My rear seat headrest on one side is always up, and I can hear a motor running in the rear seat back whenever the engine is running. Shut the engine off, and the head rest remains up. I couldn't push it down with any reasonable amount of force. Does it need a complete headrest motor, or can the existing one be repaired?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 4 door GTI. I'd like to install my daughter's front facing Britax child seat either in the rear right or rear central position. However, in either case, I'm finding that most of the rear weight ends up on the headrest and I would like to simply remove the headrest from that seating position.
I read in the user manual that to remove the headrest,I pull it to it's highest position and then push the button on the right side of the plastic entrance of the head rest into the seat, and 'simply' pull the headrest vertical out of the seat.
This is similar to how this was done in other cars I've owned. However it is not working for me with the GTI. Once I pull the headrest to the highest possible position I can get to, I press the button but the headrest simply refuses to come out. I've tried this on the other rear seat and same problem. With the middle rear seat I can't seem to pull the headrest out beyond its lowest position.
I have a 2011 Phaeton with manually adjustable headrests on the front seats, haven't checked the rears, the drivers headrest stuck in the up position after moving it to clean underneath, pushed the button to lower the headrest with no luck and noticed the button was loose and not seated properly so I pulled it all the way out long piece of plastic with a small plastic pin on the end, put it back in a it bends the pin to the side, so decided to check out the passenger side it has a shorter piece of plastic with the same piece of plastic on the end and you guessed it that won't go back in either.

View 2 RepliesThe headrest of back seat will bend over when fold down the seat. But one of the headrests can't go back to original up position. The dealer has adjusted the cable but this just temporarily fixed the problem. The problem is back again. I will go back to dealer but can they really fix it? Should I ask for a replacement of the whole seat?
View 1 RepliesMy 04 was in for blown subwoofer replacements. After that, the drivers headrest is not working. I suspect one of the techs might have been leaning on the switch and fried the motor. All other seat functions are OK. Is there a separate (buried) fuse for the headrest motor? Is it next to impossible to get to?? Also, I'm going to start trying to dissasemble the dash to get to the A/C vent cover motors. I have parts ordered, and I'll try to keep you all informed. Should be interesting.
View 8 RepliesThe driver and front pax headrest won't stay up on my '11 GX. They have the RSES installed. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it seems odd that both headrests would experience the same problem. When I raise them, they just fall right down to the lowest position with a thunk.
If I wiggle the passenger one, sometimes it will stay up. It looks like there are a couple of plastic bushings that aren't seated properly, but when I push them down, they just ride up again when I raise the headrest.
I'll take it to the dealer next week, as this should be covered under warranty, but I'd like to know if this is a known issue and if there is anything I can do to prevent it from happening again.
I recently purchased an 06 V8 Phaeton that has just about all the options except the 4 seat package. Other than the notoriously finicky TPMS, the rear seat heater and cooler does not work at all. The rear seat lumbar adjustment and massage features work properly. From what I can determine from service manuals the rear seat heaters and coolers are controlled by J522 Rear Seat.

Now I first suspected that the wheels in the center console may not be functional, because the seat has power. When I took a look at the measurement blocks they responded from 0.36V - 5V on both on the controller.
My next thought is that the controller isn't coded/configured for the rear seat heaters/coolers? Looking for the details of this controller? What should I check next?
I have a fuel leak below the rear passenger seat, just off the fuel tank, something that looks like a filter or fuel pump, dripping fuel and after an hour it just stops, makes me think it`s empty. What is that thing anyways, has a hose running all the way up front? I have 2004 V8 beauty.

Recently, tonight actually, I noticed that the light for the passenger rear seat heat/cool control is out. I was wondering if this is something that I can replace myself - or I should go to the dealer for.
View 4 RepliesI have been using it a lot over the last 2 years since I bought my 2005 3.0 TDi. Love the car, have had a few issues but nothing major. I do now have an issue with the seat belt height adjustment in the passenger side. It will go down, but not up....slightly annoying as you can imagine. When I press the button to raise the belt, nothing happens. Seat are 18 ways ventilated massage seats.
View 3 RepliesIn my 7, if I hit the roof console center light button, it would illuminate both the front of the cabin, and my accent lights in the rear cabin, allowing me to see the kids in the back at night or ensure they have light if they can't find something.
On the Phaeton, I have not yet been able to figure out how the driver can turn on the rear cabin lights. I have the lights set on to come on when the door opens, but obviously that isn't an option underway. Is there a way for the driver to illuminate the whole cabin from the drivers seat?
I know that this features is handy if you are over 6 ft tall but why do they automatically raise when you open the door even if the passenger measures 4 ft? Is there a way to turn of this feature if, for example you whant better access to the rear window for cleaning?

View 10 RepliesThe driver's headrest on my 07 V10 will not lock in the down position. The buttons on the side of the headrest only release from up to down. After a day of driving it works itself up and is annoying. My dealer looked at all of the 07 Touaregs on the lot and they all were the same. My 04 V8 never had the problem of working itself up.

I hit the two release buttons, but the headrest hits the ceiling before the pegs come out of the holes. How are you supposed to remove these things? Does the seat lean forward somehow?
