Phaeton :: AC Stays On Continuously, At About 68 Degrees

During my first year as a Phaeton owner, I had AC problems and tried to have it fixed. As usual, when you have the problem, it just seems to go away when you take your car into the dealer. It happens when I go on any extended trips, and have the AC on continuously, at about 68 degrees. There were four of us traveling yesterday and returning home today. The outside temp was 87 degrees, After driving for two hours, the cool air stopped coming out the vents. It was working real hard to provide a strong air sound that was harnessed only in the dash, and even when I lowered the temp it would not come out the vents.

I remember several years ago in an American Lincoln town car when we traveled from Florida to Georgia to avoid a hurricane, and it turned out we had no air when we got to GA. It was something called a blendor and I don't know if my Phaeton has any such monster.

I had the same problem in 2006 when I had to drive to NJ to bury a relative, and all through the funeral (in July when it was hot) I could not get any cool air to come out. The noise in the dash again seemed to tell me the air was blowing somewhere else, but I have no clue. Again took it to VW service, but could not recreate the problem. I also tried all the other positions as to where the air should come out (i.e., straight at your upper torso, down at your feet, etc.) but nothing worked.

Ford - Escape :: 2010 - Engine Light Stays On Continuously - Code P144A

I own a Ford escape 2010. the engine light stays on continuously. The car wont pass inspection (required in MA). I just took the car to an Auto service place and they came up with the code P144A. Ford dealership refuses to provide me with a interpretation of that code # unless I bring it in and they can do a diagnostic themselves.... What that particular code is in english. (It has to do with the engine).

Ford - Explorer :: 1996 - Airbag Light Is Flashing A 5 2 Pattern And Then Stays On Continuously

I pulled the wrong fuse, and now my air bag light is flashing a 5 2 pattern, and then stays on continuously.

it's a 96 OBD II - so I don't think I can do the "short the 2 pin gray connector" trick, or can I?

I pulled the right kick plate, and see the AIR BAG module, etc the fuel inheria switch mounted on the firewall, but no sign of that 2 prong plug....

so, how does one reset or clear this 52 code - I know that it was a result of me pulling that fuse, as the light was perfect before, and no issues.

I googled this topic, and still can't seemed to find this... will I need to take it to a dealer to have them flash the Air Bag Code?

Phaeton :: A/C Malfunction - No Air From Vents - Thermostat Went Up To 126 Degrees

I was driving for work in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs) today - it was 109 degrees. I hop in the car after a work visit, the vent covers open, but nothing comes out. The fan is blowing full blast - but no air was coming out of any vents. I tried manual mode, foot, defrost, off, etc. to no effect. I reset the climate system, reset all, no dice. Soon, the fan turned off, paused a couple seconds, then turned back on again and tried again to the safe effect. I turned off the ignition and turned it back on. Nothing. Drove to my next stop and parked. I came out, started up again - this time air comes out of the vents, but it's hot.

I took the car to the nearest VW dealer, and the foreman came out with his diagnostic tool (the big one - not the VAG-COM) and told me their were 23 faults with the air conditioning system.

One other interesting thing - my thermometer was going nuts at the same time. It was 109, but the thermometer quickly went up to 126 degrees within a few minutes - the engine temperature went up or got hot.

The good (?) news is I don't think this would have been covered under warranty, because their aren't any broken parts - just needs a recharge...at least that's what it looks like now.

The early diagnosis is that I need an A/C recharge, and if the refrigerant gets even a little low, the entire system shuts off.

Phaeton :: 2004 V8 Is Overheating - Engine Running At 200 Degrees

I recently got a coolant flush done at the local vw dealer. The engine now runs hot at 200 degrees whereas it was just 160 degrees before. Is this normal for hot weather. Not sure if this is a mistake on the part of the dealer or something conked out opportunistically. A vag com scan shows everything normal. The car has 75 k miles and no other major issues.

Phaeton :: Oil And Coolant Temperature Staying At A Consistent 200 Degrees

I seem to recall my 4.2l oil and coolant temperature staying at a consistent 200 degrees, but now my oil temp seems to hover at or slightly above 180 while coolant remains at 200.

A 5 mile high speed uphill run brought the oil temp to about 190 degrees, but it soon settled to 180 once I slowed to 80mph.

So ambient temp is about 15 degrees Fahrenheit; however, that really shouldn't make a difference with a water cooled/thermostat engine, correct?

My main concern is that lower oil operating temperatures wont allow condensation to boil off.

Phaeton :: Red Alarm LED Stays On For About Two Minutes When Lock The Vehicle

I took my car to our local Phaeton Service Center yesterday (the bottom plate needed to be cleaned so it could pass the obligatory annual technical evaluation). I had the technician perform a few software adjustments (no seatbelt warning, activation of comfort window opening via the remote control, automatic locking and unlocking of the doors) and now when I lock the vehicle the red alarm LED's on the inside of the front doors start to blink for a few seconds, and then stay on (solid red) for about two minutes. After that they start to blink slowly again.

Before yesterday, when I locked the car, the LED's would blink a bit faster for about ten seconds, and would then resume their slow blinking. Is this normal behavior or did something go wrong?

Phaeton :: Instrument Panel Air Vent Cover Stays Open / Does Not Close

Just got took delivery on a 05 Phaeton. After reading thru most of the newbie FAQ section and getting all the setting done on the vehicle, I turned off the ignition and the center vent wouldn't come down.

Instrument Panel air vent cover (decor panel) stays open, does not close when it should...

I tried getting it open and close a couple of times via the climate control with no luck. I tried starting and stopping the engine, the locking and unlocking from the outside.

Prius (2004-09) :: ICE Starts And Stops Continuously

I stopped at a light yesterday and the day before and the ICE will turn off, then turn on for a second or two, then off, then on for a second or two, etc. it did this for probably 15 seconds until I let my foot off the brake and coasted forward a few feet then stopped again. 2011 chevy malibu. 3 days ago on my way to work my car would hit about 2500 rpms and drop then go back 2500 and drop continously. I stopped turned it off and it ran fine. now I've noticed when taking off from a stop it's a jerking/quick (only once not multiple times) kind of go.
