I had the engine replaced in my 2003. I know they had to remove the windshield wiper tray. Is this why rain water is entering the passenger floor?
Someone unfamiliar with Prius design did the work. If there's something that would have to have been resealed, I'm sure he didn't do it.
Any pointers to find or fix the leak?
I have a 2001 f250 last night we had a good rain and this morning as i was backing down the driveway water came running down the passenger side floor board from under the dash i cant seem to find where it came from on the inside and can not find any standing water under the cowl where could it be coming from?

I've had a water leak in the passenger side floor. This started when my sound system was installed. So I've been dealing with it. Vacuuming out the water and driving. Recently A LOT of water leaked in. Now the car won't start and the doors won't lock. I read about this issue before. What to do. The dealer wants to charge me $210 just to look at it and hook it to a machine. Then if the issue runs me more than a few hundred. That's just over budget. I need to fix this issue.

Been having a little problem whenever it rains, the carpet on the passenger side gets soaked through and I'm not really sure where the leak is coming from. the only part of the floor that gets wet is the flat part where the passenger would put their feet, but the parts that slope up towards the dash and towards the middle of the cab stay dry. I've pulled up this part of the carpet, and the rubber grommets are intact and in good shape, and there is no rust or anything on the floorboard. from searching here it seems people have had similar problems, one thing being a leak into the seals around the third brake light above the rear window.
a couple things i should mention is that the air conditioning condenser has been broken for about two years, so could water get blocked up and leak in? since its winter here in PA i haven't used the air con since last summer though. I'm not really sure how long the leak has been happening since I've always kept a floor mat over that spot, and the carpet drys in a few days anyway.
Another thing i should mention is that the weather stripping at the bottom of the window on the drivers side door is not perfectly tight and tends to come out of place when the door is closed hard. this has been happening since i got the truck almost three years ago and a new piece was just put in a month ago (the leak had been occurring before the new piece was installed) when the truck was hit and went in for body work. possibly a drain routing to passenger floor? I should add that I'm sure it's not coolant, it has no odor and feels like water.
Might be a good idea to pull up the whole carpet on passenger's side and sit in the cab during the next storm...
Maybe I've been having too much fun in the rain... I've recently noticed an odd smell in the car and found a small wet spot underneath the passenger front floor mat, only to be followed by same in the rear passenger floor mat. I was hoping it won't happen again, but I found myself with the wet floor few weeks later after the rain.
I first thought it may be the bike rack (which I have posted in the earlier month) but seeing the location and occurence, it couldn't be from the rack. It was always the underneath the center of the freaking floor mat.
My R is at the dealer since yesterday, getting a full physical.. They're even talking about removing the headliner to make sure there is no internal leak from the roof.
Leaking A/C water onto the passenger floor problem. If you’ve gone on a long trip and ended up with a pool of water on your passenger floor, you know what I’m talking about. It seems to be a common problem, especially if you live somewhere hot and have to keep your A/C on the coldest and strongest setting nonstop like I do. This is a very simple job and takes about 20-30 minutes.
All you need is: duct tape, a wire hanger, a few towels, and a wet/dry shop vac. (If you don’t own a shop vac, borrow one or rent one if you must, but it is a good investment if you don’t own one already).
Step 1: Remove the plastic cover under the dashboard. This piece just pops off, there are no screws, so give it a good tug down and outward and it should come off easily.
Step 2: Once you have that piece out of the way, reach up to the left corner of the carpet and pull it back, you don’t have to pull it very far to see the A/C drain tube.
Step 3: Pull the tube out from the hole on the firewall, and look at the end. If there’s water dripping your clog probably isn’t that bad. Take the wire hanger, bend it straight, and stick it as far up the tube as you can, wiggling it around and pulling it out to wipe off any gunk on the wire. Try to reach the metal pipe that the other end of the rubber tube is connected to if you can, but do NOT pull the rubber hose off the pipe, it will be hard to get back on. Also, be sure to have your towels ready because you may have up to a liter of water pour out the end when you unclog it.
Step 4: Turn your A/C on (make sure the car is fully on) and wait a minute. Look at the end of the drain tube. If it is dripping water quickly, and you don’t see much water coming from anywhere else under the dash, then you are done. I would suggest to still continue with the next steps just in case, but it’s up to you. If, like mine, the tube is fairly dry and you still see water dripping from further towards the inside of the dash, then your clog is further up the pipe and not in the tube itself. In this case you’ll need the shop vac.
I have something really strange that has happened to me... two days ago I noticed a small puddle of water in the back off my Prius on the floor behind the passenger seat. There is absolutely no water anyway else..I've thoroughly searched. I dried it up as much as I can but it seems to continue to get wet - not to the extent it was the first time I saw it, but when I press down with my hand I can hear water in the carpet. I've used a wet vac to suck up as much as I can... but I come back and it is still wet again.... What could be leaking... again.. absolutely nothing else is wet.. and nothing could have spilled that would have produced that much water.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius. I recently discovered some cold water leaking from behind the center instrument console on to the front passenger side floor. It only leaks when the A/C is running and there doesn't appear to be any difference if running with fresh air or recirc air. I removed the plastic covers from that area to look around. There is cold water dripping from the bottom of the metal tube that goes behind the console and into I guess an A/C component. The water is not running down the tube as the tube itself is dry. So, I'm wondering if this may be condensation on the A/C unit? Also is there a drain tube that may be clogged or something like that?
View 10 RepliesI just purchased my daughter a used 2006 Prius and we found water in the rear right passenger floor board this morning. We have only had the car 3 days. There are on leaks that I could find inside the car. I looked in the tire well and water was there and also near the 12Volt battery also. The brownish/yellow sealant in the tire well that goes around the bottom is also in my 2010 Prius but I noticed that my daughters 2006 Prius the sealant or what I believe to be bodyflex is cracked. I am going to have a body person look and see if he agrees with me that this bodyflex is cracked.
View 2 RepliesI am getting a leak in both the drivers side and passenger side when it rains (by my feet).
I searched on the forum and it seems most people with a water leak tend to be from the A/C hose, but mine is not related to A/C since I can run air con all day and no water appears, but when it rains heavy I get leaks on both sides of the car.
I opened the hood and checked out the section under the windshield wipers (drainage area) to see if there was any debris, but it was clean - even the drain hole was clear.
I was thinking perhaps the seal between the windshield and the plastic section that is used to move the water might be leaking, as I noticed one area was slightly torn, but it was very, very small. Perhaps an adhesive to firmly attach the plastic drainage to windshield?
Have a water leak on the drivers side and the passengers side?
I got a shoe full of water when I backed up and stepped on the brake exiting my drive. Cleaned it up and felt around up under the back of the firewall/floorboard and found that the parking break and the break pedal had water dripping down. Also the carpet/padding up on the firewall was wet.
Checked the passenger side and it was wet too. I was thinking it might be a window leak because water was condensing on the front corners of the window throughout the day.
I have a 95 grand am that has a leak on the driver side. Every time I get in the car there seems to be water under my floor mat. I have already replaced the heater core on the vehicle because it did go bad. But this liquid is just water. It doesn't have any odor other then a smell of wet dog kinda.. I have perfect pressure on all my gauges and all my fluids under the hood are at the right level. What is going on with my car?
All i can think of is that i did drill a little 1/2in hole to run my power wire for my subs. other than that everything else is stock. Also there is no water on the passenger side, just the drivers side. I noticed when it rains a lot more water seems to be evident then before the rain.
After it rains, the passenger side of my car fills up with water. I assume the drain wholes are clogged. Where they're located?
It is a 2007 2.0T FWD if that matters.....
I have fixed all draining issues, sunroof, fender liners... However I am still trickling water into the drivers side floor pan. I can't see the source.
View 18 RepliesSo our Passat seems to have developed a leak from somewhere. Even while parked, water seems to pool on the rear passenger floor. The passenger front and driver's side front and rear are both dry. Does this sound like it could possibly be one of the sunroof drains being clogged? Only reason I'm skeptical is because the front floor is perfectly dry. I haven't pulled it up yet, but the rear floor is literally "squishy" with water.
Again this happens when the car is parked, so it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the AC system. I'm unsure about the cabin air filter, because if that were the culprit I would think the front would be wet too.
Is there a known issue with water getting into the passenger side(floor) of the Passat sedans? Is the leak due to the sunroof?
View 10 RepliesI drive a 2009 Honda Fit (and I am very happy with it). Last week, after some intense rain last week in Greenville, NC, out of the corner of my eye I noticed that there was a puddle of water on the floor of the passenger's side. I looked for a cracked window or maybe a leak from the windshield, but I couldn't see anything; besides, the floor was the only part that was wet (the dashboard, the seat, and the inside of the door were completely dry). Today I took the car in for an oil change to the local Honda dealer and I mentioned the issue to them, and asked whether they could take a look at it. They did and they said they could not find a leak anywhere. Where the water might come from? Is this common? How to prevent it from happening again?
View 7 RepliesIt's from rain, but only getting to the front passenger floor area. And this just started in the last month. Decades ago I had a VW Rabbit that would get serious water, in all 4 quadrants, in rain or a car wash. But I figured that one out, the "gutter" in front of the windshield was jammed up with dead leaves, once those were cleared, no more water coming in.
So, when this Avalon leak appeared, that was the first area I checked. There was a bit of leaves and twigs, which I cleared away, but the worst of it was on the drivers's side and as I mentioned, no problem there.
Just noticed the passenger side floor has water frozen on carpet. There is no evidence of water on the sides or from the dash area. I reached under the car and I can see 2 holes, one of them is plugged with a rubber grommet/plug and the other I can stick my finger way up into it. My wife has been driving this in the rain a couple days last week.
Is that a possible source for the water getting in? Can I order a replacement plug if it fell out?
I just did read something about a "sealing cover" and I matched against the driver side and it does appear to be missing. Seems to be a round 40mm plug. I measured the driver side and plug is 40mm and the hole is more like 25mm. Is this the right part?
It seems rain is coming into the passenger floor area. When I have checked the bottom windshield area I have notice that some rubber/plastic line is not inserted all the way but cant be inserted. Accent 2006....
