Ok. So i left work yesterday and realized that my low beams are both out. These are new bulbs so I checked the fuse under the engine hood. It had not broken. I grabbed my volt meter and got no current DC going into the fuse. Where the relay is located? This is for a 2001 prius.
View 11 RepliesLow beams don't work. The fuses are fine (under the dash, and in the engine compartment) and the bulbs look good. The fact that both went out at the same time has me wondering. One post on this forum for something not related mentioned a headlight relay behind the fuse panel?
View 9 RepliesMy car is fully stock, with all options available to me (cold weather package not available here). The low-beam triple-LED headlights are aimed way too low compared to all my previous cars, and where they should be. BUT high-beam is aimed properly. So if I adjust the low-beams up, my high-beams might end up lighting up the trees, not the road.
If adjust the headlights up on a fully stock car (not lowered at the front)? Are the high beams still lighting up the road fine? And if you can be specific as the number of turns on the screwdriver, it'd be good too to have an initial adjustment reference.
I have a 2012 Prius 4. All of a sudden, the head lights went very dim. We have replaced the bulbs and that did not work. I can only drive at night with brights on (not very popular). Any quick fixes, before i take it to the dealership?
View 6 Replies2012 Prius mdl 2 I notice my left low beam had gone out I went to get a replacement bulb The first one seemed dim, so I got a brighter one that wasn't much better I figure I would go to the dealer and get one of theirs I put it in and brighter, but it cast no real beam I pointed the car at a flat wall, and the right side is normal, the left side is not correct and I noticed there is a small beam pointed to the left The small bit of light that does go forward does cast a faint rectangular image on the wall and it does match where it should line up similar to the right side I cant think what has caused the beam to be all messed up No damage or stuff like that.

View 19 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius 2 that has suddenly developed a problem with the headlights. The lights will function on high but will not work on low. Are they hid? I have checked the fuses and relay. Really at a loss here. Not really wanting to spend a fortune at the dealership.

A couple of months ago, the passenger side low beam lamp went out. When I tapped it, the tiny bulb on top of it went back on, but not the low beam lamp. High beams were fine.
Took it to the dealer asking them to check for a short. They said there was none, it was just the bulb.
Tonight, same thing except on the driver side. Tapped it and the small bulb went on, but not the regular one.
I am finding it odd that both bulbs would burn out like that. One, maybe, but two so soon...?
I had my '03 for seven years and 112k and never had an issue with the lights. Very few issues overall with that.
Yesterday my 2010 Prius 4 (98k miles) was normal until I switched the lights from normal to hi beam and then back again. The hi bean works but the regular headlights do not. All other lights work and there are no warning lights lit. Turn signals are normal. Could this be a circuit breaker?
View 19 RepliesAs the title states I have a 2001 f250 with the 5.4 4x4 and lately the auto headlight / overdrive fuse keeps blowing. Both seem to function just fine but a couple of days later the fuse will be blown. I am not functioning the OD button when it blows so I'm guessing its something with the headlights. What else does that fuse protect?
View 2 RepliesMy wife was driving home tonight and the headlights went out. She was able to pull off the road to a parking lot. All the lights are working besides the headlights. Neither high or low beams are working. I can heard clicking noise in fuse box when switching the headlights on and off. I pull the plug off one of the headlights and stuck a new bulb in it. It still did not work.

View 1 RepliesI have a problem with my 2002 Prius when I was driving down the highway the master warning light came on with a warning display screen appearing saying that there is a problem in the Hybrid System and then the car went into shut down mode. I had it towed to the dealer for diagnosis and an estimate. The codes read were P3000, P3004, P3125, and P3009 they did not tell me the sub-codes read. Their diagnosis was the inverter needed to be replaced. The Main battery on this car had been replacing at 140,000 and there has not been a problem since the car has been well taken care of throughout its life. Being new to working on hybrids but not cars and electronics I figured I could replace it cheaper than the dealer price of $4200. With the age of the car and high miles 175,000 I figured it would not be worth the new part price so I got a guaranteed used inverter. After replacing the inverter I still got the same problem with no change.
So I decided I would have to diagnose it myself. The car starts and runs fine and starts charging the battery right away as normal but if try to but it in reverse or drive it fails so that means the short would have to be in the transaxle. I decided to test MG1 and MG2 for shorts and I figured I would need to use a megger to do this but I did not all three winding on MG2 test shorted to ground on the 200-ohm scale on a regular ohm meter. Then after closer inspection of MG2 cables, you can see a coating of corrosion running up all three cables. So the question I have is this corrosion on the cables a common problem for 1st gen and could it be possibly just a cable issue and not MG2 and can the cables be replaced without dropping the engine and transaxle???
I have a 2005 accent that keeps blowing the ecu 1 fuse. It is also showing a code for "system voltage low", and the battery is wet around both posts. I read somewhere else that the alternator could be surging and blowing this fuse. Had both alternator and battery checked at autozone, battery is said to be on the way out and alternator shows its fine. Battery does not show any problems, start car just fine.
View 7 RepliesI bought an 03 with 58K miles on it. shortly after I bought it the check main battery light came on, after the local Toyota dealer told me I needed a new main battery. I had a P3000 code, a high voltage leak. It turned out to be corroded buss bars and cables, with 2 leaking cells, $1,450.00 latter the onboard computer said the problem was fixed and my display read normally for about 1,500 miles before I started getting that code and the check main battery light again.
I took it back to the shop tat did the work and they ran the diagnostics on it again, checking the main power cables that led from the main battery under the car to the Toyota Hybrid system, inverter? Under the hood they checked all of the high voltage connections, they all checked out fine. The shop then took several days to do an online search for possible causes. This led to the CV trans axle with its electric motors and generators as the possible culprit. The car is running and driving fine, so I did the 60,000 mile transmission oil change, suggested by my mechanic ( apparently the fluid becomes conductive with age) the check battery light will go off if I remove the secondary battery terminal for a minute or so and stayed off for 2 tanks of gas after the fluid change but it did come back on.
I can reset the computer easily enough and it will stay off for 3 to 400 miles but I'm looking to get the damn light to stay off. I'm going to change the trans fluid again. Changing the drive motor or generator?, can this be done in the car? or at all? It may be that if this is the problem it may end up making sense to just put in a new CV transaxle.
I just purchased a 2011 Sonata. The low beams are not working and I am trying to diagnose the problem before I take it to the dealer in case it's just a blown fuse or bad relay. I have read through the owners manual and looked at both fuse compartments for the fuse and relays and to no avail. So, looking for the location of the low beam fuse and relay? I know there has to be a fuse for the headlights somewhere lol. Maybe I am missing it because of an abbreviation or something. What is the fuse name and I can go from there.
View 2 RepliesAnd probably the worst headlights ive had for intensity out of all cars Ive owned. I took it to the dealer complaining of how dim they are. They adjusted the aim angle up and made them actually worse. Now my high beams just shoot up into the sky
I asked about disabling the "extended Bulb life" setting and they claim not to know anything about it. I am looking at getting aftermarket HIDs and correct angle adjustment to resolve this issue. I just cant believe how bad the OEM headlights are. These headlamps pass NHTSA regulations.?

My high beam indicator in my dash is not working, I pulled the bulb and checked it and it is fine, so I did a voltage test and I am only getting 1.5 volts at the light terminals, I should be getting 12 volts. Is there a wiring diagram someone has so i can see if it is the dash display itself or that I could trace back to the switch to see if it is something in the headlight switch? or What it could possibly be. other than that, everything else works.

Last week I drove to the mall in the snow. Headlights worked fine. Upon leaving the mall I realized that my low beam headlights were not working.
Purchased and installed one low beam headlight bulb, on the slim chance that both of them simply burned out at the same time. It didn't come on.
Results of an internet search indicated that the fuse might be blown. I pulled the 20amp Low Beam headlight fuse and sure enough it was bad. Put in a new fuse. Turned on the headlights and it blew instantly.
Have been driving with the high-beams the past 5 days. Only one car has "blinked" at me, so driving with the high-beams isn't a problem. Probably because there are so many cars with really bright low-beam headlights these days.
However, I would like some guidance to getting this problem resolved. What are the most likely reasons for the low-beam headlight fuse blowing instantly like this?
I bought my 2010 Passat 2.0T wagon a couple of months ago. Didn't drive it at dark time so much time, but what I noticed, it looks like headlights don't have asymmetrical beam there.
View 6 RepliesI own a 2001 Accent 1.6L. The other day both low beam headlights went out. The brights work and so do the parking lights when turned on. I changed the bulbs and still the low beams don't work but the highs and parking lamps do. I looked on the hood for a relay but could find one in the fuse box. I checked the fuses and they appear okay. What could cause the problem? I'm hoping it is not the stalk. Still a relay or switch under the dash?
