How to remove the sunroof shade/screen? The headliner on my shade is falling down. I'd like to remove the shade for repair. I'm hoping the entire headliner does not need to be removed.

I offered to do his headliner for him, but would like to keep the OE pattern. I can get regular stuff from a local fabric shop, but didn't recall seeing anything close to what is in there.
So my sunroof is stuck open and the shade is all the way forward. When I try to close it the glass touches the shade and then goes back to the open position..

View 4 RepliesA rattle has developed coming from the headliner behind the sunroof, I hear it when driving over rough roads. It seems most noticeable on the passenger side. I can replicate it if I thump on the headliner in the backseat behind the sunroof. I can make it stop if I push up against the headliner when sitting in the back seat. And I am pretty sure its not coming from the sunroof which has its own set of noises.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 corolla S with 32.5k on it, so my 3yr/36k warranty is running up in a few months. my car from day one (that I had it, at 17k)has had an annoying rattle in the headliner ahead of the sunroof, near the overhead lights. If I press up, even slightly on the lip of the headliner around the front of the sunroof cutout, it goes away. Dealer thinks its normal and says repairs wouldn't be covered under warranty.
The second is a new one, when I go over a bump in the road at highway speeds, there is a squeak coming from the center of the dashboard, at first I thought it was a strut, but after driving back and forth on the same stretch of road for half an hour, I found it to be coming from somewhere behind the radio. Dealer says, squeaks will happen as a car ages.
Do I need to take it to a new dealer (about an hour away) or can I fix this myself?
Apparently, VW assumes that if you have a sunroof, you must be willing to tolerate rainwater dripping on your front seats and running inside the headliner. I can accept almost anything, but this is beyond belief.
I have seen a mention or two of water on the floor (and I didn't even check for that), maybe a leaking sunroof before, but I never thought it would happen to me.
How to remove the light lens that covers the headliner mounted door lamps? The one that covers the 3 lights with the 2 side switches in the top center. I bought LED's for the lamps but can't see how to remove it without butchering it up.

View 5 RepliesThe knob that controls the sunroof has broken or sheared off. Still in place, but spins freely. Can still operate roof by pulling down on knob prior to turning.
View 6 RepliesI had my first potential problem happen yesterday. I parked my car in a parking lot and my sunroof wouldn't close. I think that the pinch protection was the culprit because it started to close and would open when there was about a 3 inch gap. It never closed but when I drove away and tried it again in motion it closed.

I can only push it up when the dial is in the 'roof closed' position. I've read somewhere that this 'button' should do something, but when I press it nothing happens. Do pushing up the sunroof control dial is supposed to do anything?

View 2 RepliesHappened 2 days ago, just as it started to rain. The sunroof opened about 15 cm, then just as I was starting to try to close it, it then closed itself by reversing smoothly.
Since then the sun roof has operated normally. I have waited for this problem to repeat, but it hasn't. For the first time, I tried to do a search, but failed using the key words "Sun Roof" and "moon roof". Since I know there has been several threads regarding the repair of the opening dial using a Bic pen casing, I know I am performing the search incorrectly. Issue only has happened once, and my hands were nowhere near the opening dial.
I need to remove the passenger side rear view mirror. To do so, according to the workshop manual, I will have to remove the interior door panel first. Is that right or are there any shortcuts?
View 2 RepliesStarted working on the salvage W12 today and I need to remove the bent radiator and AC condenser. The AC refrigerant system is already low per the VCDS system (no surprise, the condenser has an imprint of the VW logo in it ) so I'm going to disconnect the lines from the condenser. Since I'm not going to put a new condenser in until I'm done with the rest of the work, I need to know how to plug the two refrigerant lines in a way to not contaminate the rest of the system. Are some rubber plugs over the connectors going to do it or is there a better way?

I'm having trouble getting the center box (under the arm rest) removed; I found the 4 screws in it but I'm having trouble getting the cigarette lighter / power adapter out. The outlet doesn't seem to push forward like, say, the one next to the shifter lever. Nor does it seem to unscrew. Am I missing something obvious?
View 3 RepliesI use the rear sunshade in the summer months, but not all the time - just here and there.
There has never been a child, or anyone in the backseat who has ever messed with the rear shade, it either goes up or down, and has never been messed with.
Today I went to put the shade up, and all I heard was a click from the back area where the shade is. I tired it several times, but all I heard was a little click, and the shade did not go up.
I put the car in reverse (which causes the shade to go down when its up), I put the car in drive, then returned the car to park. I hit the button again, this time the shade came up.
Once the shade was all the way up, I waited a minute and pressed the button again. The shade arms started to fold down, then stopped. The shade will not go back down. I put the car in reverse, and it attempts to bring down the shade, but it wil not go down.
My thinking is, its not the switch (because the signal is getting to the shade mechanism, I can hear a click back there, even if it doesn't go up or down).
I'm thinking it's not the motor, because it "did" go up, it just won't go back down. Although, it could be that the motor is weak, and not enough power to lift, or lower the shade?
