Noticed either one or both headlights flickering when accelerating?My dealer replaced the bulbs, but the problem is still occurring. It's not just me as I was followed by a Phaeton in London with the exact same problem!
View 8 RepliesPast couple of days I've had a warning pop up for "Check lights" sometimes even before i have turned them on although I do have arrive depart set to activate. On looking around all seem to be OK apart from maybe 2 leds within the tail lights. It does seem to go out within a couple of mins of actually setting off as well so clearly somethings sorting itself out.... What to check next? they seem to be working fine, I can see them autolevel when I pull up behind a car and the car settles on its suspension etc.
View 6 RepliesI just lowered my car with H&R springs and I did the flash to pass vagcom change. When the car is still and I turn on the high beams or flash it, everything is fine. Is when I start moving, and then put the highbeams or flash it when the xenons starts flickering mimicking a strobe light and is giving me an error message on the display, right or left beam dipped error.

I know the type of lamp to be used: D1S 12V35W.
I looking for a exploded view/instructions how to extract the front lamp units in order to replace the bulbs.
Can I just replace the bulb to fix the flickering problem with the HID headlights? Before it was once in a while but not it's more then I would like. I think the problem might be the bulbs vs the auto leveling (I don't see it moving in a park position).

View 1 RepliesNoticed a slight flickering of my guage lights recently. All other lights in the car as well as all screened displays are stable and do not fluctuate. I've raised and lowered the instrument dimmer control which functions as it should to no avail. Voltage of left battery is to spec so I assume the alternators output is OK.
View 3 RepliesMy phaeton's gearbox has progressively gotten worse.. When gearing down after accelerating I am regularly getting a very loud and aggressive bang rather than a smooth gear change, I believe the torque converter is on its way out or the transmission fluid is low.
What transmission fluid I should have in the Phaeton is it the 75w90? I want to try and top up the transmission fluid rather than getting the gearbox serviced as the waiting list in Dortsmund is too long and there is nobody nearby that I am aware of.
I have a 2004 Phaeton V8 whose engine makes a noise which just shouldn't be there. I occurs if you accelerate the engine (also when the car is not moving) at about 1500 rpm. VW dealer says its okay.
View 8 RepliesMy bi-xenons are too low as delivered and I need to move them up. I've spent several hours reading through the numerous posts here regarding this, but they seem to be split as to whether this should be done manually with the screws under the hood, or electronically with the VAG-COM.
I have a VAG-COM, and where to find a setting for this given that the 55 module isn't active on the Touareg. I messed with the screws, and while that did raise the headlights, I'm afraid I might be compromising the auto-leveling feature of the xenons...
Contemplating getting exhaust on my 2.5L SE. Haven't decided on what type of muffler, but I would only get one (1 in with 2 out). Two questions:
First, I'd like to get the bottom black piece from the V6 Passat with two cutouts for the exhaust tips. This way I wouldn't have to cut or modify mine -- just swap them out. Can you just swap out the black plastic or is the bumper just all one piece?
Second, on the right side bumper -- under the frame -- there is large cover. On the opposite side it's where the tailpipe is and what looks like another muffler? What's under this cover?
My bad for not knowing the technical terms for these parts.
Having trouble finding h7 xenon bulbs anymore. Most say discontinued and the ebay crap burns out right away.

View 11 RepliesI cannot turn off the Xenon head lights in my early 04. I have the DRL option on. If you open the door, turn the key on for the radio, just want to jump start another car, etc. - always on.
View 7 RepliesI've searched many threads looking for a successful conversion of someone buying the OEM assembly including balasts and bulbs, housing, but nothing really shows if it's possible. I've only heard noise that either you can do it by buying silly aftermarket kits, etc. I've done the OEM change in my MKIV GTI before, but the T-reg is different and not sure it's plug and play. I found the complete assembly online with HID lamps 1st vw parts. They price each side at around $390 each. BUT my question is will they plug in and work? I have the VAG-COM so programming the car is not a problem. I've heard that I'd need a controller, but not sure if that's the case or not.

One has everything i want, but it's halogen, the other has bi-xenon but missing a couple things in the "want" list.Would much prefer the first one, if the bi-xenon can be easily retrofitted.

BTW I'm thinking to replace ATF in my tranny. I did check post history and I couldn't find any post about this,
View 3 RepliesOk, so I pull into the garage tonite and it looks like the headlight is out (Passenger Xenon), I check. Yup. So, I turn the lights off and on and she comes back. Now, I have heard there is problems with the ignitor/etc with these lights. I am at 34,000 miles on the car. Is this covered under warranty or should I just make do with it. I suspect this has happened before as I had my coworker tell me my light was out before.
View 4 RepliesI recently lowered one of my client's 2008 passat and since then the xeon headlamps are pointing way too low. I did the manual adjustment with the allen key screws but I'm at the maximum on the adjustment so I'm sure there is a way to compensate with recoding the motor. I have VagCom but I can't seem to do a recode. What is the procedure?

Do all HID low beam headlights have Xenon in them? Can you buy an HID bulb with no Xenon? Does it matter for my car? I read in some places HID and Xenon go together then I read elsewhere you can buy HID bulbs with no Xenon?
