I have a 2005 prius and I got a scanguage to read the codes. I have two lights on my dash. One is the check engine and the other is the (O) light. I think this is something to do with the regen braking. Anyways when I run the scanguage it says no codes found. What type of scanner would be able to pull up all prius codes?
View 6 RepliesI use a scangauge to monitor the traction battery in my 2001 prius. Today when I started the car to come home, the alarm triangle came on, but the scangauge shows no codes found. The car ran fine and got me home, but what the alarm is about.
View 11 RepliesMy Scangauge is mounted on the dash just above the steering wheel. My last car, a Subaru Impreza had lots of room on the steering column. On the 2010 Prius it's very difficult to see when mounted there.
Cold weather is setting in and the glue on the velcro is starting to give out and the Gauge will soon fall. Where are you mounting them? How are you getting them to stick?
Scanner found u0293,,,recommended reseal power inverter. what I have read for two days says its Power source ECU.. What happened,,,kids was driving car, had 3 phones plugged in, ac, lights, and when she tried to set cruise, car went into limp mode, gear lights flashing,,,went into neutral,,,stop beside highway,,had to be towed.
12 volt battery charged and tested ok. no blown fuses. I reset ECU by jumping pins 14 and 4. no change, tried master reset by holding brake and power button down, no change..removed ecu fuse to reset, no change.
My 2005 Prius is 161,000 miles old and I have only taken it to the dealership exclusively for service from the start.
Right before my last oil change the warning light (red triangle or with exclamation point) came on and the oil icon came on on the control panel. It would only come on when I pressed on the brakes. I finally pulled over outside an auto parts store and checked the dipstick. It was not showing any oil at all.
I went inside the store and put in three quarts. Took the car to the dealership the next day and they could not figure out why the car had apparently consumed so much oil. In fact, their scanning did not even show the warning light had ever come on.
Odd, since there were no leaks found. They changed the oil and told me to bring it back 1,000 miles later. Today, 1,000 miles later, I checked the dipstick and found that it shows only 1/4 full. When I last checked the dipstick, leaving the dealership, it showed close to full.
My 2005 Prius was working quite fine until few days ago when the dash lit up with ABS, Check Engine, red triangle, ((!)), and the red car symbol on MFD. Additionally, the hybrid battery fan now comes on once in a while. Mileage on car is 164K; changed the 12v and hybrid batteries at about 153K. Running it through codes scanners, the following codes were read off it:
* B1421 (Solar Circuit malfunction, passenger side. Also, AC malfunction [although on the car, the AC still seems to work fine])
* P3000 (Hybrid control fault, and cruise control error)
*C2318 (Low voltage error-power supply malfunction)
I have checked 12V status using the diagnostic mode this morning and found it to be 12.0V (although 2 days ago when I checked it was 11.8V.)
I have not used the car since as I wouldn't want it park up by the roadside. I'm scarred to think its the hybrid battery again... For now, the car still moves well. What should I check to confirm real cause(s) of all these?
I was driving my 2005 Toyota Prius and all of a sudden some lights came on the dash. The orange check engine light, The big red Triangle with an exclamation mark on it, the orange VSC symbol, and the orange exclamation mark all at once. I also heard the fans in the back seat kicked in which I never heard before. It felt as though the car didn't have much acceleration. I took it to the dealer and they had it a whole week trying to figure out what it was wrong. They said they got the P3000 INF 123 code from the car which they said the HV control ECM for $2000. Needless to say I don't want to pay that! I found used ECM on ebay for $85 and I bought a scangauge 2 . I pulled 2 different codes out with the scan gauge 2 P0A80 and P3021.
Do you think the dealer diagnosis is right? What does the codes I read out mean?
When I use the "scan" feature of my Scangauge II, sometimes the DTC code and/or freeze frame data will change on me. That is, I check it and it says "1 stored code" (without clearing it), then go back to "Gauge" and then check the scanning function again, sometimes the code has changed to something else! With the freeze frame data, sometimes it will even change as I'm scrolling through the different data fields. Very disconcerting....
View 3 RepliesI made three ten mile trips this evening. On the first trip the "engine" light came on. This is the first time I have seen this light (2004 @ 134,000 miles). ScanGauge reports diagnostic code P0505. The "engine" light remained on through all three trips. Also, I was not able to get the ICE to shut down and run only on battery at all, even though the battery was on the upper level of charge and the engine was warm. There were long stretches where I normally run on battery at around 35 mph. I'm supposing there is a connection.
View 19 RepliesI was successfully able to install my Prius backup camera, but a few hours later I found that I could not shift out park. I was getting code U0293 on my scangauge. I can push the override button next to the shifter to shift out of park, but I can't figure out whats going on.
View 6 RepliesI saw two older posts regarding no dash board lights. It is super cold here as in minus 3 degrees. Somewhat unusual for Kansas. When I started my car I had no dash board instrument lights but the MPG monitor does work. Also when I tried to shut down the power button wouldnt turn the car off and consequently the key would not release. I took it to Toyota and he told my I had the dimmer turned down(I had already tried turning it several times) to the off position. He put a new battery in the key remote and things seemed to work fine. This morning it was another sub-zero day and the same problems happened all over again. This time they diagnosed a sealed junction box on the driver side that has poor connections that seem fail due to the cold weather that needs to be replaced. It will all start all over again when it sits over night in the cold.
View 1 RepliesI occasionally drill-down to check on pending codes, and my 2007 Prius likes to generate a LOT of them. Maybe pending codes don't count unless they escalate to an active code that triggers the check engine light.
View 3 RepliesI have had the Prius for a little over 2 years now. Bought used and currently close to 150K miles on it and have put on about 25K miles a year.
This evening on way back home, when I turned on the Prius, I got the Red Triangle along with a bunch of other lights ON the dashboard.
Pressing the power button and everything would take much longer than usual - the lights(on the clock) was dim, the windows moved up and down rather slowly.
Eventually, i had to jump start and carefully drive home. Afraid it would stop somewhere at stop signs or long red lights, i constantly kept pumping the accelerator(not sure if that was good). Seems like need to replace the 12V battery.
My 2008 Prius dashboard lights/indicator lights are not turning on.

View 5 RepliesI have done some maintenance on a recently purchased 2004 Prius. Namely, replaced the inverter cooling pump, the right front wheel bearing and rear brake pads.
At a certain point, the brake, (!), VSC and ABS lights came on on the dashboard.
My wife is driving this car so I did not get the exact moment when the lights came on after my repair jobs.
I then replaced the 12V battery with a new one and reset the lights with the PIN 4-13 jumper on the OBDII connector. I did retrieved the error codes of each light and I googled them without any result and I now lost the paper where I had then written on
Today in NY the temp in the morning was 0 d F. As I started up the car I hear a rough aggressive movement coming from the engine compartment then the Ready sign, beeping and the check engine light, (Giant red triangle ! Emergency sign), and the (!) sign.
I turned it off and one 3 times same thing, I decided to leave it and turned back home, then I noticed the battery level dropped to 2 bars from like 5 bars within 5 minutes. I did/was able to move the car back and then forth just to see if it would work, but the normal engine never came back on(on the computer screen).
I finally found the Prius I wanted. It's used. 2006. Gen II 220k miles. Bought at auction almost completely dead and no gas. After adding gas and driving so the main battery charges. It starts up great however the dash looks a little scary with nearly every warning light on.
View 19 RepliesHistory: 2005 Prius has 130,000 miles and was rear ended in mid November (less than 2 months ago) on drivers side rear.
Yesterday my husband was driving at 65 MPH when all the lights on the dash all lit up for a second before the entire car died. The car was DEAD, wouldn't do anything except the lights worked (I'm assuming cause it's the starter battery). Ran hazards for approx an hour waiting on tow truck but the rear left light only flashed approx 1 in 10 times compared with the rear right light. Car had a terrible burned smell.
1.5 hours later the tow truck shows up and says "your car smells terrible". We towed it to Toyota Dealership.
My 2005 Prius started showing all the symptoms of a dead/dying hv battery this morning. The dashboard lit up, the battery fan kicked on and my mpg dropped to 35mph. I was half way to work, so I just continued. I have been checking around and I can get it replaced for about $1000.00 reconditioned, but they have a 7-10 day waiting list. The dealership wants $3500.00 minimum, and says that I should not drive it at all and have it towed. Is this true? Can I drive on gas alone until I find a solution?
