The Air Condition triggers automatically to ON when I start the car. I would like to Disable this feature and want to manually turn on the A/C ?
Also I have the separate navigation plugged into the cigarette lighter for charging the navi. when I turn off the car, the navi is still ON and charging. How can I code the cigarette lighter to turn off completely when I switch off my car ?
A few months ago I got a CEL, the problem was a lean condition on bank 2. Since then, that problem has happened again two or three times. Yesterday, I got the CEL again and now it's showing lean on both banks. When it was just the single side, I was thinking MAF, but now it's both I'm thinking possibly the fuel pump. The only other thing of note which may affect it is that I'm 90% sure the thermostat has been stuck open for the last couple of years, which presumably affects the map being used, it does throw an "implausible coolant temperature reading" fairly regularly in cold weather.
View 8 RepliesI finally took possession of my Phaeton and have been driving it daily. We're very quickly falling in love. With the Northeast snow storm that just hit, I've now had the opportunity to see how it performs in slippery conditions. When it comes to going, I'm loving the AWD. When it comes to stopping, there are some issues. The car is so heavy that it's difficult to wrangle that inertia, and the ABS is driving me a little nuts. I grew up inland from Lake Ontario, in the northern edge of upstate New York's "snow belt." I've been driving in snow since I've been driving. I think ABS is great for the masses, but frankly I can stop the car more effectively (if a little less controlled) without it. It doesn't look like there's any way to disable it, like you can with the traction control. Are there any secret tips?
View 14 RepliesI have a full size factory spare tire in the trunk and my TPMS is constantly saying the tire is flat or whatever, of course it's not, and of course I've set the correct tire pressure and of course I've recalibrated the system to no avail. I get an exclamation point on the screen for that tire only.
I want to disable monitoring of that tire ONLY. It does me no good since I have aftermarket rims/tires anyway so a flat means bad news for me right now. I don't need to have that spare monitored until I get an aftermarket 5 rim (which probably won't fit in that space anyway.
I haven't been able to find a discussion about failure or replacement of the oil level sensor. I'm getting a error message displayed each time I start the car. I took it into the dealer for an oil change. After they completed the change, they recommended replacing the sensor. I'm inclined to wait another 5k for the next service to do that. Diagnostics did not show any error codes. Doesn't make sense to me. just replace the sensor...

View 10 RepliesMy car lives in a parking garage which by nature is well shaded. In the last few weeks, when I start the car, the orange hands on the instrument cluster come on at full brightness (which I think is normal), but the rest of the normally "on" panel fails to light up meaning, that the white digits on the speedometer range are dark, the ones in the tachometer, etc.
The dash looks like something from science fiction, which is cool, but is nearly useless when all you see is a bunch of glowing orange pointers! After a few minutes, the back light turns on through no action of mine and all is well in the analog instrument cluster area.
V6 diesel engine producing white smoke shortly after startup. I noticed it this evening when leaving to come back to London and shortly after starting the journey the exhaust was laying down a rather nice smoke screen that stopped very quickly after about 750 metres.
I only noticed a small amount of smoke later in journey when pulling away from some lights and it was illuminated by the car behind. The smoke definitely wasn't black and the only thing I can think of that's been out of order recently was the oil being overfilled by the dealer. I did an oil change this weekend and removed about 8 litres (the engine accepted about 6.75).
I bought this 2004 Prius in 2010 with 104K miles. Now at 117K. When outside temp goes to 86 F or above, the a/c blows warm air. If I stop A/C for a while, and restart it, it will blow some "cold" air for 10 seconds, then back to "warm" again. at below 82F it seems work normally, although I never felt "cold" enough like my other car Lexus LS 400 1998.
My mechanics found (using his diagnostic device) that the thermometer temp measure indicate as 28F when outside was at 90F. He can not figure it out. Is it possible that temp sensor (thermometer) gone bad? Or it is just a loose connection which might cause the resistance value change? He added enough refrigerate fluid for the car.
I noticed in glove box there are evidence of glue used. I suspect that the car had some body damage on right side and being fixed.
Anyway, the a/c problem so far happens consistently at around this temp. I have no any other problem on this beautiful car.
I am proud that my leather still looks factory, there aren't wrinkles, creases or scuffs in it. How to keep it looking this way when the car gets up there in age?
View 11 RepliesI have a weird sound from my car air condition, i just need to check if all Rb`s have the same sound or just me. When the air condition is on and car RPM between 850 & 1000, A quite VOoOm sound is heard and you can feel some vibration under your feet. when rpm is more than 1000 the sound disappear, the sound comes only when AC is ON. I start investigating the noise and i when i open the hood and put my hands on the pipes Low and high of the AC, i feel this sound and vibration inside the pipes, i tried to keep the pipes a bit away from the body by putting some rubber, the sound and vibration decreased. why such sound appear at low RPM? Every thing in the AC is normal. I went to the dealer service center and they though it was the AC compressor, and change it, but the sound still there.

View 4 RepliesMy Prius air condition blows hot air sometimes, sometimes it works fine, warm weather seems to increase the problem. Took it to the dealer, they couldn't duplicate problem, said it was fine, but it is obviously not. Where should I start, don't like the replace parts till we figure it out thing. Don't think its the compressor b/c sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Fan is working fine.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2005 VOLVO TRACTOR, Autoshift, Cummins ISX. Recently the Dashboard only works at "cold" condition, after 5~20 minutes of starting the engine, the information Display shows up: check lights control module, check vehicle ECU, check air bag, check climate module, finally show "check datalink". Speedmetre, RPM, oil pressure, water temperature gauges and gear position are all dead, only Fuel, Air, Pressure and Turbo gauges work. We have replaced new dashboard, but nothing changed. And we checked J1939 communication wire OHMS is 60 at either back of dashboard plugs and data link. All modules are working good except information module. When dash was out, we did connect the laptop via datalink. We could communicate with ECU normally. The problem looks like the dashboard is so sensitive and easily quits working. We had checked batteries and main ground cables and all fuses. We did the test, after removing all lights control module fuses, ABS module fuse, climate fuse etc., the dashboard sometimes works
View 3 RepliesI have an 08 Camry that appears to be having the problems associated with the ABS module (intermittent A/C, speedometer not working, etc.).
I've picked up a module/pump from a junkyard. Excuse my ignorance, but the module itself (black portion), does not have any fluid circulating through it? If I'm just swapping that, there is no need to bleed the ABS or perform any programming?
I have a 2002 prius with 130,000 miles on her, and so far so good except for a small problem for the last three months, I get an intermittent P0171 code. I know it means Lean Condition in Bank 1. However, I can run the car for weeks without it coming on. If I go full throttle getting onto the highway for example it may come on, but even then its not all the time. Not sure why only full throttle. But if I drive her gently, I will never see the CEL at all.
Fuel economy is around the usual for me at 46-49 mpg with average speeds of 75-85 mph. I don't think its vacuum related.
recently I change my stock stereo to an after market one n now mfd screen as the check air condition connection message on it so did some research n found out I have to change it out so went to a local yard and bought one and same message, changed it out for another one same thing so about five trys later so same thing! Is it possible that all those screen were broken or is there another problem goin on?
View 6 RepliesI am the owner of a PASSAT 2.0 Tfsi (2007 year) . Few days ago the pipe from the air condition froze suddenly.
After a few minutes the ice melt down and the air condition was ok again!
This can be heard at low speed. two to three bars on the blower speed indicator. It sound like running water. It is not the air conditioner when the compressor in on.
I can not listen to the radio all the time..... when it is peace time, radio is turned off. It sounds like the bearing is going. Had it looked at and was told that it is normal. The DC motor is suppose to be quiet?
