Prius (2004-09) :: Cannot Turn Off The Car

I'm going in tomorrow to the dealer to have the combination meter replaced under the ZTV warranty. I pulled into my driveway tonight and I can not turn off the car.

View 12 RepliesBought 2005 new, Bought 100,000 mile warranty. At about 90,000 miles had a problem. Dashboard lights did not come on, rear hatch would not unlock, car would not turn off, key would not come out. Dealer could not figure out problem. Problem happened intermittently, Took it in 3 times, Nobody knew what to do but finally they replaced a computer somewhere in the dash I think. 2 years and 70,000 miles later the problem has started again. 2 years ago dealer said techs had not encountered with this problem. Hard to believe it is only my car, twice!

View 4 RepliesOur Prius had been sitting all week because it was out of inspection. No problems like what I'm about to describe. We went to take it to get it inspected this morning and it wouldn't turn on. After monkeying around a little it kicked on and off we went. On our way home we stopped at a store and had no problems. We checked the energy display and the battery symbol was fine. We got home, shut the car off, went to lock the doors and nothing would happen. We attempted to start it again and it was completely dead. No error messages, no beeping, no nothing. I read that it could be the battery, but everything had been fine until we shut it off.
View 4 Replies2004 Prius. Sometimes, quite randomly, the headlights will turn off. Sometimes its both, sometimes its the left only, and sometimes its the right only. This affects both main and high beams. The dash lights and tail lights may still be on (panicking doesn't give me time to confirm that), but for sure the Nav panel is still lit.
The first time this happened was when I was driving on a mountain road at night in the rain. It now happens almost every night and I have confirmed that it also happens in daytime. Road conditions (bumpy/smooth, wet/dry, dark/well lit) do not seem to be a factor.
At least once while still in my garage, when I started the car the left light was out. I can get the lights to turn back on by turning them off all the way and then back on. Nothing else works. I have replaced the relay for the lights - that didn't change anything.
Both key fobs are acting the same way. The car wont turn on unless the key fob is in the dash. the rear hatch won't open unless the unlock button it is pushed twice then the rear hatch can be opened.
I did some searching and its looking like the 12v battery could be causing this. its an 3 year old optima.
Also we had about a 7-8 mpg drop on the last tank of gas.
car has 122k on it. its an 2007.
We love our 04 Prius (190K, still original brakes, etc.). Today we encountered a strange problem. My wife was driving and pulled into a parking lot. She could not turn the car off , remove the box key, or shift out of neutral. No warning lights.
After about 10 min. the car would drive again. We've now cycled about 5 times (i.e. driven somewhere) and it seems OK. We replaced the 12V battery a couple of years ago and haven't seen any problems in that area.
My front windshield wipers seem to have gone kaput. I went to clean the windshield yesterday, and while the fluid shot out freely, the wipers didn't move. I tried intermittent, frequent, etc, and nothing got them to move. The back wiper works fine. I restarted the car, checked to make sure that nothing was blocking movement, and still no movement.
Which fuse controls the wipers? Before I head to the dealer (it's been 5 weeks since my last visit), I'd like to see if a blown fuse is the cause of the problem.
Our Prius has been like this since the day we bought it (used.) The A/C will only work sometimes. It won't ever blow hot air or anything, it simply won't turn on. I press the button and...no air! If it works then it works great. It seems to be related to the weather. If it is super hot outside and we've got a bunch of errands to run, often it won't ever turn on. Sometimes it will after a long time, randomly. And then usually when it's cooler outside, the A/C will come on immediately with no problem. This is the same with the heat.
View 3 RepliesI just got a Toyota Prius Hybrid today, and when I got home tonight, I seen a red flashing light, it was not doing this, this morning when I would turn off the car. What it looks like when it looks like a car and has a key going thru it. I keeps flashing even though I am out of the car and it's locked. Does it do this only at night time?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius 90'000km with new 12V battery from last year. The problem I have is that the front parking sensors won't turn off when I park my car close to an object and shut the engine off. This fully drain my battery and I have to jump start the car everytime I switch it on. The technician from Toyota repair shop couldn't fix it and proposed to switch the front parking sensors off by unplugging the switch under the wheel. That didn't fix the problem at all since it didn't deactivate the front parking sensor but only deactivated the switch.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius, and the cabin fans will not turn on. I've tried fiddling around with all the AC settings and fan speeds, but I can't get to fans to work at all.
View 2 Replies2004 Prius here. The turn signals and hazard lights stopped working a few days ago. I found a disconnection in the grounding and repaired it. Also replaced the fuse and the flasher switch. Now the lights work, and I can hear the flasher switch clicking, but they don't blink!

Yesterday when I got in the car to do errands the car turned on but neither the MFD nor the main dash display turned on. I was able to get a little bit out of the MFD when I would push the display button, but it would fade and then go off. The main display was completely blank (no speedo, lights, other indicators, nothing), although it would show the turn indicators when I signaled.
When I got where I was going I couldn't turn the car off by pushing the power button, and I couldn't get the trunk open to get the garbage out.
I've been trying to trouble shoot this for quite some time now and I still can't figure out why the passenger airbag will show "off" and won't turn "on". This is on a 2006 Package 3. I read a properly functioning passenger airbag light would not indicate "off or on" unless someone is sitting on the passenger seat. Mine will show "off" regardless if there is a passenger or not?
I ran a diagnostic with the MiniVci and everything checked out, no error codes, the Airbag ECU is detecting everything as normal. I did a sensitivity check and the weights were within specs. I don't know where else to look.
I messed up when jumping my car. Two fuses needed to be replaced, and also the fuseable link block. I've replaced those, but emergency informational lights are still on. I checked the areas: brakes worked, brake fluid okay, etc. So how do I turn off the lights? I know when I change oil, the maintenance light will stay on and has to be turned off ; so is there a way to turn off these lights/?
Also, do the diagnostic tools at Autozone work on hybrids? I've not tried it, but curious.
How to turn off the light that says maintenance required? is there a thread on that?
