I opened the boot via the door panel button. Loaded suitcases in and pressed button down on the boot lid.
The two hooks ( plastic and metal one ) directly came out and the boot lid did not move at all.
Tried a reset the whole procedure found on this excellent forum. but no result. I also tried to put my key in the boot lock and it doesnt want to lock or unlock.
Having intermittent power boot problem .. and now i cant get the boot open at all!!!! nothing happens with internal switch, key fob, external switch and i cant even open it manually with the key..
View 3 RepliesJust picked up my car from the VW Centre, I had the Wiring Harness for Trunk Lid replaced. Now the lights within the the boot and the light in the Trunk Close button are not working.
Could this be a fuse? if so which one, left my manual in UK and I am abroad at the moment. Or could this mean a mistake has been made whilst installing the new wiring?
Today I changed my LH battery due to some issues i had when leaving the can unused for a day or two. I followed the changing procedure listed on the forum and everything went as planned. However now my power trunk wont work. I used the procedure to sync the power trunk but now when i hold the trunk button on my keyfob the lights flash etc but no sound or movement from the trunk.
View 4 RepliesThe following have stopped working (at the same time if I remember correctly): power door locks, power mirrors, power trunk release and rear defroster. We are also getting a tire pressure fault warning when the tire pressure is ok. As far as other items located on the drivers door, the power seat adjustment and power windows are still working. I checked every fuse in the interior box and the the rely ant fuses unde the hood. I exchanged the big, square, grey fuse for the rear defroster with the one for the starter and still no luck with that issue.
View 5 RepliesMy Phaeton is approaching its 10th day at VW for a number of issues. Only the week before it was serviced and I was told everything was fine. At the service I asked them to look at the power boot and was told it was reset and working....
I took the car back as there was still a noise from the rear side under the car, sometimes when park was engaged the car did not sense it unless you fiddled with the lever whilst in park, the clock was slow and finally the boot would not open properly.
Specifically the boot issue was, When using either the button on the remote or the drivers boot release the boot tried to open around an inch and then immediately shut again. The only way to open it was to press open and then gently force it open. After fiddling for a while I realised that pressing the unlock then pressing the VW logo twice opened it sometimes! But not always.
Anyway VW cannot work out the problem and apparently their technical support has advised them to change the struts! I cant see how this is the issue .
My 2004 trunk controls are not working? the key nor the door, or the switch on the lid will open or close the trunk? there is no sound either when activating any switch or button! Wondering if there is a fuse or connector that might be the cause?
View 4 RepliesTrunk release switch on drivers door does not open trunk. Remote and key will open trunk. Sounds like a motor is trying to close the trunk when it is being closed, but does not pull it shut ?
1. I did pull on the switch
2. Gas door switch works fine
3. It is a standard trunk (not powered)
I have 2007 mica LS, the key fob and trunk button on dash stopped working the trunk. The button inside the trunk will close it but i have to use the key to open it. I have taken battery post off and checked fuses, but not sure if I checked the correct one.

View 10 RepliesI was having battery issues and had a friend hook up a battery charger to my car today. They pulled some relays to see if they could figure out why it was starting right. When I left for work the car started fine but I notice my windows would not roll down at all. I figured no biggie I would deal with it tomorrow.
When I got to work I realized my key fob had stopped working too. Again, I have a key will unlock it after work and deal with it later. After work tonight, I go to the car, I tried the key fob and nothing. No surprise. But I unlocked the driver door and it won't open, try to unlock the trunk it won't open.
I was told they pulled the relays and reseated them when messing with the battery. I can see a red light flashing below the radio. To top it off the keys to my other car are locked in the trunk along with my purse!

I just went to grab some things out of the trunk of my MK7 GTI when I put my hand down I felt moisture so I picked up the mat and I saw about 3 inches of water surrounding my spare donut.
View 2 RepliesMy friend has a Phaeton and his mirrors stopped working all of a sudden. His car is out of warranty. What it could be? It sounds like an electrical problem to me but you would have to check for power to the mirrors.
View 4 RepliesSo my aux heater stopped working. It may just be a failed glowplug as per the error code but as there is significant corrosion around the controller I thought it best to get hold of a second hand unit, which leads to a couple of questions.
1. Can the glow plug be changed with the heater in situ?
2. What needs to be removed to get the heater out? Is it a big job?
Even my mech says it's easily the most complex car he's worked on, and he's had Ferraris/Porsches etc in before!
I do have the power trunk. I went to open the trunk but instead of opening it just sort of popped up as if it weren't a power trunk. Pressing the close button does nothing and the latch is in a position so that I cannot fully close the trunk. I restarted the car a few times, tried different keys, and tried the trunk reset trick I read about in the Table of Contents.

The key fobs just stopped working. Car was supplied with two fobs and both stopped working. Replaced the batteries to no avail. Press any of the buttons = light on the key works but the car ignores it totally. (even right next to it)
I can use the key for entry / lock /,alarming, but it's really not cricket for such a fine automocar.
My central diffuser he stopped working, some one have some instructions, maybe fotos how to change this part??
View 1 RepliesWe have a 2008 LWB Phaeton. It had some bodywork done on the back wheel arch last week ( neighbour ran into it!) and a tyre reconditioned. As we drove away from the garage we noticed that the whole of the dashboard was not working nothing at all, no speedo, rev, fuel etc etc.
Took it to vw who ran a quick test and thought it may be an earth somewhere as the voltage was reading 10 and not of 12, but couldn't find out where as they would need to look at diagrams on a Phaeton as they don't see many, and they were not able to do for another two weeks.
Our car is currently sitting in an independent garage, who normally look after it, with their mechanics scratching their heads as to whats wrong with it. As they said its like the ignition is not speaking to the the dash etc.
Basically, my power trunk (boot lid) refused to work this morning and continues to do so.
The key fob unlocks/locks the doors just fine, but the trunk button doesn't make anything happen at all. No noise or movement......nothing.
The dashboard display is showing the trunk is open, and the locking mech on the lid is fixed in the lock position i.e., it isn't retracted.
What this could be? Wiring springs to mind as the fabric covering on the loom that passes from bodyshell to lid is already frayed so it's definitely seen some use.
My AC stopped working a few weeks back. The garage looked at it and noticed it had no refrigerant, the fault code stated this also. It was traced to the condenser which was replaced and the system regassed. The AC will still not work. The current fault code is 00716 Air Recirculation Flap Positioning Motor (v113) 005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting/Adaptation. That is the only fault code showing and cannot be reset.
There is no cold air at all. Could this fault be preventing the AC from working? What is odd is that the compressor seems to be running when you switch on AC as it shows up in the diagnostics as running with about 2nm of torque.
My TPMS control module stop,working after resetting it.. Is there a way to fix it or do I need to buy a new unit.
