The molding around my windshield on my 2007 Prius is looking pretty bad, looks like dried out Sun damage but doesn't leak. Is it replaceable without removing the windshield?
View 3 RepliesMaybe "detached" is the wrong word, but it's sticking up a bit on one of the sides such that it's not touching the windshield (see attached picture).
I don't think it was like that before, however, and I'm wondering:
1. Should I even care?
2. Is there an easy way of making it sit flush that a non-car guy could handle?
3. Is this something I should call the windshield guy back to do?
I just noticed yesterday that on my windshield, next to the wipers, I'm missing a molding piece. I think that's why there are some wind noise in that area. Attached are two pictures. The one of the passenger side you can see the black molding. The one of the driver side is missing it. What is the part number?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to replace the MG2 on my 2002 Prius. I have to lower the Engine to get access to MG2. I have already lowered suspension member (sitting on ground with rack on top of it but still connected on sides), removed the torque rod and moved the inverter enough to get access to the LH engine mounting nut. My plan is to start lowering the engine from LH side to get access to MG2 without removing anything else. Is this going to work or should I remove more things?
View 3 RepliesI just took delivery of my Prius a few days ago, and I noticed a rectangular sticker on the inside of the windshield when I got home It is black (from the inside), and it is located in the top - left corner (when viewed from inside) It looks like it may be an RFID tag possibly something from the port to track vehicles as they are coming in?
View 5 RepliesLong story short, the tint shop burned my exterior door pillar when I got it tinted like 8 months ago. Just now felt like dealing with it, so I got the new part in. How to replace it? The back has a lot of what looks like double sided tape and only 1 clip. In order to get the other one off it looks like I have to take off the chrome strip at the bottom since the black molding goes underneath the chrome...

I have a 2007 toyota prius. The car drives, but pulsates. The Check engine light and triangle of death are on. Diagnostic test says "replace hybrid battery pack", but wouldn't the car not even start if the bat pack were dead? What it could be? perhaps a bad cell or two? a bad ecu?

View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 Camry XLE with the split reclining rear seats and the retractable (stupid) sunshade. I bought new 6x9's to replace speakers all around (Infinity 9632) with adapter plates. Got the door speakers replaced easily enough, but for the life of me I cannot figure out the rear deck. It is all one piece of plastic, no removable speaker grills. And of course the speakers are screwed in top down. Most of the posts I have found on the internet are either for previous gen Camry's or people who have the folding down rear seat.
So after a lot of manual labor I was able to remove the back seat completely and the center console. I can pop the front of the back plate up and peek in, but cannot get it to come out. I think something is odd with the models with the retractable sunscreen and reclining seats.
I have scoured the internet endlessly. Closest post I found was "take off the rear side panels (by the back window) and the deck should pop out. There are airbags in there, not very keen on forcing anything.
The car has the "premium" JBL sound system which I found to not be so "premium" and was a serious step down from my last car's factory stereo.
I just bought a used car with tinting film on the rear windshield that has gone bad. Is it possible to remove the film without destroying the defroster and antenna wires on the glass? If one damages the wires, is there any way to fix them?
View 4 RepliesI have an 07 King Ranch. I need to remove the rubber step off the rear bumper to paint it. Due to a typical Ford paint job it is rusting already. Can I just pull up on it ? If so should I wait for a warm day to prevent breaking the clips?
View 3 RepliesSo first day back to work after the holiday season and I got clocked with a giant rock on the highway which put a chip in my hood and then put a nice crack in my windshield. So far it hasn't spread and it's not on the driver's side so luckily it's not impairing my vision.
And, did you have the dealer do it or a windshield repair place? I'm concerned about the rain sensor.
The left driver's side wheel is "stuck." The car is up on the jack, the lug nuts are all off, but the wheel will not come off.

View 2 RepliesThe windshield wipers aren't working properly. I can hear the motor trying to work, and either blade will try to work but get stuck against each other. I checked the fuses and nothing is burned out. I'm not sure if it is related to the problem but yesterday my husband was washing the car and I noticed that he had pulled the wiper blades away from the windshield so they were sticking up in the air. We filled the wiper fluid. I'm wondering if something got broken when he opened the hood without putting the blades down? They seem out of sync. He also did an oil change. Could he have done something to cause this problem while doing the oil change?
I want to open up and take a look at the motor functions, but I'm not sure where it's located and how to get to it.
How to disable the 12v DC-DC converter or what fuses I can remove besides the fusible link in the fuse box? I cant even find a writeup on how to remove that fuse...
View 19 Repliesi tried to fix my door actuator in my 2009 prius. However after I closed my door, now I can't open it from the inside or outside. I can reach in the door and manually pull the level on the actuator and is still will not open.
Now I just want to get the actuator out and put a new actuator in. Hopefully this is possible and if so how? Yes I still have the interior panel off and the vapor barrier pulled back
I have noticed that the rubber window moldings around both front doors is deteriorating. Both are torn and falling apart. There is no wind noise yet but they need to be replaced.
View 2 RepliesThe brake actuator on our 2006 Prius (95K miles) was activating (pump turned on) every 20 seconds or so. I used AutoEnginuity (AE) software to monitor the pressure of PACC (accumulator pressure sensor) and the pressure dropped rapidly once the sensor voltage got up to around 3.1 volts; therefore, the pump would activate again and this cycle would keep repeating as long as the Prius was turned on. Therefore I decided to replace the brake accumulator and its associated resistor. I purchased a new brake actuator and its associated resistor from Toyota. The brake accumulator replacement went well but when I tried to locate the resistor to replace it, I was dismayed to see that the old resistor is very hard to access (even though I took most of the dash apart to find it).
In my 2006 Prius, the resistor is on the driver's side near the body and high up under the dash. I think I understand the reason for matching the resistor value with the resistance of the pump windings but I am going to use the old resistor and see how noisy the pump is. BTW I referenced Toyota website (TIS) for how to do the replacement procedure and now I am going to see how good AE software (latest version) is at bleeding the various components. This is FYI when replacing the brake actuator and wanting to know where this resistor is located and how difficult it is to access.
