Phaeton :: Seat Adjustment Controls Don't Light Up At Night
May 31, 2008
My seat adjustment controls don't light up at night. Are they supposed to? I can't believe there is actually a switch anywhere in this car that doesn't light up!

I have been using it a lot over the last 2 years since I bought my 2005 3.0 TDi. Love the car, have had a few issues but nothing major. I do now have an issue with the seat belt height adjustment in the passenger side. It will go down, but not up....slightly annoying as you can imagine. When I press the button to raise the belt, nothing happens. Seat are 18 ways ventilated massage seats.

I'm having trouble with the seat adjustment (12-way) on the drivers seat of my 2005 V6. Basically the front vertical adjustment of the drivers seat doesn't move upwards - maybe a cm at most. The back of the seat moves up and down fully, but the front doesn't, so it feels like the seat is tipped forward... When I try to adjust the front upwards I get loads of whirring and clicking, but no movement.

I just picked up a 2004 Phaeton V8 CPO with 44,700 miles from a VW dealership. My first Phaeton. 24mo/24000 b2b. The last few nights the brake lights have been on in the morning when I leave while it is still dark out.

I bought mine new in 2005, it is a high gloss black exterior with black interior. The wealth of knowledge pouring out from this site about this car is amazing. Recently, tonight actually, I noticed that the light for the passenger rear seat heat/cool control is out. I was wondering if this is something that I can replace myself - or I should go to the dealer for.

Quick question regarding the daytime running lamps. It appears there is no difference when the DRL's are on or when the front headlamps are illuminated at night. Even if I turn the switch to off, and the DRL's are on, it looks no different then when the headlights are on. Is this normal? Are the DRL's just the headlamps turned on or are they normally the small incandescent light as found on lesser VW's?

I'm one month into a new '12 Outback, after previously purchasing a '12 Forester and trading up to the OB. Both cars have proven (to me at least) to have the worst front seats I've ever encountered in any car I've driven in nearly 30 years of driving. The adjustments on the Forester were limited to forward and backward, but even with the power adjustment on the OB, I'm having all kinds of back problems (including likely sciatica problems) that I've never experienced before. No amount of seat adjusting, or extra cushions or pillows, does anything to fix the problem. I'm facing a visit to the chiropractor to investigate the cause, but everything seems to point to the dang Subaru seats. I'm not at all unusual in my body type/frame/weight, so this is incredibly frustrating, especially since the OB, and even the Forester, are otherwise good vehicles and had everything I need at a good price.

My 2007 Prius drivers seat height adjustment is not keeping steady. That means when it's adjusted to the highest level slowly it comes down after couple of days.

The owner's manual for my 2010 Camaro states that the passenger seat height can be adjusted by pumping the handle used to slide the seat forward and backward. However, pumping the handle does not change the seat height.

I just bought a 2005 Touareg. When I have the auto seat adjustment for entry/exit feature turned on and I turn off the ignition in my Touareg, the seat moves WAY back and WAY down. Is there a way to adjust the amount that the seat moves? I already know how to turn the feature off, but I want to leave it on -- I just want it to not move back so much.

Been monitoring this excellent forum for a while, having taken the plunge last year. The car is stunning, although I have been waiting for a gremlin or two for a while now and it finally seems to have happened.
Having set up the driving position using the excellent forum guide, all was well. Last week, however, the steering column failed to move out from the dash to the memorized position. I have tried manually, to no avail. All other motion - up, down and away appear to be normal, just the switch or motor that moves the column towards the driver.

I have recently purchased a 2006 V6 diesel with only 20,000 miles! Best car I ever had! I am driving it in France in August and want to know how to adjust the headlights (the bi-xeon), as nothing in manual. I am assuming there are some levers, screws to adjust behind lights?

OK, so I bought a new Camry (2004) and realized after the fact that the lumbar was all the way forward and not working.
So, like an idiot, I pooped the switch/button off, and tried to make a jumper to see if that would get the motor going.
Well, it sparked and now none of my electric seat controls work.
I have looked at every fuse in both of the fuse boxes and none of them are blown.
Have I just fried my entire electric seat?

I got a 2011 SEL with power seats. Is it possible to VAG the Tig seats to be able to automatically move back when I open the driver side door so there's more leg room to get out and also move back to last driver seat settling once you start the car? I know that feature is standard in some luxury cars like Mercedes.

I have a 2001 VW Passat with only 75K miles. The manual seat adjustment started working sluggishly, so I took to my mechanic. I was told that the mounting is very thin sheet metal and cracked. They welded it up and it is somewhat better, but not nearly as good as new. Can't imagine that my problem is unique. Still a safety issue here - should VW have a recall?

Driver's seat is stuck in partial recline mode. It goes down, but won't come back up...

I have a 2007 Ranger XLT 2 Door Extracab and have a question about the seats in this vehicle. I'm a 6' 1" guy and have long legs. I've lamented how little travel the seats (esp the drivers seat) has. Since I have long legs I have the seat as far back as it apparently goes. On long trips, this becomes exceedingly uncomfortable. To top it off, I had a knee injury recently and the range of motion of my knees are less than normal, making it impossible to drive the truck with the limited ability to move the seat further back.. My question is: Is there a way to get the seat to go further back, without extensive engineering work? I've noticed this seems to be a Ford thing as my wife's 2012 Escape has the same problem.

The only control that is working on my driver's seat is the heat. The other controls are not working. I've checked the fuses and tried to recline the seat but that didn't fix. Is there something else I should be looking at?

My 2004 trunk controls are not working? the key nor the door, or the switch on the lid will open or close the trunk? there is no sound either when activating any switch or button! Wondering if there is a fuse or connector that might be the cause?

My wife is very short and when she drives has the seat in a very high and upright position. We realized that she has to be careful because the driver seat headrest will push against the headliner. I think the adjustment range could have been better planned. Our last car would not allow this to happen.
