid system icon on the MFD. Naturally I thought it was the battery again. Took it out and checked the voltages of the modules. All the modules where within tolerances. I grabbed a OBDII scanner and checked the code. It was telling me that the Hybrid current sensor was bad. I changed that out with the wiring harness from the old battery.
That lasted for a few days before the red triangle came back. I checked the code and it was indicating one of the blocks was bad. I think P3019. So I took the battery back out and replaced that block with other modules. Almost instantaneously the red triangle came back with two more bad blocks. I think it was P3012 and P3022. So I took the battery out once more and tested all the voltages of all the modules. Everything was 7.86-7.9v. So I decided to start the rebalance of the existing modules in hopes to find some bad modules.
I also bought a new 12v battery and installed that. I got everything back together and took it for a road test. It took about 30 mins before the triangle came back. I grabbed the codes and it was still indicating bad blocks. P3011 and P3018. I am a little at a loss.
My 2005 Prius with 116K on it has been having some uneven acceleration lately and today the Triangle warning light, the check engine light and the brake light came on at the same time. I had about 1/2 mile to go, so I proceeded slowly and called the dealership which had performed a routine oil chg two days ago. They said that if the lights weren't flashing then I could drive it. They recommended that I take it to AUTO ZONE and put it on the analyzer. This elicited these codes: P3019: no definition and P0A80: replace Hybrid Battery.
I have an appointment in 2 days and I'm wondering about a salvage HV battery since the car is 7 yrs old and over 116K miles.
So I was driving home last night and went to accelerate and it felt like something slipped, lost acceleration and the red triangle of doom popped up. car worked fine for about 15 seconds then just the electric battery was being used.
Drove about 100 feet then got no response out of the throttle for anything. Had to push it the rest of the way home.
Towed it to dealership, been there for 3 hours and they still haven't found the point of failure. Once they give me diagnostic codes I will post them.
I had just picked my kid up from school, as I turn out of the parking lot my A/C stops blowing cool air, I check the A/C screen and it still says it's set on High with temp at 68. However, it is blowing very low with warm air. Seconds later the dash lights up with numerous warning lights. I'm on the highway and I'm able to gather speed, but each time I do I hear the engine revving like crazy. We only live a few miles from the school so I am able to make it home. Once home, I turn off the car and turn it back on. The only warning lights displayed now are the red triangle and the yellow check engine light. I turn the car off, pop the hood, I check the belt and it was fine. I checked the oil and it seemed fine. I check the coolant overflow and it was empty.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 Century that show ABS and No Trac warning lights. I use an electrical cleaner spray (without lube) on the front passenger side ABS connector spraying male & female ends. The warning lights don't reappear and brakes seem to function normally.
Then a few months later the same warning lights appear, I repeat the spray and everything seems to return to normal again. This process has been going on for about a year.
