I replaced the 12v starter battery about 8 months or 30,000 miles back. The problem is that It was running fine, and I put the key into it to start and pushed the start button the dash lights would not turn on, the center console lights and instruments work, but the main dash fuel, speedometer lights are out. The car seems to run ok and the main battery bank is fully charged for now.
View 10 RepliesMy Pris 2010 would not start this morning. My wife tried to start the car this morning and it would not start. All the symbols on the display light up and would not go. She then tries to turn off the car, but the Triangle symbol with the exclamation mark within it lights up. The Start button light is red and the Park button flashes green. Added to that is the constant beep that you hear when you try to close the door with the keys in the car. I cannot even turn the steering wheel. I had to get it towed to the Toyota dealer and am was told that i would hear back tomorrow.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2007 Toyota Prius. When I press the brake pedal and press the start button the engine does not start or the wheels are not powered by the battery. It gives me the following errors:
The indicator in the Start button lights in Amber Color.
0 kmph mark is not activated in the dash board pannel.
When I shift the gears it only shifts to neutral ("N") gear.
I cant move the car forward or backward. An error message is displayed in the MFD in Japanese language. It is in Japanese and I cant read the error message.
2006 when started, the lighted ring around the power/start button is red, where I guess in the past it would light up green.
The closest thing I could find to suggest what it might mean would be a bad 12v battery. Those articles I found relating to the 12v battery said the car would also have the red triangle light lit up in the instrument panel along with the red ring around the power/start button.
Well all the lights are on for mine as well as of 2 days ago... checked the 12v, was at 11.8v, tested under accessories load (without engine on) and went to 11.4v then tested with the car on and we're at 14.2v
So just to be safe I went ahead and got a NEW 12v and installed it yesterday. All the lights went away immediately. Drove 30 minutes to the town over after the install... fine.... it sat off for about 1 hour.... drove it back home another 30... perfectly fine.
This morning the wife takes it to work, starts the car, all the lights on again... turns it off completely, then turns it back on and all the lights are off and then drove it to work just fine.
this is the second time this has happened to me: I stopped at a beach access to relax & look at the ocean, turned car off but left key in as was staying in car. When I decided to leave car would not start, dash lights would come on but that was all. Hit power button again lights went off but could not get key out of ignition. After several tries I call AAA, they charged something under the hood & said I needed a new battery. The first time this happened was several months ago & I never replaced the battery. When I got home I did the self check of the voltage & it was 12.8 & car is starting fine. Is this some kind of a computer glitch?

View 2 RepliesI went to open the hatch this afternoon to see if my new painting would fit so I could take it to the frame shop, and the hatch would not open. Nor would the door-unlock button work. The fob wouldn't open it either. Then I realized no dash lights were on, and the car would not start. I thought there was supposed to be a way to open the hatch from the inside, but I crawled into the back and could not find it.
So the 12-v battery was dead.
I drove my 2005 Prius to work and parked, left it overnight, then the next night went to take it home and the fuel and gear lights are blinking, and the car won't start.
View 7 RepliesI got in my car today, put the key in, put my foot on the break, and pressed the start button, but instead of starting up, the start button turned orange, and 5 orange dash lights came on in the lower corner. I tried persistently to start it, and eventually it did try to start the engine, which worked fine. I drove around the block and then parked to see if I was going to have the problem again. This time the problem was more persistent the car never started again.
View 6 RepliesTested and replaced 2 bad battery cells in my 2007 Prius... Got everything put back together and now all dash lights are on and engine won't start... When i try to shift into drive or reverse it goes directly into park... I tested the battery without removing the safety key and the inside terminals are at 220 volts and the outside terminals are at 0 volts as shown by photo... Maybe due to a fuse somewhere?

I checked my 12 volt and it gave a reading of 12.2 volts. These are the engine codes that come up:

My 2006 Prius wouldn't start yesterday. The dash lights blinked on & off and the fob was locked in the dash. About 5 mins. later it came out. I was able to jump start the car with no prob. I drove to the dlr. & they checked the bat. & charging system. They found no problems, but said I might want to R & R the bat. as it's 5 yrs. I want to stick with the stock bat. Aalso stated that the bat. was fully charged & when I went home I plugged in my battery tender. The car was wired for the tender already although I haven't had the need to use it until now.

Then I got in, hit the power button, and the console turned on (though I don't think 'ready' came up), and several of the dash lights came up as amber. ABS, VSC, and 3-4 others. I couldn't shift. After 20 seconds or so of confusion, I turned it back off, sat for a second, and turned it back on again - worked fine.

View 10 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius Hybrid and lately, on an intermittent basis, I will press the brake pedal and push the start button and the dashboard lights up as normal but when I go to put it in gear nothing happens. The last time it happened the fan was running and I couldn't turn it off. It's like the car is all set to go but all the interior controls don't function. I then shut it off and restart it and everything works.
View 1 RepliesI had just picked my kid up from school, as I turn out of the parking lot my A/C stops blowing cool air, I check the A/C screen and it still says it's set on High with temp at 68. However, it is blowing very low with warm air. Seconds later the dash lights up with numerous warning lights. I'm on the highway and I'm able to gather speed, but each time I do I hear the engine revving like crazy. We only live a few miles from the school so I am able to make it home. Once home, I turn off the car and turn it back on. The only warning lights displayed now are the red triangle and the yellow check engine light. I turn the car off, pop the hood, I check the belt and it was fine. I checked the oil and it seemed fine. I check the coolant overflow and it was empty.
View 15 RepliesI just installed a set of HID conversion kit on my 2005 F-150 STX. It is only one beam bulb so therefor I have no high beams. Also, to remind you I have fog lights on the truck. My question is, when I turn my head lights on, and pull the switch to turn on the fog lights, a "blue light" indicator lights up on the dash. It is the high beam indicator and why that is lit. As far as I remember, that light never came on before the install. You have to excuse me since this is my first truck ever and I just got it back after having it repaired at the body shop the last two months. So technically, I only had the truck for 2 months....Just curious whether the blue light is suppose to be on when the fogs are on the dash.

At the same time the dashboard went dark so no speed or mileage could be seen, but no warning lights came on. I tried pressing it repeatedly to no avail.
