A few times I have gone into the garage and found the trunk lid of the car open. It could be that I am inadvertently pressing the key while in my pocket. I am not sure that this is the case since it takes quite a hard long press to open the trunk. Is it possible to have a signal interference or a signal being generated by something else that cause the trunk lid to open?
View 1 RepliesI am the new owner of a 2015 ES350 and I've found that my trunk can be opened using the button under the trunk lip even when I don't have the key fob in my possession (my 2014 Dodge Charger does the same thing). How to prevent anybody without the key fob in their possession from accessing my trunk?
View 14 Replieskeep finding a small puddle in the drivers side corner of the trunk no where else just in this removable pocket. Under it is a flap type of thing which goes into the inner rear wing is that for ventilation. Could water get in from there ?
Can't find any drips from the trunk lid all the seals look mint.
Most of the sedans I've owned in the last 25 years had a way to prevent the trunk from being unlocked from the inside without the non-Valet key. Sometimes it would be by turning the trunk lock in a particular way, or there might be a way to disconnect the passenger compartment lever with the non Valet key.
On this base model Camry however, it seems the trunk will always unlock with the hand lever, and the valet key is only for keeping the glove box locked. Is this right?
I have a 2014 Azera Limited and find it odd that the trunk doesn't have some kind of hydraulic system and just swings open so loosely, especially for a luxury car. Either way, my trunk makes a a creaking sound when fully opened and then again when I start to pull down from the fully opened position. Just wondering if this is normal. It just sounds cheap and is kind of annoying.
View 1 RepliesI purchased a new 2012 Toyota Avalon and had the dealer install a trunk spoiler before I picked it up. Unless the trunk is completely opened and seated, the lid falls down--most times while your head or hands are in the way. I went back to the dealership and they told me that the lifting mechanism was working correctly and that they had never heard of this happening before. They also said Toyota does not make a heavier duty lifting mechanism.
Their advise was basically get used to it because, after all, it is my fault because I requested the spoiler in the first place or to see a member of their sales staff and try to work out a deal on a new 2013 car. I cannot believe that I am the only Avalon owner who has a spoiler on their car. I have talked to the owners of other makes of cars who have spoilers on their cars and not one of them has this problem. Most will hold its position when lid is even less than 1/2 opened.
I have a 2014 ES300H that I just purchased. After driving around for a while I parked it in the garage. After it had been sitting in the garage for around 6 hours, I hear a motor or fan type noise coming from the trunk area. It lasted for several minutes and then stopped. Is that normal and what the noise might be.

View 5 RepliesI'm hearing a clunk when I back out of my garage and cut the wheel to the right full stop. If I turn the wheel lock to lock I hear some clicking. Both of these sounds seem to emanate from the left front wheel area.
I have 26,000 miles on the car. Any conjecture as to what this could be?
My V8 had extensive suspension work done this week. All the front suspension bushings were replaced including the sway bar links. In addition, the air suspension- all four corners were replaced and the tie rods were also replaced.
The reason all the bushings were replaced was suspension noise and the fact that the car would wear the front tires unevenly even after new tires and alignment. The assumption was that the worn out bushings at 64k miles where the reason for the uneven wear of the front tires.
After all this work, I received the car yesterday and the car has more suspension noises than it had before all the work was done.....
When I drive over a speed bump, at slow speeds, I can hear loud squeak noises. Even driving the car out of my garage this morning, I could hear the groaning noises from the front suspension.
I will be taking the car back to the dealer after the holidays so they can check it out. Are these noises normal due to the new bushings settling or something..
I can not start the car by pressing the Start / Stop button. The display shows the message "Key Non found". Remote control key with normally opens and closes the car but the car itself does not open the approach to it. I have two keys and the two are the same.

I've tried everything I can think of or find to get them working but the interior lights won't come on automatically. They work if I turn them on manually, or once I'm in if I press the 'door open' button on the lights they will work when the doors are open.
But surely they should come on when the car is unlocked like every other car? It's getting quite annoying getting into a car in total darkness!
Happened 2 days ago, just as it started to rain. The sunroof opened about 15 cm, then just as I was starting to try to close it, it then closed itself by reversing smoothly.
Since then the sun roof has operated normally. I have waited for this problem to repeat, but it hasn't. For the first time, I tried to do a search, but failed using the key words "Sun Roof" and "moon roof". Since I know there has been several threads regarding the repair of the opening dial using a Bic pen casing, I know I am performing the search incorrectly. Issue only has happened once, and my hands were nowhere near the opening dial.
Purchased a 2004 w12 several months ago , awesome cruiser.
The only fault it now has is the interior lights no longer come on when opening the drivers door and before putting the key in the ignition . I changed the comfort battery last month the old one being completely dead.
The dome interior lights will come on if the key IS in the ignition with door OPEN and go off when door is closed , the reading lights come on if you press the roof buttons but again only if ignition key in lock.
This is inconvenient as you cant find the ignition lock easily in the pitch dark. I searched the forum and one post was useful for resetting the interior light sequence ,but it didnt work when I tried it.
The procedure may have missed something out,as forum members know that the smallest step missed causes a problem.
Looking for the correct procedure to follow for the re sequencing of the interior lights. Trunk/boot light works as do puddle lights when door opened without key in ignition.
All the interior white lights that come on when the doors are opened started pulsating today. It's a very rapid pulsing that's pretty rhythmic and constant not like what I would expect from a short. What might cause this?
View 16 RepliesI have a 2004 V8, and now that it's a bit darker in the mornings and evenings, I've noticed that the dome lights ahead of the sunroof do not illuminate when I open the door. Strangely, the dome light over the back seat illuminates when either the front or rear door is opened. Any way to get the illumination in the front of the car? The lights work fine when operated manually, by the way.
View 2 RepliesMy father recently purchased a 2012 Prius 3. To reduce his insurance premiums, he purchased an alarm system, which the dealer installed for him a few days after he first took the car off the lot. Now, when unlocking or locking the car from the driver's door handle sensor or via the remote, it both chirps (not the horn) and briefly sounds the horn twice or once, depending on whether you are unlocking or locking.
The problem is that when the car is unlocked from the trunk or the passenger door (using the door handle sensor with the key in pocket), this does not disarm the alarm, and the alarm will sound when the door is opened. The alarm is only disarmed when using the remote's unlock button or using the Smart Key sensor at the driver's door. One of the major differences between the 3 and 2 trims is that the 3 has Smart Key capability on the front doors and the trunk, rather than just the driver's door but the alarm has negated this benefit, as opening the trunk or passenger door without first unlocking from the driver's door or remote causes the alarm to sound.
Is this normal for a Toyota-installed alarm?
I have one problem, my trunk does not close, I close but it is not closed, the system does not close and the door is open.
View 7 RepliesToday I tried to open the trunk from the Remote and the Door switch, and it will not pop up, after pressing the button (remote or door) you will hear the click from the switch in the trunk itself, but nothing else, before (when the trunk was working) after the click it will pop up 5 mm that way I can slide my fingers under and lift it.
Dealer said the latch is not pushing the trunk up and they are going to replace it ? After checking the parts manual I can see there are two types of latch, with Hydraulic with Closing assist (P/N: 3D5 827 302 J) and No Closing Assist, that means that's the part they are going to change, the one with Closing Assist ?
Just got back from the store and the trunk will not close. Goes about 2/3 the way and stops. On inspection it seems the cable enclosure from the body to the trunk lid is not retracting(?) properly and causing the pinch protection to kick in as the cable appears to be very rigid.
Two questions: Could this be due to cold weather (less than 20F)?
My key is stuck in the trunk lock and ...
Can't open the trunk from inside the car because the car thinks the trunk is already open.
Can't open manually - I think the latch is broken.
Can't override the power trunk mechanism with Vag Com.
Short of removing the rear seat to attack this from the inside, is there any way to resolve this?
