For some time now, probably the past 3-years my 05 V8 has made this clunk/jolt when stopping the car on level surface. It very faint, but noticeable. When the car is in S, it doesn't happen. When stopping on a hill, it doesn't happen.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2005 VW Phaeton V6 TDI, with a couple of problems.
Oil temp and Fuel level gauges are not working. Range remaining displayed as "---". Ride height button activates a screen in the infotainment and shows that vehicle is in normal height ride but it won't let me change it to high. Dampening button doesn't activate anything at all. However the button itself works, I've tested it using measuring blocks.Volume and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel don't work although they are illuminated. Buttons that control the MFD work absolutely fine.
I've noticed that my vcds cable cannot connect to the following controllers and they are missing from the autoscan:
Address 07: Control Head
Address 09: Cent. Elect.
Address 17: Instruments
Address 19: CAN Gateway
Address 37: Navigation
Address 47: Sound System
Maybe they all have something in common ? I have no problems connecting to other vehicles or other controllers in this car. Previous owner fitted an instrument cluster from a 2011 VW Phaeton, but it seems to work fine except for the problems stated above.
Have a 2006 GS300. Started having a clunk and jolt during slowdowns. Dealer says it appears to be the shift solenoid. Have 160 K+ miles.
View 12 RepliesI know brake squealing indicates worn brakes and time to check/replace. But I notice on my 2009 Hyundai Accent, the squeal only happens going downhill (maybe uphill too, but one usually doesn't brake much there), and on non-level surfaces at times. But for most day to day driving it's level enough to not hear any squeals.
My question is what might this indicate with regards to the brakes or other components? Is it a special type of wear or uneven wear of the brakes? Since even wear would have the brakes squealing all the time I'd assume.
I'm going to have it inspected, but wanted to get some thoughts here beforehand.
I am the new owner of a 2007 Lexus GS350 and I absolutely love the car. 70k miles and it has been well taken care of by the previous two owners. The question I have is regarding a strange subtle jerk when coming to a stop. This seems to be the most intense with a medium force stop but I can also feel it when coasting to a stop. It happens frequently and sometimes is less harsh than other times. I noticed it right after picking up the vehicle but I didn't really pay much attention. After driving the car for 2 months I notice it more. The jerk seems to be happening during downshifting and is at about 15 mph every time. It's not extreme but passengers typically notice it if I point it out. Then they can feel it every time it happens. The other shifts are smooth including accelerating and so forth. I reset the ECU (pulled the ETC and EFI2 Fuses) about two weeks ago but haven't noticed a difference in shifting.
View 14 RepliesI already changed the two front struts but the clunk its still there when i hit a bump or irregular surface, the dealer told me that I have replace the two front strut mounts too (I have a 2007 Camry SE V6 w 112 miles on it), that can solve my problems?
View 4 RepliesI only notice this when I back the car from the garage and come to a stop before going forward. It is a very metallic clunk. It sounds like its coming from the rear passenger side but I am. not 100% certain. It happens when I actually stop before switching to drive.
It is a 2013 Two. 30,000 miles on it.

View 2 RepliesWhenever I take off from a stop or slow to a stop, there's a clunk in the drivetrain. It feels like a bit of play before the drivetrain engages and when it releases...torque converter maybe? Taking to the tranny shop soon...
View 10 RepliesI had heard clunking when hard accelerating or hard stopping my 2003 Explorer, also heard it from Park to Reverse/Drive. I suspected u-joints, was correct, those were replaced.
After I received my car back I noticed the clunk was louder when hard accelerating or hard stopping; again from Park to Reverse/Drive. I suspected rear differential. I called my mechanic who said they noticed some play in the rear end - a little loose, that the noise would be noticeable...but that if it were him he wouldn't worry about it. He said the drive shaft was tight, that I wasn't in danger of it falling out, etc.
These are the only symptoms I have that something is wrong with the SUV. Just that clunk. If I come off slow from a stop and not hit the gas, there is no clunk. If I do not hard stop, again I can avoid the clunk. The vehicle does not vibrate or make noise on the freeway, shifts well between gears.
I was going to have my mechanic open the rear end up and see what needed to be replaced when the cold weather brakes. In the meantime, is there anything I need to be keeping an eye on, or something else I should check? My mechanic said the checked it over and couldn't find any other problems. I just want to be prepared for expenses.
It's a 2W, not 4WD. I had all the fluids done, a drain and refill on rear. Not sure if that's important to know or not.
I just purchased this car & thought there may be a learning curve to dealing with the brakes, but I think it may be abnormal.
When braking, I apply more & more pressure smoothly down on the brakes, but no matter how evenly, slowly, and smoothly I try to remain when braking, there is a point when it abruptly brakes to jolt the passengers forward and make me look like a terrible driver, lol. It provides for a smooth decline in speed until I'm almost stopped, then it does it. Jerks us to a stop. So I've learned to apply even pressure and right before that is about to occur, lift up on the brakes and restart that slow pressure to avoid it happening.
I can deal with this because it's not that big of an inconvenience once I've gotten used to it, but I am just worried it may turn into something more or who knows, could be an easy fix. I had the car inspected by a Toyota dealership before I purchased it, and they said that everything was in great condition aside from windshield wipers. It has 81,000 miles, one owner, clean carfax.
I have an 08 F-250 CC SB 4x4 Diesel truck that has since new clunked when starting out from a stop and/or coming to a stop. I have 16k on it now and am getting really tired of dealing with it... The clunk starting is when I let off the brake and just apply the throttle. It feels like something slips and then clunk.
The clunk when stopping is the same as starting, except when coming to a stop.This is unloaded or when loaded w/ cargo and/or trailers. I know I can go to the dealer, but I don't want to un-spartan my truck for this...
I have a 2008 toyora prius with 75423mi on it, was purchased with 70000mi two or three months ago. I have had no problems with this vehicle until recently. Being a prius newbie, I decided to ask here. When sitting parked on a slight slope earlier with the car running, radio running, and phone plugged in for an extended amount of time, I received an error on my display stating smething along the lines of "there is an abnormality with the p transmission mechanism, please part the car on a flat surface and engage the parking break completely" paired with a red triangle on the dash. I immediately moved the car to flat ground and engaged the parking break. The car turns one, shifts fine, and acts just as normal as prior. Is there anything I should be worried about? The car is still under toyota warrenty and is due an oil change now. Any clue what the cause of this was and if it will be reoccuring?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 F-250 4x4 and recently i noticed a grinding noise while driving and then when I come to a stop I hear a clunk and the grinding stops. It sounded like it came from the driver side wheel so I changed the wheel bearing assembly. About 3 days later it started again. Now it sounds like it's coming from both sides. I am at a loss. The hubs are unlocked. It's hard to describe the sound but to me it sounds like 2 gears with a large chain rotating on them. I hope that made sense. The clunk can be felt in the brake pedal.
View 2 RepliesI haven't been able to find a discussion about failure or replacement of the oil level sensor. I'm getting a error message displayed each time I start the car. I took it into the dealer for an oil change. After they completed the change, they recommended replacing the sensor. I'm inclined to wait another 5k for the next service to do that. Diagnostics did not show any error codes. Doesn't make sense to me. just replace the sensor...

The warning does not come on right away and takes several minutes to re appear after the car has been turned off and restarted. The car is level, the ride height adjustment functions perfectly, the damping selection functions as before and the jacking control is working the way it is supposed to.

Those VW tech don't want to touch it unless there is something wrong. Hard to believe. Changing ATF fluid and filter as preventive maintenance?
I have 2004 V8 Phaeton ,the message LEVEL FAULT WORKSHOP. keeps appearing ,then disappearing, sometimes it will stay until the car is turned off,. When it comes some times even on long highway journeys I wont see it at all!. When it comes on nothing seems to change.
