Recently, my 2007 Prius will make a "BEEP" when I press the POWER button to shut down the vehicle. This doesn't happen all the time, but only 1 out of 25 times or so. Other than the beep, I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Everything seems to work as normal.
View 4 RepliesSometimes (not all the time) when I get into my car with my key fob in my pocket, the car decides to let out a 2-3 second beep when I press the start button. (similar to the beep that occurs when I walk away from the car while its running and the fob is in my pocket) I have tried looking in the user manual, but I haven't found anything to explain why this is happening. Needless to say, its kind of annoying.

My dashboard goes out periodically then magically is restored. They say to replace that. I've decided just to trade it in and get a non-Prius. This morning, however, after driving for a short time, I pushed the power button to turn off the vehicle and it only partially shut off. The key wasn't in, so I put it in and tried again. Now it says there's no key in the ignition and still will not turn off nor turn on.

View 3 RepliesI was playing with the settings on the Display Audio/Setup/Vehicle settings.
I turned the "Key System with Elec. Key" setting to off.
Now I cannot turn the Power on in the car. I can unlock/lock the car using the buttons on the key FOB.
But when I press the Power button with my foot on the brake, all I get is the red "no key" security indicator on the display.
Just wondering if I should be concerned. It doesn't happen every time, but it sounds like grinding of a gear or something like that. I made a video .....
View 19 RepliesGen II? My 2004 will occasionally beep from the dash after shut down (until I close the door). If I ignore the beep, close the door and walk away, the next morning it will need a jump start!
My dealer said it was because I was shutting down before putting it in Park. I always thought Park was unnecessary. Anyway, I got in to the habit of putting it in Park every time before shutdown, and still sometimes I get the dash beeping when I open the door.
I have a 2007 Toyota Prius. When I press the brake pedal and press the start button the engine does not start or the wheels are not powered by the battery. It gives me the following errors:
The indicator in the Start button lights in Amber Color.
0 kmph mark is not activated in the dash board pannel.
When I shift the gears it only shifts to neutral ("N") gear.
I cant move the car forward or backward. An error message is displayed in the MFD in Japanese language. It is in Japanese and I cant read the error message.
I have a 2007 with 46,000 miles. Today I went out to run an errand and when I got to the store, the start button would not shut off. At the same time the dashboard went dark so no speed or mileage could be seen, but no warning lights came on. I tried pressing it repeatedly to no avail.

If I drive somewhere (engine completely warm) and stop, like at a store, come back 5-10 mins later, hit the power button, sometimes the ICE will start and immediately shut off, like within 1 second. It can't be the warm up cycle as the ICE is at normal operating temperature. I guess it is not a issue, as one of the 20 computers is doing this and there are no lights(like cel).

View 5 RepliesRecently, I have had a problem with my moon-roof, this is the second time this has happened. Normally when you press the open button, the roof slides all the way open, slides all the way closed and sealed when you close it. It also opens when you remotely open all the windows. OK, for some reason it stopped doing that! You have to press and hold the open-button to open or close it, and when you close it, it won't seal right unless you tap the button just right as it closes. When you open all the windows remotely, the moonroof remains closed.
The first time it started doing this, I took it to my friend's independent Lexus service center (now defunct) and Lee did something with the button to reprogram it and the moonroof worked as before. Recently it stopped working again. I don't know if I pressed something I shouldn't have or what! I assume that there is a way to reset/reprogram the moon-roof, just like there is a way to set the doors to lock - unlock when you shift the car into drive or park? What can I do to save an expensive Lexus dealer reset? My car is 2004, Levi/navi and loaded.
This started out as an intermittent problem after I would run the a/c for a bit. Now it happens every time I get in the van regardless of if I turn on the a/c. The engine begins acting like I am pressing the gas pedal, but not flooring it. I have to press hard on the brake in order to get the vehicle to stop because it is trying to race ahead and I don't have to press the gas until around 45 mph. What in the world is going on with my van? If I throw it in neutral it just goes nuts. I have been pulling over, shutting off the van, waiting a few minutes, and then cranking up again. It could take a couple of minutes for it to start again or it will do it right away.
View 4 RepliesI took my 2008 Prius to Jiffy Lube to have oil changed. When driving away, I made it about one block and all warning lights came on: Master Warning, Hybrid System Warning, Brake System Warning, Malfunction, etc. I pulled the car over and stopped. I started the car again, lights still there - drove 2 blocks back to Jiffy Lube and lost momentum about one block away, with pedal to floor, I could drive about 5 miles an hour into the bay. They looked at it for about 30 minutes and claimed I had bird seed that dropped under the air filter.... I said "goodbye" called AAA and had it towed to my dealer. They said it was because air had entered the system due to my being low on fuel. I have never heard of being low on fuel and it causing the car to shut down nor did I ever get a warning of low gas, still on one bar. Each time I restarted the car at Jiffy Lube, it started fine, drove forward or backward, then lost momentum again. Still no warning of being out of gas. The ticket from the dealer states:
"Vehicle low on fuel causing ECU to shut down fuel injectors when engine started to misfire. Found codes P0A0F, P3190 in system. Added 5 gallons of fuel and reset ECU."
Today I replaced my stock 95 Civic headlights with brighter (more white) halogen bulbs. The installation was fast and easy, however, I've noticed one problem after the installation; the remote power locks are no longer working. The car remote still flashes green when I press the button but I get no response from the power locks.
Because of this the alarm no longer activates when I lock my car from the remote. What could be causing the issue? Are the lights taking up too much power? Do I need a better battery? The lights are a big improvement from the stock lights however its very important for my car to be secure. It's been broken into twice, thieves love to target old Hondas...
I have a 2010 Prius Hybrid and lately, on an intermittent basis, I will press the brake pedal and push the start button and the dashboard lights up as normal but when I go to put it in gear nothing happens. The last time it happened the fan was running and I couldn't turn it off. It's like the car is all set to go but all the interior controls don't function. I then shut it off and restart it and everything works.
View 1 RepliesI am new to the web site and new to owning a Prius. Recently my wife and I bought a 2013 Prius two. I have a couple questions about the settings menu on the display. When you hit the set up button and then 'vehicle' it gives you a list of several items you can turn on or off. The first few are pretty easy to understand such as the doors unlocking at a certain speed or when shifting to or from park. But the others I've tried to search for what they mean and can't find anything. So my questions are:
1. What does 'Remote 2-Press Unlock' mean? And
2. What does 'Key System with Elec. Key' mean?
For the last couple weeks, every time I shut down my car, it would beep. A single, two-second beep. It would beep after my morning commute and again after my evening commute. Every time, I would tell myself, "I should really look that up."
As is typical, I kept forgetting to search for it. I remembered seeing something like it and I was thinking that perhaps it was a low 12v battery warning but I just got a new 12v last fall. I put it off and put it off.
I have started to notice one beep when I turn off the car. This doesn't happen all the time, but it appears to be happening more often. There are no unusual displays and the car runs fine.
View 6 RepliesI took delivery of my new prius a few weeks ago and of course played around with the parking assist. However in the last few days when I press the button to start the process I simply get a double beep and nothing more happens.
I called the dealer and they don't seem to know what it is and so have booked me in to take a look at it.
