I'd like to try some "mixing of interior parts", that's why I'd like to get this wooden part around the shifter in the middle console out to change it into another color! The console, the cupholders stay in old look, but ashtray cover, ZAB, and the part around the shifter will change....if I find out how?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 camry xle and I just noticed that part of the shifter panel, you know where it says P, R, D, etc, gets hot warm to the touch whenever I turn on my headlights instrument lights. Its the back left corner of the shifter panel where the wood trim and the brush aluminum cover meets. I don't drive to much at night so I didn't notice this before.
After about 20 minutes of having the lights on, it start feeling warm. There must be some kind of transistor there that powers the illuminated light of the P, R, D, etc.. Does your panel feel warm after your headlights instrument lights have been on.
It happens when there's side to side movement or any gear change. I've tried spray/grease nothing seems to be working. I've read on other forums people replace everything under the boot only to have it return in a few months. I would really like to have this this squeaking gone. Cars a 2012 GTI
View 13 RepliesI have a 2011 camry se and recently i try changing the shifter led and i dont know what i did but now the light for that doesn't work including the lights for the A/C, radio, steering wheels, and glove box. but every other lights that i have led in does work. i check the fuse to see if it was blown wasn't that.
View 3 RepliesMy Mustang is an automatic. The shifter in the console sticks when changing gears. At times, I have to keep it half way into another gear or else I hear grinding or the car won't go into gear. Is it my transmission or my console?
View 2 RepliesSo, both of my 07' and 13' former GTI's developed that "old wooden ship" noise in the front suspension when it was cold and dry outside. My 13' was far worse than my 07'. It grew to dread going over speed bumps in my 13', it got that bad. I was about to take it to the shop to get that fixed when I decided to just trade it in for the new one instead.

The transmission works great in both Drive and Sport mode but the shifter doesn't want to move to the right to engage Tiptronic mode most of the time. I can get it into Tiptronic about 20% of the times I try. Isthis indicative of any bigger problem?
View 5 RepliesNoticed this a few times. 2004 V10 and when it changes down to first gear it does it with a thump. almost feels like the car has stalled. Doesn't do it all the time but now I am looking for it I find it.
View 5 RepliesI thought it would look much cooler if the front turning signal light bulbs are LED bulbs. So I bought two, took the original bulbs out and put the LED ones in. It fitted perfectly but they do not light up. Don't exactly know why but I believe it's because the poles are reversed. Is there anyway to get it working?

For some time i have been noticing that the car has a slight hesitation when changing gear from 1 to 2 and barely noticeable from 2 to 3, but as the car gets warmer the hesitation becomes shorter, I don't know if it really is a hesitation , it mostly feels at light acceleration before the oil gets to operating temperature and feels like it slips for like a half second before engages second gear , but as the car warms up it gets better , the car has about 230.000 km , since i bought it i put 50.000 km and did not change the transmission fluid and i guess that before me no one changed it, VW says that the atf should not be changed and many people say that it could make it worse, what the problem is and should I change the Transmission fluid ?
View 13 RepliesI would like to upgrade my rims, from originally 18 inch Champion to the Omanyt, but I once heard that it is necessary to change the wheel alignment (german: spur and sturz) if you want to use the 19 inch VW Omanyt (ET40 255/40 R19) rims on Phaetons that were shipped with 18 inch wheels. Is this correct?
View 4 RepliesI recently changed the bushings and installed SS kit. I don't know if this was the case before, but now while in any gear, i can still move it approx half inch to the right and half inch to the left.
I checked everything and all screws are tight. Could it be that the shifter cables need adjustment?
V6. Have a new a/c compressor and drier/accumulator to install. The box the compressor came in says "THIS PART CONTAINS NO OIL."
I will be taking the car in to a shop to get the a/c charged after I replace those components. What do I need to do to ensure the pump isn't damaged from the time I install it until it gets to the shop (which is about 10 min away). Towing is not an option.
I know about the cans of oil that you put into the low end side of the a/c system, but there is no negative pressure, so not sure if that would work...
After reading up on things to do for maintenance, I've decided to replace my struts around the 95k mile mark.
While I'm down there, is there anything else I should replace/do while the wheels and struts are off?
I've read some people talk about replacing CV joints as a preventative measure, others about bushings but most seem content with just the struts.

I just bought a 2012 Camry SE. Came with one master key. Bought a replacement online and I am about to have it cut/programmed. I called an auto locksmith and the guy indicates he can program the key to start the car but not the remote part of the key. How do I program this part?
View 5 RepliesI own a 2004 LE with the I4. How to convert our dull camry automatic shifter to the cooler es300 gated shifter? I know it takes some re wiring, and the shift linkage might be differant because of the I4 to v6 difference. I have a couple es300 at my local junk yard with gated shifters. I think in other markets outside the U.S. you could get the ES in a four cylinder with the gates shifter.
View 14 RepliesMy recently installed Monroe Quick Struts are not dropping to the stock height, I thought I'd retrofit OEM springs.
I find that it's not easy to figure out what is the correct part. Various sites show differences in Japan vs US build, some show different parts for left and right and there's no particular consistency.
So, what are exact part numbers? This is a US built 2005 LE AT. The build date is 04/05.
