Phaeton :: V8 - RPM At Idle In Park And Drive

What "normal" rpm should be for V8 idling? In my Phaeton I have 620-650rpm in Park position and when I press brake pedal and shift to Drive (or stop at the traffic light) rpm's goes down to ~520rpm. Moreover it goes down to ~500rpm when I turn on defrost of rear glass.

500-550rpm make an annoying vibrations of my car. I've observed it from 2 months. Could winter make this "phenomena" or it may be linked with replacement of generator on November? What is the normal rpm "level" at idle for Phaeton V8?

My mechanic told me there is no possibility to raise up rpm at idle in Phaeton. I asked him to do 750/650rpm (park/drive) but he says it is no possible. Rpm are regulated and controlled by ECU and no possibility to tune it. Is he right?

Ford - Taurus :: 1997 - Overheating While Idle Either In Drive Or Park

I have a 97 ford taurus that when it is at idle (either in driver or park) it over heats. But if you give it some gas and the rpms get up to over 2300 the temp starts dropping immidiatly down to where it should be. Also the heater in the car stopped working not sure if the problems are connected.

The trucks seems to Idle Rough in Park and Drive, Cold or Hot. It mellows out as soon as I give it gas but at stop lights or in park it goes back to a seemingly rough idle.

This is my first Ford Ranger and dont know if its normal. No code or dummy lights.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - Jolts Forward When Shifting From Park To Drive And Occasionally From Reverse To Drive

Recently I've noticed that every time when shifting from park to drive and occasionally from reverse to drive in my 05 Golf GLS, I would have to remain off the gas for 3-4 seconds otherwise the car would jerk forward. If I press on the gas ever so slightly, the rpm would go up to around 1000 then jerk. Why this is happening?

Phaeton :: Cannot Shift Into Park

So I drove my phaeton home today and when I pressed the button on the gear leaver and moved it to shift into park it would not move past neutral and sometimes reverse. The button on the gear lever got stuck in and cannot be moved out of the pressed position... because of this I removed the shifter, and the wooden panel. The plastic piece at the top of the gear shifter has broke off and I cannot figure out how to get into park and the car will not let my key go...

I have a 04 W12 that is having trouble recognizing that it is in park. when i shut the car off and go to remove the key it says please place in park. i purchased a known electrical gremlin car so i am chalking it up to that but should probably fix it. it also does not detect the speed the car is traveling so no digital speedo/ accompanying readings. other than that it is pretty solid. haven't noticed any other "glitches" the park problem is new started yesterday. i have had the car for 2+ months and love it. i have been looking for a W12 for some time now. a

Prius (2010-12) :: From Park To Drive - ICE Come On

I've got my used 2010 Prius 2 weeks a go. I have the following strange observation.

1 - Parked my car with parking brakes

2 - Some time after, I get back into the car, release the parking brake and drives off. I notice that ICE come on IN THE PARKING LOT, when I have my battery one bar from full. My understanding is the ICE should never come on to charge the battery. it is such a waste of gas. I'm in ECO mode, BTW.

3 - I press the gas more when I get out of the parking lot. When I hit the red light and stopped shortly after, I see the ICE is shut, which is normal.

I cannot explain what I see in 2), and this keeps happening every time. Is this a cause of concern?

Phaeton :: When Leaving The Car Park It Did Not Change Out Of 1st Gear

Left the car out in the open for three days, temperatures three or four above freezing. In a car park. When leaving the car park, the Phaeton did not change out of 1st gear. I was only able to give the symptoms 50% of my attention as I was negotiating the car park and its exit - but as I moved out of the car park, and picked up speed the down shift didn't occur until just under 4000 rpm. After that initial hiatus, it changed gear perfectly. Left it again another two days out in the (relative) cold, and the strange behavior has not returned. I wouldn't mention it only it has done this once before, about 12 months ago. Selector was definitely in drive, not s, and definitely not over to the right for manual changing.

Prius (Gen 3) :: 2010 Shifted From Park To Drive?

I have had my 2010 Prius since August 2009, and have never experienced this til now.

I had pulled into my driveway and was talking on the phone using my factory-installed bluetooth speakerphone. When I power the Prius off while doing this, the call is in limbo for like 30 seconds before my phone's internal speaker picks it back up, so I put the car in Park and sat there talking.

I talked for about 10 minutes. Suddenly, the car started creeping forward and I hit the brake pedal. The car had shifted from Park to Drive.

No harm was done, but from now on I'm going to engage the emergency brake too.

Prius (2004-09) :: Jolting When ICE Is On And Going From Drive To Park

My Prius has been jolting when the ICE is on and going from drive to park. It almost seems like the ICE is trying to turn off but does not and it jolts the car as a result.

Is this normal? It also jolts sometimes when the ICE is on and when going from park to drive. The ICE remains on although it almost "jumps" or "jolts." I have not noticed it before, and it only happened intermittently at first, although now it does it most of the time. It does not really have a noise associated although it is mostly a "jump" by the car.

Passat (B6) :: Delay When Shifting From Park To Drive

My car is having delayed shifting (2.0t Auto) when shifting from Park to Drive. Also, whenever im slowing down to turn right or left, and press the gas, it seems to lurch forwars, as it is still downshifting, which seems to be really delayed. Im hoping its the Valve Body since its covered under extended warranty until October, and want to get this taken care of before I trade this piece of crap in for a Ford or Honda. Phaeton :: 2005 - Engine Is Hot And Its Idling In Park Or Neutral

I've had my '05 3.0l TDi since last November and I've noticed a few times that when the engine is hot and its idling in park or neutral after a few seconds it can develop a bit of vibration. Apply some revs, even just a few, and it goes away. Let it idle again and it will come back. Stop the engine for a few minutes start again and its fine for a couple of months and then it'll pop up again. Its not some slight vibration, it s a proper big shudder. It reminds me of my '76 Land Rover and very unlike a rock solid Phaeton!

Phaeton :: DSG Stuck In Park And Won't Allow To Press In Button On Stick

I traded in my 2009 passat CC GT TDI and drove away in my spanking new phaeton full of smiles now after owning it for three weeks that has turned to a as its let me down four times and now yesterday after failing on my drive way was collected by the garage and taken back to the dealership for investigation.

The problem is when the car is cold sometimes it gets stuck in park. The symptom is the car starts fine and with the foot on the brake the green light goes on the dash and the light by the stick but im unable to press in the silver thumb button so i can select a gear. I can feel the the solenoid through the gear shift operate but the button still wont go in.

The car has only traveled lest than 1000 miles. I am really disappointed as you can imagine having saved up a lot of money to buy this luxury car. I know the garage will get it sorted but am I alone in having this problem.

Passat (B5) :: 2003 1.8T - Hard To Get Car Into Gear (Park To Drive)

My fiancee, has a 2003 Passat that she loves and is having a problem that I notice but she hasn't. First start after the cars been sitting for a while makes it noticeably more difficult to take the car out of park.

I did some searching and I couldn't find the exact issue, but it seems people that cannot remove it from park at all were having issues with the brake switch or something like that. Not sure if this applies to us since we can still get it out of park.

Phaeton :: Outside Temperature Gauge And Park Distance System Not Working

The outside temperature gauge and park distance system on my Phaeton isn't working. In place of the temperature reading on the dash it just says --.-C I've had it scanned at my local Bosch diagnostic garage and it showed a fault on all six front parking sensors. I can't recall whether he mentioned the temperature sensor as well but I put a new one on anyway as they are cheap and easy to get at. It made no difference. They were very busy so didn't have an opportunity to do any further investigation or dis-assembly and I was in no rush so am taking it back next week.

I have checked the two block connectors which the wires from the parking sensors and temperature sensors go in to and that seems properly connected. Is there another connector somewhere or is there a fuse that protects these somewhere as there isn't a fuse described in the manual as being related to these?

Phaeton :: Transmission Shift Lever Stuck In Park - Key Will Not Come Out Of Ignition

I searched for a prior post on this without success. I have a serious problem with my '04 V-8 transmission shift lever being stuck in Park in cooler weather. Ny wife is the primary driver, and on some cooler mornings it is almost impossible for her to move the shift lever out of park. She has to let the car warm up a bit, and then move the lever around a bit with all her might before it will finally move out of park. The dealer can't figure out what is wrong. It only appens when the temperature is below about 50 degrees, and with winter approaching, frequent problems lie ahead.

Corolla :: Bulb That Lights Up Park / Neutral / Drive Positions

Is there a bulb that lights up the shifter position on an auto transmission (floor shifter)? IF so... I have 2 that need it done but I can't find where the bulb is since it doesn't lite up any more.

The vehicles are -
1995 Geo Prizm automatic
1998 Corolla automatic

Both need to have the bulb that lites up the Park, Neutral, Drive positions of an automatic floor shifter center console. Both are similar but I cannot for the life of me find this light bulb to replace it.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Rough Idling After A Long Drive In Park

Well all is ok now but I am not one to ignore or forget a symptom. After a long drive into the city over Christmas I pulled in to park at my destination. It was idling rough when I stopped. Vibration my be a better adjective but not too bad. It did not feel like ignition etc, not MIL on and putting it in Part did not change it. I shut it off and went inside for the festivities. Started it for the drive back and all was ok.

Whether some bad gas with water got in or something else I don't know as it as above freezing but I got thinking about this dam harmonic balancer pulley may have had on the 3.3L go. I have seen some post in in 2006 as well with this engine in other models. I got some 47L of quality Shell gas later on as well for the drive home days later. Still no issues but... IT HAPPENED AND I DON'T FORGET so I am thinking about it.

Is this a major problem on SF's some went as early as 30k from the owers. I had no other indicators and I doubt there is going to be much to see in the space with a light.
