Yesterday the dreaded "car too low" warning appeared. I got out, saw the front end was low and could hear (i think) the sound of air hissing. had it towed to the dealer and am cursing myself for no extended warranty. Sure hope it's only one strut (tow driver said both front sides were low) and that vw will pick up the tab for non failing struts and the controller.
View 24 RepliesMy '04 with 47K on the clock just announced 'Level Workshop'. The warning does not come on right away and takes several minutes to re appear after the car has been turned off and restarted. The car is level, the ride height adjustment functions perfectly, the damping selection functions as before and the jacking control is working the way it is supposed to.
View 24 RepliesToday I had the joy of covering 200+ miles on my W12 today. While I was out and about there were 3-4 times I went around a right hand turn somewhat quickly and a "check please lights" warning appeared on the instrument cluster. At the end of the day I inspected the exterior lights with all working or so it seems. I found it odd that this only appeared during sharp turns to the right.
View 10 RepliesWhen I park my car and shift the selector into "P" the car will not allow me to remove the key until I jiggle the selector. I get a "please shift the selector into P"
After it's jiggled it unlocks, and I can then remove the key. I would prefer to fix it myself, rather than take it to the dealership.
I have an 05 V8 and was just on my way home from work driving on the expressway when suddenly my Phaeton completely and instantly died. It was running completely fine and then everything turned off and "system failure" was on the display. I coasted in neutral off the expressway and was able to come to a stop and place the gearshift in park but the key is completely unresponsive and I can't get the gear lever to move out of park. I'm guessing I'll need to get it towed to the dealer but I don't know how it can be towed in park. I have a VAG-COM so I can go up and run a scan but it it currently parked in a vacant lot and I need to get it moved quickly.
View 15 Replies2004 S60 Suddenly lost a lot of power while driving (non-highway) and the Reduced Engine Performance" warning appeared. Depressing the gas pedal gave it only minimal power and the engine would not shift. Even in park, depressing the gas pedal would not rev the engine. Turning the car off and on produced the same warning message.
After overnight inactivity, the car started fine, but the Engine Service Required warning light was on. The car was towed and inspected at a Volvo service facility.
The reduction in engine performance could not be duplicated. A computer upgrade was performed and the Service Engine light cleared. They could not find anything else and said if it happened again to bring it in.
I believe this is a safety issue, since losing power mid road can be dangerous on the highway.
A yellow key symbol appeared atop the speedometer. I searched the manual and found no reference to this. I assume this to mean the battery may be low in my key fob. Am I correct or does this mean something else?
View 12 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius with 240,000 miles. About 4 months ago the triangle warning symbol appeared. A friend and I decided to pull the big battery out of the car and find the bad cells. We did that, replace two and the car worked fine for 4 months. The triangle warning has returned. We have done several things but the triangle remains. We pulled the big battery out and checked all of the cells. We replaced one that was probably OK. The latest reading was 8 volts on cells all but one at 7.9. We cleaned all of the bus contacts. We went into the maintenance mode on the MFD and found the aux battery to be 12.6 volts and under load it dropped to 11.8 with the lights on.
The aux battery went up to 14.1 volts with the car on. The inverter cooling fluid has movement and there is a slight humming which I believe to be the inverter pump running. The inverter fluid was topped off. The MFD showed the battery bars start at about three fourths full, drop down to one bar. With the engine running the battery bars climbed to the top purple. The engine turned off and the bars continued to climb to all green. All of this occurred in about 3 minutes while the car was parked. There were codes on the MFD while in maintenance mode. I understand that these codes are for the navigation system and the audio system.
Car is a 2000 Passat Wagon 1.8T ATW FWD
I get the P1128 code and Emissions Workshop warning most of the year, then it cycles off in the summer. It went off yesterday, back on today, and I imagine it will go off again for weeks/months as the weather heats up.
Things I've tried so far:
Replaced MAF sensor
Replaced MAF wiring harness
Replaced front 02 sensor
Replaced air filter
Replaced cracked vacuum tubes, at least those accessible from the top. Some of the hidden lengths theoretically could be at issue but a mechanic said they were ok.
What I've not replaced is the secondary air pump. (Mechanic told me it's dry and checks okay.)
Warning light appeared, pressure adjusted to 32 psig on all four tires, but light will not go out, even after several miles of driving. Are the tire valve stem Caps special for this feature? I have lost one and replaced it with another type I had.
View 5 RepliesMy partner drove the Prius with 54,000 miles to work this morning as he always does. So he is on lunch and sent me a text saying some warning lights appeared on the dash while he was sitting at a red light. I asked if he had any loss of power, if the battery fan was running, he said it drove normally. We bought it last summer with 44,000 miles from a Toyota dealer. They said it had a new inverter pump. It has the original 12v battery however. Though it doesn't act weak at all. No issues this winter at all.
Note, the battery in the photo is at 1 bar. I asked him about it and he said he was driving aggressively to work today, which includes a 2 mile 6% climb he said he made at a high rate of speed... Though after the exit, he has another mile to work.. So the battery should have built itself up before him parking it.
I actually just bought a used 2004 Prius with 207,011 miles on it from out of state. I had a car shipped to me by a flatbed trailer. I just got the car the last weekend. However, It has a yellow engine light and a big red triangle with an exclamation mark (!) on a dashboard, and a red car with ! on top left of a display screen.
I drove it to a DMV to get it registered and took it to Pep Boys near my place since I have to get it an emission inspection within 10 days of registration anyways.
They ran a diagnostic test and found 2 current error codes (C2310-open/short in battery circuit & C2318-low voltage error) and 1 history code (P0A80-hybrid battery pack needs replaced), so they didn’t perform the inspection; otherwise, it would have a failed record). They told me that the car has had problems before and the problems are about a hybrid transaxle and a hybrid battery pack. They also told me that I need to visit a Toyota dealer to get them fixed in order to pass the inspection, and they warned me that is going to cost me a large four digit probably . So, they suggested me to just trade it in because it is not worth repairing. They also told me that a dealer who sold me the car probably would have done something to the car, that’s why it didn’t illuminate any warning lights before.
I tried to gather as much information as I could, so I asked the shipper if he noticed any warning lights but he didn’t think so; one thing he noticed was the hybrid battery isn’t charged because the engine started every time he moved the car.
I plan to take a car to another auto shop near my place as well in order to have them double check the issues and give me a repair estimate before taking a long trip to Toyota dealer.
Bunch of warning lights appeared and the dealer said it's code P0a80 and they recommend replacing the battery. I'd like to try to fix this myself and would like to hear your thoughts...
Plan is to check the traction battery for corrosion and use a voltmeter to test the cells and replace if needed. Prius 2004, 158,000.
I bought Toyota Camry 2013 LE and couple days ago Tire Pressure Warning Light appeared!!
I checked all tires and the pressure is 35 PSI but the warning light is still on, how to turn it of or reset it?
Just returned from dealer in rental car because my otherwise "perfect" car would not start after I came back from a shopping binge at my local Costco. Unlocked the car fine, put key in ignition, put foot on brake and cranked -Nothing. All lights are working on dash, windows operate, everything seems fine other than no start. Never experienced anything like it. No warning, no unusual activity. Dealer says it is either ignition switch or starter.
View 8 RepliesI'm getting an erroneous intermittent "Flat Tyre" warning on one of the 4 corners. Usually only happens after about 10-15 minutes of highway driving. I haven't had the problem on city driving. Pressure is good on the "faulty" corner. After resetting the tire pressures and the TPMS relearning, everything is then fine again . . . only to return the next time I'm on the highway.
View 14 RepliesCoolant overheat warning. Luckily, was moments from home so pulled in and stopped for about 6 hours. Checked coolant on level surface...looks ok. Started it up and drove around neighborhood. Car steadily climbs to 200 degrees F and then will sit there for around 5 minutes. As oil temperature breaks the halfway point, the coolant temp begins to steadily rise again until it hits just below to overheat mark for a couple minutes, then finally pushes through into the red.
Parked car overnight.
Drove to VW repair shop. Exact same results driving there. Temp increases from ignition to 200 degrees over a couple minutes then stops for 5+ minutes. Oil gets hot, coolant gets hot, I get very hot.Only 10 Months ago, I replaced the timing belt, water pump, and thermostat with genuine parts. I know what a pain in the arse it is to change these items so I did them all at once. I am sick thinking about having to do it yet again with these apes poking around my car.
Our Phaeton has a had a problem with the radar unit and was the electronics where repaired. According to the repair people it now has to we reactivated in the car but we are not managing to achieve this with VCDS. We have tried the following codes:

My '04 V8 had been sitting unused for about a week. As I backed out of my garage the airbag warning chime and symbol illuminated. I have gone through many start cycles and added about 200 miles since its onset but the warning persists. I have a drive by with my VW tech Monday for a code read.
View 16 RepliesFlickering low beam lights for several weeks and I decided to change both bulbs, pretty straight forward job, some 30 minutes for each side but when I went for a drive I noticed that ESP warning light on all the time, looked in the manual, tried to turn it on / off, no change. I can't believe there's a connection between changing the bulbs and ESP?

Yesterday when headed to lunch the warning symbol came on and it startled me as its a picture of an engine block. It was a solid symbol vs flashing. The Phaeton seems to be running well and the book does say get it in to be checked.
