Every once in a while one of the headlamp washer covers will be open when I park the car. When that happens I just push it back into place, but it would seem that there should be some sort of auto-retract spring or something to keep it from gravity opening. Is there a spring that might be missing on mine?

View 1 RepliesThere are threads discussing problems with headlight washers not retracting (stuck open) but I haven't seen anything about the washers not extending. The passenger side works fine but the driver side does not extend. The pump, however, does seem to work because washer fluid flows from under the front of the car. Thus, the sprayer is spraying inside the bumper (probably not a good thing).
When I press the service button, the passenger side opens and extends but the driver side washer cover does not budge. What would be the best way to troubleshoot this problem? Is there a way to access the washer without taking off the bumper? Can the washer cover be pulled open (sounds like a bad idea)?
I took my car in for its first detail (while mine, that is). How to keep the front vent covers open with the car off, for purposes of cleaning the vent directional slats. The best I could figure out in a hurry was, with the key in accessory or the engine on, to switch climate to manual (direct air) to open the covers, set the fan to lowest speed (one light segment above off,) and position the vent switches to furthest left light illuminated (again, one position above off.) Is there any way to keep the covers open with the car, or at least the HVAC fan, off?

View 8 RepliesMy driver side door has not been working for about a month now. It started gradually opening after a million tried but now it just wont open. Tonight one of my lamps stopped working when I was trying to install HID's. I suspect the fuse is burned out but cant get to it cause the door wont open. How can I get my door open. Need headlights as I get out of work late night and dont want to get pulled over for a headlamp being out.
View 8 RepliesI recently bought an 2005, 3ltr diesel Phaeton (though packed with options) in Germany. I drove it home and was, and am, in awe of the motoring experience.
As a fan of cars I am lucky to own a Opel Speedster (VX 220 in the UK) and a Buick Riviera Boattail from 1972. But the Phaeton beats all of them together!
But......my newly acquired Phaeton failed the technical control over here in Belgium due to the headlight washers (squishers?) not working (coming out of the bumper). Not even with the manual override through the control screen.
Dealer have checked every fuse, replaced on of the batteries which was not functioning properly (and was causing numerous 'power' errors). The car has been with them for two weeks now and I am getting desperate to drive my car.
My car was involved in accident 12 december 2014, still not got car back now garage. Windscreen washer not working no power to pump and they have changed the pump. I was supposed to get it back 4 times and its still not fixed.

It's clogged and I'd like to try and soak it in some stuff to dissolve the clog and/or replace it myself. The dealer was going to charge me ~$150 to do this and trying to see if I can do it myself.
View 5 RepliesToday I was filling the Windshield Washer container and all of the liquid went directly to the floor, that means something is leaking, but I haven't had any warning symbol in the console neither the VAG-COM system, is this a common problem ?, is it too hard to fix it ?, I will assume it should be covered by the CPO warranty ?

The washer heads both extend OK using the service button, but when I pull the washer stalk only one (RHS) pops out and no fluid comes out, so I am guessing the washer pump has stopped working.
My 2004 Phaeton has apparently developed a leak with the windshield washer fluid resivoir. Last week the check light came on for low washer fluid. I filled it and now a week later it's on again.
Is there anything in particular that I need to check? I thought I recalled reading about an issue concerning this but I've not found it.
One of many issues I need to fix - headlight washer fluid cover seems to be stuck open. i applied moderate force to push it back in, but it did not move, and i do not want to risk breaking it.
I'm thinking some wiring isn't right, maybe connectors never got reconnected.. the auto adjusting headlights don't work either, and the washer fluid line from the firewall that runs to the washer fluid tank was hastily crimped on due to the plastic hose fitting being most likely broken off or lost. Does the bumper need to come off to mess with it? guessing yes.
Just got in the car and the washer fluid low warning popped up on the dash. As I'm refilling it and get towards the washer bottle being full I see it leaking out the bottom of the car. The car hasn't had any impacts and it's mild here at the moment so the bottle hasn't frozen and cracked but seems to have just started out the blue. Otherwise, swap the washer bottle? I seem to recall seeing it when replacing one of my horns and can't imagine it's much of a job but you never know!

View 1 RepliesNot sure what they are called, but my front/right side/orange colored /non-blinker/US configured light is not illuminating. This is the fairly dim light that comes on along with the headlights.
It doesn't look easy to access in terms of bulb replacement, so how to get at it...or perhaps it's as simple as a fuse change.
At first I was hearing an occasional click as I shifted the weight of the car from left to right, or right to left. Then it started making the clicking noise a little more, now it clicks during parking lot turns in either direction all the time.
I read that it could be a wheel bearing? but with the turning clicks i'm almost positive its a CV axle going bad.
Odd thing is now that the iPhone app updated, whenever I lock/unlock my car via the app the front and rear parking lights flash (DRL and tail lights), once when locking and twice when unlocking. That's never happened before. The doors would just lock/unlock with no lights. Found that a bit weird considering all that was changed was the app software, unless an update was pushed to the module in the car and I didn't know. Not really a concern but odd nonetheless...
