Sometimes (but not always!) when I turn my Prius (2008) off and open the driver door, there is a constant beep. There are no interior lights left on. I think whatever I am doing wrong might be draining the 12v battery as it keeps going flat.

I'm pretty sure this is new behavior the past week or so. Whenever I open the door, whether finishing a drive or entering the car from outside, the car beeps once as if it is trying to get my attention for something. This happens when the car is off (I always press the power button before opening the door)
I do not see any warning lights or anything obviously wrong; what is the significance of this beep?
Lately when I first start up and all the lights on the dash come on I see the triangle with the exclamation point (I don't remember seeing this before). It goes off when the rest of the warning lights go off. Today I backed the car out of the garage and put it in park and turned it off. When I opened the dirver door it beeped, beeped, beeped (like it was backing up). I shut the door and opened it again and it beeped again. I got out and locked it and went in the house. I went back out and unlocked it and opened the passenger door and it didn't beep anymore. I haven't tried the driver door yet.

View 3 RepliesI started my 05 prius this morning, and it starts up and is running in normal time. But there's a constant long beep tone that doesn't shut off and after it starts it shoves the break pedal back out while my foot is still trying to keep it depressed. There's a brake light that is on after, but no error icon on the display. I didn't try driving it to see if it lets me, because of something possibly wrong with the brakes. What might cause this?
View 4 RepliesThe SKS on my 2010 Prius V used to open all doors when I grabbed the door handle but now it only opens the driver's door. I remember seeing somewhere in this forum that this is one of the few driver customizable options (unless it is for Gen II only) and I should be able to make the change on my own.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius V-ATP with remote keyless entry. When I open the driver door the rear doors do not unlock. When I open the front passenger door, the rear doors do unlock. I would like the driver door to open all 4 doors too. Is this normal operation?. Is there something I can do to fix it or do I have to take it to the dealer?
View 1 RepliesHave started seeing an issue on my 2012 about few months already and the dealer could not even diagnose it because it is intermittent.
Sometimes when I arm the alarm, I can hear the actuators/solenoids cycle, but there is no single beep and the driver's door invariably remains unlocked. Repeated press of the arm button on the fob would not change, i.e. vehicle remains unarmed and driver's door remains unlocked. All the other doors are unaffected.
I can cycle through by pressing unlock once or twice, then the next relocking press would work. This is worrisome if I didn't pay attention to the beep and thought the vehicle is locked while in fact it was not, this could also happen when the vehicle is at the dealership as the porter would think pressing the button would have locked the vehicle.
About 3 weeks ago our Gen III (Prius III with Nav and Solar) began generating a single standard duration (maybe 1 second, similar duration to reverse beep) beep each time the driver's door is opened. It only occurs with the driver's door and happens whether the car is locked, unlocked, started or not. We had our reverse beep-beep converted to a single beep about 2 months ago and now this single beep is annoying each time we open the driver's door whether we are inside our outside of the car. We could not find anything in the user manual that described why this beep would continue occurring.

But the beep you also have when the seatbelt reminder is on when driving was beeping ( at that same speed really fast beeping when you do not put your seatbelt on after a while it starts to beep really fast ). I unlocked the car and open the door and it kept beeping... now of course I can hear it even better.. it was indeed the inside beep.... I closed the door and wanted to lock the door again but before i could press the button it locked itself.... I opened and locked the car again.. after a few seconds it stopped.....
View 2 RepliesIt was such a nice day today that I popped the Sunroof open on my shinny new 2013 Prius which I haven't had a chance to do until today. When I parked the Prius and opened the door to get out, I heard a 'single beep' sound. Confused and not knowing exactly what that 'single beep' was intended for, I proceeded out of the Prius and touched the button to lock the doors. But due to my absentmindedness, I then noticed that I had left the Sunroof 'OPEN'.
However, I couldn't believe that the doors actually locked and the Prius didn't do any other kind of additional alarming with the Sunroof left open. So, I presume that this 'one single beep' I heard when I opened the door was intended to inform me that the Sunroof was left open. It's a good thing that I wasn't in a hurry today and noticed it because I didn't know what that single beep was meant for.
I've noticed that my overhead lights sometimes turn on when the driver's door is opened and sometimes they do not. (the overhead switch is in the middle "door" position). They work when the passenger door is opened but sporadically with the driver's side.
I haven't had time to RTFM on the MFD lighting selections but is there something that controls this in there? When they did want to work, they would turn on for about a second after the door is opened and then faded out. The only thing I've done recently is the fuel tank recall but this could've been pre-existing and I never picked up on it.
I get in the car and the light is off. I open the drivers side door and the light wont go on. I am driving and open the door no warning no light. Where the sensor is for the door? I don't have a bently. How to trouble shoot this or diag it?
View 24 RepliesI can't find in the owners manual where It explains about the bells with exiting our 2013 SE V6. Sometimes I hold the brake pedal and hit the start/stop button to shut off the engine, sometimes I don't hold the brake pedal and hit the start/stop button to shut off the engine. Sometimes I do either of those methods and the Wife opens the passenger door, sometimes she isn't with me and just the driver door opens. What happens is sometimes when I open the driver door a bell chimes.........ding, ding, ding. Sometimes it doesn't chime. I'm just trying to figure out what this intermittent chiming is all about?????? Is it a warning, a notification and if a notification what is it notifying us about?
View 14 RepliesDriver's door can't be opened. This 2005 Kia Optima EX has power door locks. It does NOT have rods that you can manually pull up to open it or push down to lock it. There are two ways to lock on unlock all the doors....with rocker switch on the driver's armrest or by pushing or pulling a small "button" located under the inside door latch to lock or unlock the door. When the driver's door gets stuck in the locked position I can hear the electric "actuator" inside the door panel as they lock or unlock the doors.
Using the "button" under the inside door handle doesn't work but if I rock the rocker switch from lock to unlock while my wife pulls on the outside door handle the door will eventually come open. The driver's lock/unlock button is operating incorrectly. When the rocker switch is pressed down to open the door, the button moves all the way back but then moves about about an eighth of an inch forward. The right side door buttons don't do this....they move all the way back or to the open door position and stay there. So, is the actuator in the door bad, is the rocker switch bad, or does= some electrical device, (a solenoid?) etc, bad that is not even located in the door?
I have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
My father recently purchased a 2012 Prius 3. To reduce his insurance premiums, he purchased an alarm system, which the dealer installed for him a few days after he first took the car off the lot. Now, when unlocking or locking the car from the driver's door handle sensor or via the remote, it both chirps (not the horn) and briefly sounds the horn twice or once, depending on whether you are unlocking or locking.
The problem is that when the car is unlocked from the trunk or the passenger door (using the door handle sensor with the key in pocket), this does not disarm the alarm, and the alarm will sound when the door is opened. The alarm is only disarmed when using the remote's unlock button or using the Smart Key sensor at the driver's door. One of the major differences between the 3 and 2 trims is that the 3 has Smart Key capability on the front doors and the trunk, rather than just the driver's door but the alarm has negated this benefit, as opening the trunk or passenger door without first unlocking from the driver's door or remote causes the alarm to sound.
Is this normal for a Toyota-installed alarm?
My wife and I bought a 2002 Passat Wagon 4Motion V6 this fall and we really like the car. It recently got very, very cold here and the drivers door makes a loud unlubricated squeak every time we open it. It has warmed up but the squeak remains. What kind of lube to use on the door hinges? Silicon spray or something else?

It isn't my FOB as I've already had that beep and fixed it over the summer. It has been going off and on for the last 2-3 months, I can't make it happen on purpose so the dealership thinks I'm losing my mind and no its not my cell phone beeping either. It is definitely the prius beeping ...

Noise usually happened when car cooled down. I brought this issue to dealer they response its normal in hybrid car. I really doubt explanation.
