Prius (2001-03) :: Clicking In Front End When Taking Off Either Forward Or Reverse

When just taking off, either forward, or reverse, there is a clicking sound, like a rock in a hubcap, but very soon, stops, actually I had the tire off the car, and turned the rotor as fast as I could, by hand, which was really slow, and the clicking was there, just for a few seconds. I thought maybe the rotor was rubbing on the dust shied, but that doesn't seem the case. When I have the window down, I can hear is slightly, not very long. When I had the tire off, I checked the cv joints, no torn rubber, no grease flying around, I pushed in/out, up/down on both ends of the shaft, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The only thing I did notice was the strut rubber, bellow, was torn on both side, and looked like some oil was leaking, so I will have to replace both struts soon, but I don't know if that would have anything to do with the clicking sound. Like I said before it sounds like a BB in a hubcap, but in a sense that doesn't make sense, because the sound stops way before centrifical force takes over, know what I mean??

Toyota - Corolla :: Drives Forward Just Fine But Will Not Reverse / Taking Forever To Accelerate

So, I don't know if any of these problems are related but a few months ago, I accidentally put diesel fuel in my car. We got it flushed out (used some fuel injector cleaner and filled the tank up to dilute what fuel was left after i siphoned it) and my car was doing fine. Then my car started running really shitty, just taking forever to accelerate, revving really hard when I gassed, but not going fast at all, so we changed the spark plugs, oil, and transmission fluid and now it drives forward just fine, but will not reverse. all it does is move forward a bit then stop. It will drive in neutral up to 20-25 mph. What might be wrong??

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 - Clicking Noise When Taking Right Turns?

I recently replaced my driver side axle due to the inner CV joint boot being ripped. Its a 2001 Jetta VR6 with 173,000 miles on it and I have been driving it with a ripped boot for about a year and finally decided to replace the whole axle last night. I replaced it with an aftermarket axle (was on a budget) and the job was fairly easy. Since I did it late at night I was too tired to take it for a test drive so I waited until today. When I was driving it all was well until I took a right turn and I could hear a very distinct clicking sound coming from the driver side wheel well, it is constant throughout the turn.

The noise is only present when taking turns above 20mph and it sometimes even occurs when driving in a straight line. Take note that I have not had an alignment done yet since I had replaced the axle. The car is lowered about 2 inches on Raceland coil-overs that are pretty old and I think they are shot. But like I said the car has NEVER made this sound until I just recently replaced the axle. I am at a loss of what it could be and I am trying to sell the car currently so I would like to get this problem sorted out as soon as possible!

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Hesitating When Put In Gear Going Forward Or Reverse

We have a 2001 Santa Fe. Very recently it began hesitating when put in gear going forward or reverse. Once the gas pedal is pressed, there's a delay of up to 2 seconds as RPM climbs, then the vehicle jerks into gear. It seems to run fine otherwise. Mileage is approx 128 k. Maintained very well by the same mechanic until very recently. Internet searches have gotten answers of use fuel additive, install some computer patch, fix an oxygen sensor, change tranny fluid and flush tranny, rebuild tranny.

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Automatic Transmission - All Gears Lost Forward And Reverse

I'm having trouble with the automatic transmission in my 04' Elantra, it acted like the speed sensor was failing, but later the same day it lost all gears, forward and reverse. after turning the car off and sitting a while I started it back up and had gears again, but the trany is making noise. Fluid level is ok.

I recently bought a 2001 Sante Fe 4X4, (my first Hyundai), that has transmission issues. It has about 135,000 miles on it. It will start easily, and go into Reverse just fine, but would not move in any forward gears. It would occasionally shudder a bit when put in 'drive', but only move forward a few inches. Recently, my mechanic backed it around, then decided to try it in forward again. This time it went forward a couple hundred feet, then quit moving forward. Do I need a new transmission, and if so, what vehicles use this same transmission? Or is there a sensor or valve that could be defective?

IS F (2008-2014) :: Light Click Pop Noise From Passenger Front Area When Reverse Or Go Forward

When I reverse on flat surface no bumps or anything like that... when I proceed to go forward I get a light click pop noise from my passenger front area I don't know what it might be I will be putting it on a lift to check if anything is loose ...suspension mods are usrs bushing and bc coilovers ...What I should look at would be great. When turning or going over bumps I get no noise what so ever its only when I proceed so go forward after reversing

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: 2005 Doesn't Go Forward At All If Shift Into Reverse And Then Go Back Into Drive

I recently bought my '05 Elantra from a small dealership and I'm starting to see a problem with it. If I shift into reverse and then go back into drive, the car doesn't go forward at all. I have to mess with the gear shift a bit to get the car moving. I'm pretty sure it's a bad linkage. The dealership I bought it from said it desperately needed motor mounts when they got it so they replaced 2 of them. I'm sure the problems are related. I can't find any information on replacing it myself though.

Chevrolet - Impala :: 2002 - Transmission Was Loud And Taking Time To Shift - Can't Reverse

Ok so about a week ago I was driving my 02 impala and I heard a loud noise while driving at 30 mph and it lasted till about 50mph. well I had my dad take it down the road while I was at work about 5 days later to hear what the noise was wondering if it might have been a hub. Well I call him an hour later cause he ain't back he says he's at the gas station and it won't reverse. Well apparently the noise was just my transmission being loud cause it was taking a while to shift. I've never had a problem with my tranny but some leakage which I think is just the gasket I just know that theres tranny fluid under my pan on one side. So I went to auto zone and they got a code for p1811. So I'm wondering if it just needs a filter and gasket change or is my tranny gone. It still shifts into gears just takes longer in 2nd and I can't drive in reverse at all?

Ford Transmission :: 1991 F250 - Truck Is Slow To Engage In Reverse Taking About 5 - 10 Seconds

1991 4x4 f250 idi w e4od w 3:55 ratio... The truck is slow to engage in reverse, about 5-10 sec. It also has a very hard shift 1-2. All other shift points are good. Drop down is good, and TC lock up happens at all the right points (feels like anyway).

I've had the truck for about 2 years now, replaced several sensors an harnesses and a full fluid change to solve other problems but this still remains.

Sometimes when I start it in the morning if I let it sit and idle for a few min it will engage reverse much quicker AND shifts way smoother and constant. Shifts smoothly thro all gears, holding a constant 1800-2000 rpms with no drop or lug. Or do I need a rebuild?

Lexus :: RX Suddenly Won't Go Into Reverse Or Forward

Son in college, RX suddenly won't go into reverse or forward. He calls independent tranny shop. They say bring in, we open clean out the broken pieces, rebuild them and seal it up. Approx. price 1600, could be more depending on what they find out. I say, take to Lexus, have them put in a new one, that would be 4000 about. I am not a mechanic! Son needs to get to class and work, he is panicking.

Golf/GTI VI :: Knocking Sound Both In Forward And Reverse

I have a strange knocking sound coming from one of the front wheel wells It sounds like a CV joint going out, but only knocks when the suspension goes up and down. I noticed it after about a week after I installed some H&R sport springs. Its not very loud and is not continuous knocking like a CV joint would be... It does it both in forward and reverse. The H&R sport springs make the car look better and it drives great otherwise.

Golf/GTI VI :: Clicking Noise From Driver Side When Going Forward

So I have this clicking noise driving me crazy. I just spent the past hour tightening every bolt of the subframe, the front and rear swaybar endlinks, the strut tower bolts, and every other bolt I could see that looked like it could make noise. I also verified that the exhaust wasn't hitting anything. I've had ST coilovers on for the past 17000 miles, so I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with these. I also have the BSH torque arm insert and re-torqued that bolt also.

I'm pretty sure the noise has been there for a while, but I thought it was just rocks kicking up. It has seemed to get louder lately though. Like I said I've looked over everything and the noise is still there. It seems to be from the driver side, but it could just be because I sit there. I can reproduce it when going forward, but not reverse (I don't think anyway). And it is more prevalent at low speed...and going over low speed bumps it makes the noise also.

I just purchased an Automatic 2009 Camry LE with 64k 2weeks ago, and noticed that twice it felt like it was losing power on an incline so I bought the fuel system cleaner to see if that worked (seaform). Tonight I go to park it on a street with a slight incline. As I shift to reverse to line the car up, it rolled forward. It shocked me bc there was a parked car right in front of me. I tried putting it in Drive/Park etc then back in Reverse it still rolled forward. I put my foot on the brake and gas at the same time to try to reverse but not wanting to give it too much gas bc I was scared it might fly forwards into the car in front of me (still rolled forward). Finally I was so close to the car in front of me I gave it a try and it still rolled and bumped the truck in front of me but with enough gas it went into reverse.

I have a 2000 grand caravan that has no reverse. When the problem started, it had no forward or reverse and a low ticking sound in reverse. Had it towed to the house where it sat for months. Decided to remove and charge battery and start engine. To my surprise, when i started the van and shifted into drive, the van moved forward and trans would hold even when brake applied without slipping. When i shifted into reverse, i had nothing but a low ticking or knocking noise. Does this sound familiar. Could it be an axle problem or a definite transmission failure.

F Series :: 1999 - No Reverse / Forward Gear When Getting Out Of Park

My cousin has 1999 f-150 v8 automatic. Anytime you take it out of park you get forward gear. Was fine when parked just started happening on startup.
