Phaeton :: Slight Juddering Feeling When Braking
Nov 27, 2011
I have only done 15000 motorway miles in my 2009 V6 TDI and seem to have a slight juddering feeling when braking. I am sure it did it for a day so a few months ago and disappeared - issue reappeared today. Wonder if it is warped discs? Car has been stood for 2 weeks.
Braking is fine and efficient it is as though you have that shuddering you get when ABS cuts in. Drove 500 miles this weekend and problem still there.

I had the discs replaced by VW UK & my VW garage a few months ago (V6 TDI) , car was close to 3 years and ~50K miles. There was a slight cyclic vibration/ pedal pressure on braking, not easy to detect, but from once you knew it was there it was annoying. I was not convinced the replacement was 100% successful, but it was not until I had 4 new tyres fitted and all rebalanced last week that I could clearly see that I still have the problem, maybe even worse than before the discs were replaced.

-Is there anything else that can cause the same brake pedal feel, other than a warped disc: a bend in a suspension component or the like? I query this as I bent an wheel last year in a huge pothole and wondered if this could have damaged something
-I have found a local company with an on-wheel disc skimming machine that I understand can be excellent to resolve these issues. Maybe this would be the way to go.

I have a 2006 Sonota and I'm getting a slight rub feeling when I turn the steering to the left or right. What should my concern be on this and what steps should I take to solve this problem?

98k miles and if the car is on a slight incline and your backing up or creeping forward it feels like you are going over a rumble strip. that slight stuttering feeling. no codes have tripped. I've asked the toyota dealership and they don't know what could be the problem. The trans axle fluid was changed at 88k and from what i was told there were no metal shavings in the fluid. it was a little dark but after going 88k miles i assume it would be.

while taking turns at slow speeds, but only sometimes. Can't reproduce by turning wheel when not in motion. My 3yers/36,000 miles warranty expires soon. How do I prove I have a potential problem?

New quirk in my '04 Overland, 133K miles. When driving, it feels like I am getting some "wrap up" in the drive line. What I mean is that, when there is even the slightest amount of throttle pressure, and it is let off, there is a perceptible slight pull or surge feeling to the right. When even light throttle pressure is applied again, it will pull back left again. No driveline noises, clunks, shimmies, etc. , just the feel of the car sort of torqueing when there is pressure added or removed from the power train. It is more of a "seat of the pants" feel than in the steering. My guess is that it may be a suspension link or bushing in the rear ended gone, although I do have some fear about maybe the limited slip unit in the rear differential acting up, as I hear these can be prone to issues.

So I'm new to the all time awd car thing. I came from a 4x4 truck which 4x4 was never engaged on pavement or in tight cornering. When maneuvering my is250 awd in tight spots ie. parking lots and the front wheels are at full lock in either forward or reverse there is a slight binding/grinding feeling or faint noise. Is this normal on an awd car or Lexus specific??? Did a quick search and didn't find much about this issue. I'm pretty sure its not tire rub.....stock set up.

I've had this happen to my car lots and lots of times and taken it to Vw about 10 times to get it checked out and they always say nothings come up
When I start my car it runs perfectly fine, but later on it starts to shake and feels like the car wants to turn itself off.
I first thought it was to do with cold starts but it's happen in all sorts of temperatures, sometimes i've driven the car for 10 miles and the engine is at 90 degrees but it still happens.
Videos bellow show what happens.
The car is a 1.6 TDI ...

We had a terrible grinding/juddering on front wheels when turning which did disappear after driving for a few minutes most times, what the problem might be?

I have started to hear a slight (but getting louder) squeal from my brakes when I am braking from moderate speeds (20 mph and under). I know that the car had new stock brakes put on it less than a year ago. What I should do about it?
Stock 1.8T 5spd 2001 discs all around.

I got a problem this morning my car was juddering when I tried to accelerate my Toyota Prius 2004. When it's over 40MPH the car runs smoothly. After few hours it increased and now its jerking and juddering big time. Also when my car is moving the "Traction Control light" flashed even on dry tar roads. When I try to run from the battery the car runs smoothly at any speed. Also on neutral, the car idles fine and no juddering. Since few months I felt like the clutch plates are slipping and engine revs high than normal only when it's running on gas. Seems to be okay on battery.

Picked up my MK6 GTI DSG last Saturday. I have noticed a slight shudder when braking and coming to a gentle stop. At first I thought it may be the brakes bedding in so I kept it over the weekend. By today there's still no change. Is it normal for DSG transmission stop like this? Because I have never driven DSG transmission.

In the morning when I back down the driveway with slight braking, the brakes make a loud hollow squeaky sound in a tunnel. The rear brakes were changed about 2 months ago.

Ever since I took my 18" wheels off for the winter and put the stock VW 16's with snow tires I have on multiple occasions almost rear ended the car in front of me when I experienced what seemed like a loss of brake pressure. The brake pedal did not feel spongy or anything but often in this situation the abs brakes seem to kick in for no reason. I feel a slight pulsation in the brake pedal which I can only assume is an activation of abs. I'm wondering if this slight pulsation (1 second duration ) is causing my brakes to be less effective. The pavement has been completely dry and I was not traveling fast enough, nor pressing the brakes hard enough to cause the tires to lock and trip the abs.

Braking down a hill and a sharp turn (in either direction) around 10mph results in a slight knock (1, not multiple). Is it normal? I have some suspension goodies to put on but i don't want to do that before getting any repairs done if necessary...

My Treg has about 3K miles on it right now, and since I picked it up, the brakes have squealed (some times VERY loud, some times just a slight squeak at the end of the braking process). It is currently in the shop for the second time to get a fix for this or an adjustment, and I just got a call from my service advisor telling me there is nothing they can do to quiet the brakes--it is the nature of brakes to squeak and squeal.
I realize that brake dust (and man, there is a lot of that on this vehicle) can make the brakes squeal a bit, but does it even make sense that they would tell me that brakes are supposed to squeal?
I am also having a sticking door handle and a defective ac/heat control issue looked at while the Treg is in (I can illuminate both the "auto" and "econ" buttons at the same time, instead of one switching the other off). Should a vehicle at this price point have noisy brakes?

I have an 08 Toyota Sienna and yesterday I started to notice a very slight grinding or rubbing sound when I apply the brakes coming from the passenger side front wheel. I can only hear the grinding or rubbing sound when I am going very slowly (like the last 20 feet when approaching a stop sign). The sound pulses slightly like two surfaces that are not parallel are rubbing. There is no pulsation or wobble felt in the brake pedal. I'm thinking it's time to get the rotors turned, but it could also be the brake pads.

My 2010 RX 350 only has 35K miles and I've been feeling that the smoothness in the ride has really deteriorated in the last several months. So much so, that even though I could have squeezed another 5K or so out of my tires, I bought a new set...OEM Michelin Latitude Tour HP. I can't say the ride has improved at all. Today, I brought it to the Lexus dealer for a brake inspection, because I was getting a slight vibration in the wheel when braking. Front brake job was needed. I was given a 2013 RX 350 as a loaner. The ride in that car is so much smoother. Should I be questioning the suspension or some other issue that would improve the ride?

Just purchased a used 2008 prius with 80,000 miles on it. Braking system makes slight grinding noises when getting below around 10mph. I know the brakes are different, so I'm not sure if this is normal or if it means my brake pads need replacing? Car didn't come with an owners manual .

I've had my 2010 Prius II for less than a month and am not particularly happy with it. I've experienced a slight surge forward when braking on uneven pavement at low speeds at least 4-5 times in 900 miles. This isn't something I can duplicate on demand. When I took it in to the dealer after the first time and asked if the ABS fix had been made to it, they told me my car wasn't part of the "campaign" (aka recall) because it was manufactured in March and the ABS problem had been solved by then. However, it sounds exactly like the problem people were discussing in Jan/Feb.
Once when I put it in reverse in a parking lot it lurched backward (my foot was on the brake) suddenly -- not far, but it was an alarming sensation. It also has a high pitched, barely audible whine when moving (can't hear it if I put on the radio). The mechanic said that was the normal sound of the battery, but I don't remember it from other cars I test drove. Is it normal?
I'm keeping an eye on the dome lights every time I park because I found them on one night (they'd probably never shut off after I parked the car during daylight hours) -- it could have been that the light was switched to "on" rather than "door," but now I'm paranoid and constantly check to make sure they're off when they're supposed to be, for fear of wearing down that little 12 v battery. Not fun.
