My 2006 V8 Phaeton has had its yellow engine warning light on for a few weeks. Around the same time, the cooling fan in the engine compartment stays on after I stop the car - even though its Winter here in Montana. So I got the fault code read: P2181. Seems to be linked to cooling system?

2006 Prius with 164,000 miles.
First in the morning, starts fine, 500 feet later I'm turning out of neighborhood and I get lit up with:
Red triangle master light
Yellow brake warning (went away after I did signal check)
Check engine
Maint required light
The maintenance light is on because I'm 5,000 miles out of an oil change. I checked the stick, it did appear low, so I added a half quart of mobil 1 5w-30.
The inverter pump was changed due to recall in 2012, and I do still see turbulences in the fluid.
I have 3 pips of gasoline in the tank.
The 12V is a newly replaced yellowtop from elearnaid. Replaced about 1 year ago.
My wife was driving down our street today, a two way street, narrow at best of times. On one side a monster snow pile ( 6-7ft high), the other side a very big truck coming at her, minimal passing room, like almost touching her mirrors.
The warning lights on both sides went from green to yellow and red ...beeping all the time. The Phaeton stalled. Not once or twice, but four times !!
Question : did the engine stall because of the red beeping lights on both sides sensed imminent danger ? ...... and she kept on going. She thinks so.
I've got some issues with my 2005 Toyata Prius (~150,000 miles). My wife was driving recently and the "Master Warning Light", the "Hybrid System Warning Light" and the yellow "Brake System Warning Light" all came on.
Some quick reading of the owners manual said we should take it to a dealer right away, but because it was a yellow, and not red, brake system warning light it seems ok to drive at least to a dealer. in regard to the yellow brake system light the manual said it could be that: "the regenerative brake system failed or that the hydraulic brake system failed".
Now, I have a cheap bluetooth OBD reader hooked up to the "torque" app on my phone and I thought I would try to see what error codes there were to learn more. But strangely, it did not read any fault codes. I've used this reader successfully on my 2001 Mitsubishi galant, but I'm not reading anything for the prius in this case. I'm not sure if there is legitimately no error code associate with the warning lights or if my app is just failing to read them for some reason.
If I am not mistaken this error code means that I have a coolant system issue. I've checked both of my radiator fans and they both spin, so it makes me think that its the thermostat issue. If I am correct, any link to a replacement part? Or better yet a DIY? I've searched and no dice.
View 12 RepliesMy 2006 prius has the Master warning light(red) and the braking system light (Yellow) on while I am driving, and I went to the dealer.
The technician told me that he could not verify any warning lights ON at that moment, and he performed health and diagnostic checks on it. He inspected connection at auxiliary battery and junction box 1. All checked OK at this time. No repairs recommended at this time.
However, the master warning light came on when I pick up the vehicle. The dealer told me that they will inspect it again tomorrow. And they found that there a P0A08 error code. They suggested me to replace the hybrid converter/inverter.. My car can still drive while the lights ON.
I have an 06 phaeton which runs perfectly but driving to work the picture of a yellow engine came on and does not go out. I tried turning off the engine and restarting it but still it remains lit, steady. the owners manual does not state what this is other than a "malfunction indicator".
View 4 RepliesI'm cruising around and noticed the engine icon warning light go on and stay illuminated. The manual says it is an "exhaust system problem" like an oxygen sensor, and to reduce speed and have the engine checked at a VW service department. I would like to drive back to Evanston (Autobarn) tomorrow but it is about 90 miles from here. I restarted the car in the hopes of it just being a glitch but the light remains lit. Can I do any damage by driving 90 miles. The car seems to still run fine but I am concerned about a breakdown because I have to travel through a few rough areas.
View 16 RepliesI have VW 99 18L automatic Passat. Suddenly, air bag yellow warning light is ON . There has been no accident or crash. Maybe its caz I pulled the seat-belt too roughly, or maybe there is something else to the story. I don't have a scanner. I don't want to go to a dealer/showroom to get the airbags replaced.
View 5 RepliesThe other day as I was leaving my neighborhood, I had to turn the wheel all the way to left to circle out of my culdesac. I heard a brief clank and a yellow light on the dash indicator came on for a split second and went away before I could see which light it was.
I remember when I first bought the Phaeton I read throug the manuals and read something like: do not turn hard left for an extended period of time. I always thought that was odd and wondered why. I also wondered if that clank and brief yellow light was because I was doing this hard left. What's special about left vs right?
I have a 2007 Passat Wlfsburg Edition with 4,300 miles on it. In the message center it stated "Tire Pressure Too Low!" There is also a tire yellow warning light lit. I checked the tire pressure. They were all at 30 psi. I inflated them to 33 psi as stated on the door jamb. The light and message are still there. I checked the owners manual and it doesn't say how to reset it or anything. What should I do?

View 12 RepliesMy yellow (circle with line on each side) warning light for brakes is on in my 2005 VW Touareg. Only 9 months ago I replaced the front pads, rotors and sensors. When I put the car in drive and start to move the warning light flashes 'check front brake pads'. Is it possible it's something simple like a sensor? Is there a way for me to check that? Side note: I replaced the rear brake pads and rotors only 5,000 miles before that. I just want to see if it could be something simple before I take it in to be checked out and told it's something more sinister. I checked the level of brake fluid and it is full.

This is the yellow brake system warning light, not the red brake warning light or the generally similar looking yellow low tire pressure warning light. No other warning lights are on in the service indicator panel. What troubleshooting can I do myself before taking it to service facility?

View 10 RepliesYesterday as I started my V-6 a yellow symbol came on in the top of my center multifunction display. It was a yellow circle with a small square on top of it. There was no script, no symptoms, and when I restarted, has gone away ever since. I looked in the manual but could find no information on this symbol.
View 4 RepliesI know the manual says the tank's cap. is 18, but I've run the gauge to ' E ' with yellow warning lite on and it'll still only take 15 -15.5.
Can it still have 2 gal. past the E marker ?
My wife and I are driving our 2005 Prius with 130k miles and have experienced some weirdness with the car while driving. We've got the master warning light (red triangle w/ !), and another yellow (!) warning light, plus the center display shows a red car with an !. I've gathered that it means something possibly with the brake controller, so when I parked I put the e-brake on.
The car was driving fine with these lights on (we were in the middle of Canadian highways and couldn't stop anywhere) except that cruise control would not work.
Eventually, it actually went into limp mode, where we would floor the pedal and the car would barely accelerate. Pulled over, turned it off for a few minutes, then back on and it drove fine, warning lights still on.
I just replaced the driver's front wheel hub, and I can hear the passenger front going bad, so I'm suspicious that this may be related. Just replaced the 12v within the last few months with an Optima.
This morning I got a yellow warning light flash for a few seconds and then turn solid after driving on the highway for a few minutes. It looks this: (_!_). It is located on the right of the dash display. I just changed my oil and put on winter tires myself two days ago. I hope it isn't related to my maintenance.
