View 3 RepliesWell, I will be taking the Touareg in for at least the 3rd time regarding this problem. The first time they told me it was a bad battery, so they replaced that. They also gave me a new battery last year, so I am on #3 now. I specifically asked if it was the alternator cable as my voltmeter had been reading anywhere between 12.5 and 14. They said it was just the battery but did keep it an extra night just to be sure the service manager could take a look at it to verify.
The second time I took it in they reset some electrical and reprogrammed some module...I don't have the ticket in front of me.... Again I asked about the alternator cable and again they told me now.
Well, for the past week or so the consumers have been shutting off almost daily. My wife normally drives the car but today I was out in it and it happened twice to me. It seems like it happens more so when it is cold, but I might just be crazy.
I am going to take it in. Is there anything else might be, other than an alternator cable. I truly love this car, and when I look at any other SUV, except Range Rover (can't afford one), I fully believe that the Touareg is better in every aspect, with fit and finish better than any other. This electric consumer thing is starting to get a little obnoxious though.
I have a 2004 TReg, V8, and air suspension. In the past three weeks I have gotten the following error message displayed for about five seconds each of the six times it has appeared on the MFI:
"Electrics: Consumers are switched off."
Nothing seems to happen while driving; the radio and everything else seems to keep working.
I have since purchase of the car for 9 months ago enjoyed the use of the rsap functionality with my S6 connected over the Bluetooth.
Now without any knowable change of settings or update or hardware I got a no network message after connecting to the car.
The phone and the car are still connecting over BT and the phonebook is transferred and all the adjustments within DIS are working as before, I can even make a call but without connection to a network it won't work.
I know GP2s rsap is restricted to 2G networks and if I search networks manually with DIS , the car finds 2 of them, but can not connect none of them.
My service provider Comviq is telling me that there has not been any changes on the SIM card accessibility or newly implemented improvements or updates to Android.
They could anyhow confirm the 2G net being rather weak in the area and this could be the possible reason.
This morning when I went to start my car i got a Service Now message. Once the car was started it went off and didn't come back on. I have no warning lights present on the dash what so ever. I've never seen this before.
What does it mean? I have an 04 W12 with 60,120 miles. BTW I've had all service work done for the 60,000 service. Car is beyond up to date with it's service.
Today after leaving office I switched on the ignition and for the first time I see this massage "Immobilizer activated". I went out to look at the car and found some finger prints on the driver side window.
Is the car so sensitive to touch? Or the alarm was activated for some reason and some one tried to look inside the car?
Lately I've been getting the Stop! Car too low! message when I start the car if it has been sitting more than 6 hours or so. the front appears to be too low. After 20-30 seconds, the front end raises up high enough and the message goes away. It didn't do this when I first got the car. I'm going in for my 80,000 mile service soon.
View 17 RepliesAfter 3 trouble free years my car had a different TPMS problem, with TPMS FAULT message popping up. The dealer initially changed one or two sensors and then the most updated module. For 1 day there were no problems and while driving on the highway the malfunction warning came up again. Now they are suggesting it could be related to the tires that are not the original ones, but same size and specs and I have been driving on them for a year without any problems.
View 4 RepliesToday I had been driving about ten minutes when I got a "Check Gas Cap" warning, inclusive of beep and appropriate icon. Pulled over, switched off but left key in (this is equivalent to a warm boot in my experience), opened gas cap and closed again (it was fine). Turned engine on, got same message, remained on until destination (approximately 20 minute drive). Parked and locked car for approximately 2 hours (equivalent to a cold boot). When I turned on the engine again, the message was gone, and remained off for the rest of the day.
The car had been sitting unused in a heated garage for a little over two weeks, and the weather today was nice, sunny, a few degrees above freezing.
In my view, it clearly was not related to the classic "fuel cap not tight enough" problem of modern cars: for one, I had not just refueled (in fact, I have a little over half a tank). Also, I always tighten the cap until I hear at least a few clicks. SO I wonder if it might be an early warning that my maintenance battery is getting weak, i.e. spurious error message triggered by low voltage?
I haven't been able to find a discussion about failure or replacement of the oil level sensor. I'm getting a error message displayed each time I start the car. I took it into the dealer for an oil change. After they completed the change, they recommended replacing the sensor. I'm inclined to wait another 5k for the next service to do that. Diagnostics did not show any error codes. Doesn't make sense to me. just replace the sensor...
View 7 RepliesWhen I park my car and shift the selector into "P" the car will not allow me to remove the key until I jiggle the selector. I get a "please shift the selector into P"
After it's jiggled it unlocks, and I can then remove the key. I would prefer to fix it myself, rather than take it to the dealership.
I am having some difficulties with the stereo in my 03 W12.
Suddenly it stopped working.
When i press the cd button - I get a message that says that there is no cd player avaliable. When i press the radio button - I cant see any stations and there is no sound.
Today I received a message on the MFI telling me that the coolant was overheating. My better judgement told me to immediately pull over at the next available spot to turn off the car since the coolant temp gauge was almost at 280. This is well over the 200 where it usually resides. However, the oil temp gauge was right at 200 which is normal.
Perplexed, I called my dealer. The Phaeton Tech was gone for the day so they suggested that I have the car towed in for inspection. Knowing the temperament of the Phaeton (2004 V8), I chose to restart after about 5 minutes. At that point, everything was reading fine & I drove home (about 20 minutes). I ran a VAG-COM scan to see if anything would come up, but nothing did.
I'm getting a service now message on my display but no other warnings. Why this would be coming on?
View 7 RepliesAs I was driving today, I flipped the fan on in my Saturn to clear the windshield. Shortly after I did that, my radio shut down, and wipers slowed down. Car still ran. After stopping for awhile, I began to head home, stopped at a red light, and all electrical shut down as soon as I turned on my turn signal. Wipers, lights, etc. Car still ran, so I went to the nearest parking lot. Engine started running rough when I opened the door, then it quit & would not re-start. We just replaced the battery (original) in December & I am thinking this might be the alternator? My car has never given me one bit of trouble (except for the dead battery) until now.
View 1 RepliesI currently have a 06 camry se v6 3.3 3mz-fe with an electrical issue. Here is the list of issues
1. whenever I draw power to do anything after the car is started some things restart it self or shut off then slowly come back on. For EX if I am driving and apply the brakes the radio shuts off and/or the gauges reset (like I am turning off the car and re inserting the key).
2. if I roll all the windows up at the same time same thing as above.
3. if the radio is too loud same thing
4. everything inside the vehicle is dimmer then before.
while this is happening the engine is still running and never shuts off only electrical stuff shuts on and off.
this is what is electrical aftermarket on the car that I have changed
pioneer AVH-4000
JL 150/4 500/1
JL componets front 6x9 rear vr 12"w6v2
LED mood lights interior at feet front and rear
HID's low and high
1.5 farad cap
optima red top with dual post (side mounts used for factory connections top for system 0ga connections)
I have also done the following
disconnected all of the above (so no lights, radio, interior lights)
replaced the alternator (twice, the first was a DOA from autozone and now I fear that the second one is going bad because its not charging @14.??v anymore im lucky if it charges at 13.6)
checked all my grounds under the hood and trunk
checked all fuses and relays that I can find
charged the battery even when it tested good but was low at 12.1v
checked all of the wire harnesses under the hood for shorts or exposed wires
I have done almost everything but strip the entire car down to shell and inspect the whole harness and behind the dash, which I don't have the time to do. I have been trying to solve this issue for a month now and its not getting better its getting worst so I make the last step and take it down to the dealer.
What does it mean when the PRND2 area all illuminated at the same time? Normally only the gear selected will be illuminated, but yesteday I got a solid bar illuminating all the gear selections. Couldn't find any reference to it in the manual. Shut the car off and restarted and the problem went away.
View 24 RepliesI have 2004 V8 Phaeton ,the message LEVEL FAULT WORKSHOP. keeps appearing ,then disappearing, sometimes it will stay until the car is turned off,. When it comes some times even on long highway journeys I wont see it at all!. When it comes on nothing seems to change.
View 6 RepliesCame back from car wash (probably no significance) pulled in garage turned off ignition and the title message came up in the center display. Car will not start. At this point I have no Vag Com and the car will not start.
View 2 RepliesI started back up again and 10 seconds later it came back on, but then went away for the rest of the 30-minute commute. Went out during lunch today and there's no message.
I'm gonna do a vagcom scan when i get home, but wanted to know if there's any history of brake fluid leaking and needing to be topped of.
I have received this alert a few times while driving - it lasts a few seconds and then goes off. My mechanic says oil pressure is good and suspects erroneous message. I also received that message once while the engine was not running, ignition on, listening to the radio. This seems t support erroneous message.
