I'm wiring up a backup camera, which comes with a voltage sense lead so it automatically turns on/off with the backup lights. What is the fuse location for the backup/reverse lights, or the physical location (and color) of the hot wire for the backup lights, so I can tap into that?

Picked up a new head unit from ottonavi and am trying to finalize the install, but I can't figure out how to connect the unit to the reverse light wire so the backup camera comes on automatically when you shift to reverse. I've searched the forum and seems like the answers were PM'ed and emailed in most cases... Someone mentioned behind the glovebox?
What I've tried so far:
There are two white connectors at the base of the shifter, and while in reverse, I unplugged each (individually and together), and the reverse lights were still on! I tried the connectors I could get to behind the glovebox (on the side and middle top) with the same result.
I am installing a rear view camera and I need a location of a reverse signal wire. In the 2007 Camry that wire can be found at the e48 junction. Unfortunately the 2009 e48 does not match in either wire color or pin location. Any wiring diagram for the 2009 e48 junction, or another location where I can find the reverse wire?
View 2 RepliesMy reverse camera goes over the mirror, its a mirror when not in use and a camera when in reverse. The way this one is set up, the camera taps switched 12 volts at the rear of the car (tapped trailer connector for these) and the video signal runs forward (ran under headliner to center console to mirror). The monitor needs 12 volts, ground, and + 12 volts when I shift into reverse. I just read a half dozen threads where people suggested tapping into a black wire with pink stripe in the driver's kick panel. Just checked, no such wire on mine. I do not want to run a wire back from the taillight, this seems backwards since the power goes from the front of the truck to the reverse light in the taillight I just need to find the right wire. I checked the reverse relay and the fuse in the fusebox and they are both 12 volts when the truck is on, so they must be prior to the reverse switch.

View 14 RepliesWhere to find the headlight washer pump fuse. My owners manual does not list it for some strange reason.
The washer heads both extend OK using the service button, but when I pull the washer stalk only one (RHS) pops out and no fluid comes out, so I am guessing the washer pump has stopped working.
2012 F350 Lariat - want to install cab lights. Can't locate correct wire to tap for power. I want to use the same power that powers the parking lights so these come on as they should. Is the best connect on the driver or passenger side, and what color wire is it? I've read yellow with green stripe (and found about 4 of them) and a brown wire I couldn't find.

View 3 RepliesMy car is getting close to the 55- thousand mile service, and correct me if i am wrong the service is not mentioned in the owners handbook unless i overlooked something. However for the first time since i have the car the service due message is counting down in the readout.
Recently the CEL came on again, giving me an opportunity to use VAG adapter to read out the error code from memory. So went to open the panel underneath the steering wheel which contains the OBD connector. And that's when i got stuck.
According to the owner hand book the compartment has a little latch to open it. The only latch i found is the one used for the hand brake release. So what am I overlooking ?

View 2 RepliesI have an '02 camry v6. My hazard lights started blinking when the car is off and aren't responding to the on/off button. When I turned the car on they stopped for a few seconds then blinked rapidly several times, then back to normal blinking. I tried disconnecting the battery and restarting the car. The battery is only a few months old. What could be causing it? Where is the fuse for it located?

View 13 RepliesI just had a problem come up a few weeks ago where the check lights indicator comes on. We've narrowed down the problem to the white reverse lights not coming on when the car is in reverse.
I had my Phaeton mechanic look at it and he could not find the problem although apparently there is a resistance difference between the brake lights and reverse lights leading him to believe it may be the bulb holders (they are corroded).
The reverse lights connect to many modules so it could be anything.

View 4 RepliesSince last summer my truck keeps blowing fuse 26 and then I have no reverse lights. If I replace the fust its ok for a bit but blows again the same day sometime. The book says its the fuse for revers and overdrive. The overdrive button on the tree shifter stops working too but the truck does not seem to be revving any higher so I think the overdrive itself is fine. I can't find the short but its got to be shorting somewhere...
View 14 RepliesI've got a 2008 Ranger FX4, 4.0L with manual transmission. Recently I noticed that I have no reverse lights. I have to parallel park on busy streets from time to time, so this is a safety issue that I need to fix.
I checked the bulbs, both seem fine - would be unlikely that both bulbs would die simultaneously. I checked the fuse. Again unlikely unless the reverse lights were on their own independent circuit. 10A fuse looks fine too.
Last thing I can think of is a switch. I checked my Haynes Manual, there is no mention of it, which is odd, usually my manual is quite good. Where the switch is located? Any experience with swapping this out?
If there is a fuse...or a switch that could have went bad ( and if fuse which fuse box )...
View 1 RepliesI have an issue with my 2003 Prius. The reverse lights do not turn on when I put the vehicle in R. Checked the bulbs and they are fine. Checked all the relay (fuse) boxes and didn't find any burnt fuses.
I have a Haynes Manual and other than a circuit diagram, there is nothing that I could find about the location of the backup light relay. By the diagram I can tell that it is connected to a "HOT IN RUN or START" circuit and a 10 A fuse. Although it is useful for showing the wire routing, it doesn't tell me where it is!!
My reverse lights aren't working. I assume the trunk cable assembly is fine, as all my trunk opening and latching works and there is no viable damage to the cable. I figured the bulbs were burned out but I pulled the trunk liner today and at least one of the bulbs looks intact. I don't see any fuse listed for reverse lights.
