Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 - Blocked Air Vent?
Nov 2, 2010
Today the left middle air vent in my 2006 Prius (the vent immediately to the left of the display/radio) suddenly stopped working. Or more accurately, the air flow suddenly became almost non-existent. All of the other vents work properly. This occurs regardless of the air flow setting.
The oak trees above our driveway are shedding leaves by the hundreds now, so I'm wondering if a leaf is blocking the flow. But is it possible for just one of the vents to become clogged this way?
My real question: is fixing this problem something that I can try on my own, or is getting access to the air vent something that I should leave up to a repair shop?

how to remove the AC vents without breaking them? When I turned my AC on today it sounded like there was something blocking this vent and restricting airflow. It's very annoying and I'm not really sure how to go about trying to get in there to unblock the vent.

My 2005 Prius just killed on me while driving, couldn't put car in neutral, had to get towed. Where the gears supposed to be it just shows blocks. Radio works but that's it. Went test 12 v auxiliary battery and it tested fine. When I place smart key in slot radio won't come on nor flashing lights on dash but if I hold key in my hand dash lights flash and I can power radio.

I bought a 06 f350 Friday night with 132,000 miles. No lights when we test drove or left the dealership. About 20 miles down the road the check engine light came on, truck ran fine so I continued the trip home no problem. Saturday night I had the codes check and it said a blocked EGR passage. Yesterday after a decent amount of driving a wrench light started popping on after 20-30 minutes of driving. But no memory code. Would that be related to the blocked EGR? Will cleaning the EGR fix both lights or what?

I decided to install a new Optima yellow top battery because I performed the battery check and found the voltage low and therefore believed my 2008 was still running on the original OEM 12v battery. Much to my surprise I found a non-OEM battery installed and the vent tube elbow missing!

I own a 2005 Prius with about 145,000 miles on it. I love it. However, I've noticed that lately, the vent in the back by the window will come on and make a lot of noise. Some research has told me that this is the air vent for the battery that is in the back, and usually comes on when the temps are higher and the battery is starting to get a little overheated.

I have a 2008 Elantra with 78k miles on it. Yesterday, to my dismay, I couldn't get any hot air out of my vent. I have never once had an issue with the hot or cold airflow before.
My coolant level is good and the temperature gauge is a-ok. The air coming in was cold yesterday and cool today; it appears it's just outdoor air temperature (as opposed to straight up cold) that I'm getting.
I believe my radiator is also overdue to get flushed...not sure whether or not that has anything to do w/this.
Is this likely the blend door actuator? I'm no car guy but I've been reading a little. Also....looks like this part might be 40-50. How much do you think I should be paying for labor if this is fixed?

My A/C system is working fine but my passenger side vent isn't blowing air, Air comes our of the 3 other vents. I am not sure if something is stuck in there or if the A/C compressor isn't working.
I remember seeing a step by step guide of how to change it ages ago. But that my have been for something else. I have a 2007 Sonata GLS.

Recently, the air coming out of the vents has been intermittent, sometimes it blows sometimes it doesn't. I think I found the issue, the electrical contacts in the harness that plugs into the blower are either rusted out or have been almost burned out. Not as bad on the blower harness where this plugs in but I see some soot in there.
Once I removed this and tried wiggling it around, the blower comes on. Do I need to cut the harness and replace it with a new one or do I need to worry about the issue being traced somewhere else?
My girlfriend drives this car and she always has the A/C on either MAX or on the highest fan speed, I think that could be a culprit just from overuse. The other thing that comes to mind would be a wrong fuse or missing fuse somewhere, even though I checked the BLOWER fuse under the dash and under the hood and the relay. All of them are of the correct rating and do not look or smell burned out. (I'm not entirely positive on how to check/test relays)

Today I turned on my car and heard a sound like water flowing down a pipe, then I started to feel the car getting warm, but no hot air coming from the vent. I felt the dash board and it felt very warm, and very warm air coming from the dashboard vent. What could cause this to happen? Its a 2006 toyota corolla LE.

I have a strange rattle from the center vent. This happens only at idle when at light or stop sign. If I move shift to N the rattle stops. This happens after car is warmed up to operating temp. seems like maybe the idle is a bit low. I have 35k miles.

My 08 Azera blows cold air out the drivers side vent when everything on the right sides blows heat. If I set drivers side 88 degrees it blows some warm air. I changed the cabin filter and that did not work.

Never noticed this before, but today I felt a draft coming out of the vent even when the fan is off. The reason I noticed it was because the air was heated. Is it normal for the heater to be on even if both AC and Fan are off? My AC is set to 28C, but it's not turned on.

I have a 2010 GMC 3500 Savanah van with 6.0 motor. No heat in van. Engine operating temp is normal. Heater hose into core is hot. Hose coming out is barely warm. I am of course hoping for another explanation other then blocked heater core. The truck only has 45k miles. I am ready to backflush , but wondering if there can be any other explanation. A/C works normal.

I have a 2008 Elantra GLS with approx 60,000 miles. Recently, without fail, a buzzing sound occurs when changing the vent control knob from floor to vent and vice versa. The sound lasts for about 2 seconds and sounds like it may be coming from the area behind the steering column. All the climate control systems work fine and the buzzing noise only occurs when changing the vent setting. At this point it is just a nuisance as everything seems to be working fine, but in my searching of the forums can not seem to pinpoint what the issue may be.

I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The a/c air vent is not working on the passenger side. The vent on the drivers side is working. I believe it is the temp door actuator? Can we fix this on our own? Mileage is over 60,000 miles? That is the only problem I have had with my car.
