All the interior white lights that come on when the doors are opened started pulsating today. It's a very rapid pulsing that's pretty rhythmic and constant not like what I would expect from a short. What might cause this?

I've tried everything I can think of or find to get them working but the interior lights won't come on automatically. They work if I turn them on manually, or once I'm in if I press the 'door open' button on the lights they will work when the doors are open.
But surely they should come on when the car is unlocked like every other car? It's getting quite annoying getting into a car in total darkness!
I have a 1995 Dodge Caravan le which is in perfect condition throughout. But recently the interior lights stopped working when the doors are opened and when the keyless entry thing is activated. The overhead lights do work when manually pressed but the dashboard switch that is supposed to turn them on when in the far right position doesn't do anything. If I hold the drivers door open and push in the activation button on the door jam, I can hear the relay clicking but nothing happens. My mechanic said he thinks it might be a bad computer part and will replace it but didn't really want to. I can't find a fuse for the interior lights so don?
View 5 RepliesPurchased a 2004 w12 several months ago , awesome cruiser.
The only fault it now has is the interior lights no longer come on when opening the drivers door and before putting the key in the ignition . I changed the comfort battery last month the old one being completely dead.
The dome interior lights will come on if the key IS in the ignition with door OPEN and go off when door is closed , the reading lights come on if you press the roof buttons but again only if ignition key in lock.
This is inconvenient as you cant find the ignition lock easily in the pitch dark. I searched the forum and one post was useful for resetting the interior light sequence ,but it didnt work when I tried it.
The procedure may have missed something out,as forum members know that the smallest step missed causes a problem.
Looking for the correct procedure to follow for the re sequencing of the interior lights. Trunk/boot light works as do puddle lights when door opened without key in ignition.
I have a 2012 F350 and the interior lights and cargo light do not turn on when I open my doors. The maps lights work if I manually turn them on. Why this happens and how to correct this issue?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2004 Santa Fe with 327,000+ miles on it (the speedometer doesn't work any longer - another problem).
Last July/Aug (2012) I had the driver window fixed (didn't go up or down) after it was fixed all the interior lights stopped working...dome light, map lights...they will not work automatically by opening a door nor manually. Even the rear hatch light will not turn on. Its not the fuse.
I have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
I recently purchased a 2011 Ford Edge with the My-Touch control system. I am planning on taking it to music festivals where I "camp" in and around my vehicle. Some of the lights go on every time a door or hatch is opened. As I am in and out of the vehicle day and night, is there a way to disable this feature?. I ask mostly because of lights bothering me and others, but am a little concerned about battery drain. It could be up to a week without starting or driving. I do turn the headlights off, but others (inside and out) come on.

Car is vf stage 2 supercharged....
View 22 RepliesIf I have the switch set for the lights to turn on when I open the doors, they don't turn off when the doors are shut they just stay on all of the time. Also, sometimes they don't work at all and sometimes they do. My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse..
View 2 RepliesI was getting something from the Santa Fe last night and noticed that the interior lights didn't come on when I opened the door. Further investigation found that they don't illuminate with any of the four doors (despite the door ajar light coming on in the dash), but the lights do come on when set to "ON", so the bulbs and fuse(s) are fine. The model year is 2001.

All of the lights work when the dimmer switch is flipped and when the individual switches are flipped on. The lights also turn on automatically when ignition is turned in the off position after running. Where should I begin to look to get this resolved?
View 8 RepliesI've got an '05 burb that for a couple weeks now the interior lights will not come on when you open any doors. Just tonight I went to start it and it took a couple tries and finally did, but I noticed that the clock had been reset almost like the battery had been drained.
I drove it to my destination and just let it run for about 30 min thinking it needed to charge (nothing had drained it that was obvious to me). I had to go back out and it did the same thing, started hesitantly and the clock had been reset.
Interior lights are sometimes staying on for 30 minutes after all doors have been closed. Thought it was the back hatch, but now seems to be random. I've cleaned the latches and lubricated with no luck. What else could be causing this?? A relay, computer.

I have a '00 Ford ranger and a '99 f-150 , when leaving the doors open , interior lights go off after 10-15 minutes in the ranger but not on my 150. Is there a relay or something aftermarket that makes this possible on the 150 ?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 Excursion V10 4WD Eddie Bauer edition. Within the past month I have noticed that the interior dome lights and running board lights don't always come on when I open the doors. The dimmer switch is set to the highest level without being turned on and all of the dashboard lights work. I turn the dimmer switch on and sometimes the interior lights work and sometimes they don't. The door switch seems to be in good shape as well. If I turn the dome lights on individually they work so I know that there is not a problem with the bulbs. Where I can look for the problem?
View 3 RepliesThe sun visor light on the passanger side isn't reacting anymore, when I open the mirror. First it all started that the lamp took some time before it reacted. Now it doesn't responde at all. There might be two possibilities what happend: The lamp itself broke or a wire from the sun visor to the roof has failed.How can I change the lamp by my self? Is it even possible? Are there any other reasons for it. Well, I suppose, I first need to remove the engine to get access to the lamp as it is with most of the parts in this car.
View 1 RepliesToday while the drivers door was open the interior lights started flickering and then all interior lights went off. Looked at the manual and do not see interior light fuse or relay. Also while looking at the manual, the lights flickered a few times and I could hear clicking behind the steering column. They lights never came back on. The interior "roller" switch is in the correct position, its also does not turn on the interior lights. I have also lubricated all the latches. What can I check or do to troubleshoot?

View 7 RepliesMy SO has a Hyundai Santa Fe - 03 2.4L with the 4 speed auto with 130500 miles.
While driving tonight, the interior lights started blinking. Which was kind of odd. Apparently when this happens, the tail lights (but not headlights) go out.
I did a quick bit of research on it and apparently there is a "bus" that goes bad and causes this. What is a "bus"? And how do I replace it? Is it something like a fuse that is getting corroded?
Also ... I think there may be something up with the a/c. When I turn on the A/C or defroster (any setting that activates the compressor), I smell a burning rubber smell in the dash. I'm not seeing the belt slip on the compressor and not hearing any slippage but there is a definite burning rubber smell. When the HVAC is on something that does not activate the AC Compressor (top vent) we do not get the smell.
Lastly, there are some transmission issues it seems. There is a shift flare between the 2-3 shift and the 3-OD shift sometimes is very firm/abrupt ... it appears to be locking the torque converter during a very hard shift.
