I have a 2005 Prius. Recently the headlight leveling system finally bit the dust. I will get it replaced sometime soon. Meanwhile, I'd like to reset the emergency light on the dash, the triangle with ! inside. As well, I'd like to remove the icon from the display unit. How I might do this?
View 2 RepliesFrom what I've been able to gather there is a proclivity in the 2004-2007 Prii for the emergency brake light switch to break resulting in the dash brake light staying on endlessly. Here is a diagram on page 4 (Powered by Google Docs) of the emergency brake system with the switch labelled and here is a picture of the switch itself (RockAuto Parts Catalog).
I've located my switch and found that one of the plastic side pins is broken off and the whole thing is swiveling around. The problem is that I can't figure out how to get it off so I can replace it with a new one. I don't want to go to the mechanic for something like this.
Also, some of the information I've seen says that I need to replace the entire emergency brake pedal assembly. That could run several hundred dollars and I'm not prepared to do that just so a silly light will go off.
I own a 2005 Toyota prius and when I turn on the car, all the lights on the dashboard turn on but when the e-brake won't turn on when I put the e-brake on.
View 8 RepliesI just bought an '07 Prius with all the options except leather, and when I took my wife out to show her how it works, it didn't. The emergency brake light wouldn't go off and the shifter light on the dash would only go to neutral. We turned it off and on again (more than once) and finally the e. brake light went off and the zero showed up for speed and we could go. I'm wondering if there is some safety feature that won't let you engage to go until the e. brake is released. And if the light is on, the car thinks the e. brake is still engaged. Plausible? How do I fix it? Would this be the switch on the pedal?
View 6 RepliesTPMS light comes on. Properly inflated all four tires, then attempted to reset the TPMS system. The procedure says to hold the button until the light blinks three times. Having done this in the past, I know that the light should stop blinking when the reset button is released. Now, the light continues to blink after releasing the reset button. When in regular drive mode, the button is continuously on.

Had tires replaced at a Sears auto (only place open). But now can't reset the light on the dash. One thread said to push the reset button under the steering column while starting the car, but that doesn't work.

View 5 RepliesI changed the oil. Then I needed to reset the maintenance light. I followed the owners manual directions, which worked and I saw the 00000000 in the odometer. Now all the warning lights are on and the car won't start. I suspect it's related to the order or timing of pushing the start button but I'm afraid to try too many times. What this is?

I bought it at 65,000 miles and everything seemed to be just fine up until last night. the emergency triangle popped up on my dash along with my check engine light, ((!)) and VSC. I have since then taken it to midas to get an oil change and get the codes read.
View 4 RepliesI have an 03 Gx 470, original owner, 220K miles. When I go on the brakes the emergency brake light comes on on intermittently, not all the time, even when driving along sometimes it just comes on.... Braking seems fine, don't feel any issues.

Had the brakes checked and they are fine for now but since they are original, they will need to be replaced soon. The car has 50,000 miles. Recently had the cam sensor replaced and the dealership checked the car over.
View 6 RepliesI bought a 2007 Prius 2 months ago and I noticed that when I stop at a stop light and engage the parking/emergency brake while keeping it in Drive gear the car creeps forward. I have more experience with manual cars where when you pull the emergency brake it locks the car and prevents it from rolling forward or back despite the car being still in gear, so I'm curious to know whether this is a normal thing with a Prius and pushing the P button in addition to the emergency brake at a stop light with a slight incline is necessary. I find that this two step process of disengaging the E break and putting the car back in Drive makes you slow to take off. But what I want to know if this normal with a Prius?

View 1 RepliesI am just out of the dealer service period (2 years, 25000m). I took my Prius -v (3) 2012 to my mechanic. He did the oil and filter change, but could not reset the Maint Reqd light. It seems it is different from the regular Prius. I looked on the forum, and tried the suggestions, but none worked. It was supposed to be (with odometer showing).
Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode. The multi-information displays initial screen will be displayed for a few seconds. While the initial screen is being displayed, press the “TRIP” steering switch (→P. 186) 3 times, pressing and holding the switch on the third time. I tried doing this both with my foot on the break and off, but all I got was a reset trip.
Got 14 Prius V back from first maintenance today and noticed the mechanic forgot to reset the light. So I called my advisor and she told me what to do. Here is process for others to share:
1. Set odo/trip to Trip A
2. Turn off vehicle
3. Hold down mi/hr-km/hr button on dash
4. While holding down button, turn on vehicle to ON state (Press Power button TWICE, but DO NOT press brake pedal - you don't want engine to start)
5. Wait while Maint Req light flashes, then goes off completely - about 4 seconds.
6. Turn off vehicle.
Ok I just bought my 2004 santa Fe last Saturday. I washed and detailed the entire car even washed under the hood with the washer from the car wash like I have done many times before on other cars. On sunday the air bag light came on. Could have this been from me washing under the hood or is there a true problem. How do I check the air bag system and how can I reset the light.
