Why do my door squeak or groan upon opening but only when it's very humid? They are fine in low humidity. How do I fix this?

View 1 RepliesGot my Phaeton in the shop for a right front groan and creak when going over bumps. I assumed it was a bad strut, but the Phaeton tech is coming back with a "busted upper link" finding. Extended warranty inspector is coming out to, um, inspect. Service adviser and Phaeton tech think all four links need to be replaced, not just the right front one and will be advising the inspector as such. We'll see. Meanwhile, looking for a picture of an upper link available so that I can see what is being talked about here?
View 24 RepliesSo two weeks after an unreasonably stiff rear sway bar install, my back doors seem to have gotten rather squeaky when roads are anything but perfect. Opening them and giving them a tight close seems to satisfy them for a few minutes, but I need a better solution.
Is this just a job for some silicone spray in the latches? Hinges?
Bump the sway bar down to 90%?
Is there an adjustment somewhere I could be doing to tighten everything up?
Kind of annoying open your door, then hit the unlock button. Is there an option or some hand motion to unlock both doors when you grab the handle?
View 19 RepliesI have a Toyota Prius 2008 and my key fob has stopped opening and closing the doors. It's one where I can open and close the door using the buttons on the key fob but does not open or start the car from a distance.
Anyway, it stopped working. My wife's works fine. I tried changing the battery and tested both batteries on a battery tester and that showed full charge on both. When I place the battery into the fob, the red light on the remote flashes for some time then stops. It doesn't flash when I press any of the three keys. And the car will start and run fine with the fob.
I would like all the doors to unlock when i open the drivers door. The manual is a little confusing on how to do this or if you can.
View 9 RepliesI am at work and don't have my manuals with me. A friend of mine has a 2014 PIP advance and her door are not opening automatically. She has been pressing button of remote to unlock doors. She didn't even know the door can be open automatically when she insert hard into the handle. She also didn't know about the car pool green stickers, is it too late to apply? She just send in her form yesterday.
View 11 RepliesMy car doors creak very loudly when opening/closing. It's embarrassing. I have tried 3 different sprays: Silicone spray, WD40, and PB Blaster! None of these worked and now I don't know what to do. I'd like to fix minor problems myself instead of always having to go to a mechanic and having them charge me an arm & a leg. The only thing I do notice on the hinges of the doors is rust. I have had this car for 1 1/2 yrs and they've been creaking for about 6 months. I live in the city and nowhere near the ocean or out in the country where you find sand. So I just don't understand why this happened.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2002 SC430 And its the second one I've owned. And for the life of me. I can't remember if the side windows lowered a little when you open the doors. The past five or so cars I've owned did. But this one doesn't.
To clarify. The windows (Both driver and passenger) Would drop about 1/8" when you open the doors and raise up once the doors are close. is it normal that the Sc doesn't do this?
Can I disable unlocking of all the doors when I open the rear hatch from the outside? I figured out that if I use my fob, the doors does not unlock.
View 4 RepliesFor a couple of weeks now, my boot keeps re-opening when I close it while the car is locked.
My usual workaround is to unlock the car, close the boot and only then, lock the car. However, yesterday evening, this did not work, i.e. I closed the boot then locked the car, but as the car locked, the boot decided to open on its own...
Tried it several times, and ended up leaving the car open (we were invited for dinner at friends of ours, so leaving the car unlocked was not problematic) as I preferred this to leaving the boot open...
1999 F250 extended cab back doors won't open. The passenger side stopped opening right after I purchased it a few months back (168K miles). I removed the door panels and reached my hand in feeling around. I know the latch releases are activated by cables but cannot figure out how they work. While feeling and pulling on the cables one became dislodged from its holder. The driver's side stopped opening yesterday . Do the cables stretch, break, or what? Or are the holders the issue? Is there an illustration that shows how the cables are run and connected?
View 14 RepliesLots of squeaking coming from the seat in the past few days. No one sitting in it, no massage or heating/cooling active. Squeaks when I go over the slightest bump or rattle the seat.
View 6 RepliesWho knows how to fill the trunk hydraulics with oil. (Hydraulic pump) mine is make a lot of noise before opening the trunk. And does have a pause before opening and closing. So I guess it is low on fluids. And the hydraulics have some oil covered in the 10 years if use. When holding the pump in a better position the noise is less...
View 8 RepliesI know this might sound completely petty (so much so that I daren't ask the service centre about it!), but the air vent cover on the driver's side has started making a thnk and judders when opening. When closing, it also closes more slowly than the others.
View 3 RepliesI have a minor squeak opening and closing the driver's door. Any recommendation for the best lubricant to use on the hinges? Is WD-40 acceptable or are there better alternatives?
View 5 RepliesMy Phaeton has been worry-free for about a year, but recently the door locks have begun locking on their own. The red alarm light even comes on.
View 4 RepliesThe car can be locked from all four doors. But the car can only be unlocked from the front doors.
My friend cleared all faults using VagCom. No change
He selected and deselected child locks. No change
Does it sound like something that is selectable via Vag Com?
Does it sound like two door handles that have one aspect that is functional and another aspect that is non-functional?
Does it sound like a Kessy issue, even though 4 doors can be locked and 2 doors can unlock?
Had a CEL and went to Autozone to have them read the code. Guy cleared the code then the car wouldn't start and it locked the key in the ignition. After a minute, it started, but now the doors will not lock either by switch or by fob. They don't lock at speed. Also the soft-close system is failing to work on all four doors. Did this dude wipe out my lock programming or something? The alarm still works but the doors won't lock and the child lockout buttons don't work either. Maybe I should get a programming tool?
View 4 RepliesI have a busy family and often the kids are getting in the car with my wife and I. Perhaps I am just not used to the remote yet, but I am still struggling with the timing of the second button push and getting it to unlock the balance of the doors. I would prefer if the first button pressed unlocked ALL my doors and I didn't need the second press.
Is this a dealer only option to enable or can it be done with a via VAG COM? I have read the post about the "unlock all doors when turning off the ignition" and I am going to hopefully get the car coded to touching the door handle unlocks all four doors at once, but would also like this directly from the remote.
Do the outboard vents close like the vents around the clock? My center one opens and closes with the "need' of the A/C system, but the outboard ones are only open.
