Phaeton :: 2004 - Climate System Adjusts To Send Air Down To Foot Wells When Parked
Jan 17, 2016
When I park, the climate system adjusts to send air down to the foot wells. The climate system keeps the air running long enough to drain the left side battery. I replaced both batteries two days ago. This morning my, brand new, left battery was dead again. The first two weeks I owned the car I never noticed the climate staying on, only the last 6 days.

My 2004-V8 has developed some creaking sound that seems to come from both front wheel wells when going at low speeds. Going over bumps does not produce them but hard braking and corners tend to produce them. My suspicions are either brakes or steering. Had all the suspension bushings done about a year ago and the dealer did not tell me about worn steering parts. Steering tracks well and suspension is taught. Vagcom shows nothing as this most likely is completely mechanical or even structural.

Had my car for almost 2 years and barely used navigation system for directions because of how painful it is to enter a destination. Since I'm in Canada we don't get enform... any other way to send a destination to the car?

I just upgraded my 2010 Camry XLE to the 2015 XLE Hybrid this weekend. Couple of issues... How to get the voice activated system to SEND text messages? I can receive and view them through the car display, but can't get them to respond. I get through all the prompts and then upon sending it stops and says it's not supported.
Second, what I need to get for my iPhone 6 Plus in order to use the built in Qi wireless charger that came with my car? Also, where can I get whatever it is I need to attach to my phone?

I just have a quick question.. I have a 2004 v8, and every time I start my car the climate control comes on, I tried to put in auto and manual. How do you turn it off, so it will only come on when you want it to...not during every start up?

I've got a 2004 Silverado 2500, crewcab, longbed with a 8100cc gas engine. The truck has 80,000 miles and is in great condition. There's just one little problem - the climate cntrol system will occassionally go to completely hot. When it started a couple years ago, it was weeks between occurences. Now it's about every day and can be multiple times a day. When the system goes to hot, the only way to get back to the proper setting is to turn off the ignition and then restart.
It was happening on both the driver and passenger sides, but the first attempt to repair this issue was to change the envirenmental control computer - now the heat only happens on the driver side. The passenger side remains as set.

I just bought 2011 Prius III on black Friday and still not familiar with auto climate. Everytime I press it on, the air flow will set to blow in foot mode so I press mode button to change it back blowing the air from the front. By doing that the auto climate control light is turn off. Can I use auto climate with air flow from the front vent instead of blow down to the foot?

Yesterday there was a huge rain. Our 2009 Prius couldn't park under the carport (on slab) as we would have had to drive a ways through really soft water-logged ground in front of it. So the wife left it parked on our circle drive driveway, which stays harder than the ground elsewhere, as there is still some caliche left on it. So an inch or so of mud was on all the tires and even more mud on wheel wells. We are on a slope, so I am sure that water never got up to the underside of the car.
Today I go to drive it---fortunately it was not stuck---but have the sonalert tone going off, the red brake warning light on, the ABS light on, and the VSC light on! I was hoping it was just an accumulation of mud blocking a wheel sensor, so I took it to the car wash and washed the inside (primarily) and outside of the wheels off. Then realized that mud is non-ferrous,so it shouldn't block a wheel sensor signal anyway.
I do have an OBDII code reader.....might it be able to read brake system trouble codes on Prius? This surely is induced by mud or moisture.....what would it likely be? It has always been perfect as far as brakes until yesterday, when it got a huge amt. of mud on tires. Could maybe water accumulate in one of the sensor harnesses, effectively shorting it out?

I have a 2004 VW Phaeton.
Today, the sound system failed, then shortly after, the navigation system failed.
On the console, if I press any map/navigation buttons, the error message "Navigation System Unavailable" is displayed.
If I press an audio related button, the error message "DSP system is unavailable". I took it to a private vw repair shop and a vw dealer. What was causing the issue.
I am now headed to a vw dealer with certified phaeton tech. I looked towards fuse issue, but they appear to be ok..

My wife's 04 GX deflates sometimes when we park it, you can clearly hear a loud "whooshing" noise occasionally when we park it in our garage. The rear then goes to the lowest possible setting, it looks odd laying that low. Because it's not my car, I don't know if it always did that, but it seems "new" to me.
The deflation sound is coming from the rear mounted compressor on the rear driver side, I went under the car to investigate. It also appears that the air bags themselves aren't leaking, I raised the car to the highest setting, and it stayed there without the compressor kicking on or any leaking noise.
My guess is maybe the sensors need to be replaced, the thing is, I don't want to "shotgun" parts at a problem and spend $500 or so dollars on new sensors to experiment. How do I know the rear is behaving correctly?

I recently purchased a 2004 v8 phaeton. The tire pressure system light was on when I purchased the vechicle and the dealer reset it and told me it was learning. The day after I purchsed I drove it from Florida to Maine where I live and the light continued to come on upon every start. Once back in Maine I took it to my local dealer and they replaced the system. Now, a few weeks later it comes back on intermittedly. Might it have something to do with bad roads?

I have driven a Phaeton in Germany and have a 2004 touareg V8 with full nav and premium radio etc. The basic dash layout is very similar and the nav seems to be identical. Is if possible that whatever phone system is supplied with the Phaeton will work on the Touareg???

I went in for an oil change and told them to visually inspect the car for a water leak. There was another phaeton in the shop with a water problem that was costing the customer thousands so I thought they might be able to see a red flag. I get the car back and they told me they blew air through the sunroof vents.
I've had the passenger foot well carpet up to monitor the floor to see if water has been leaking since I sealed around a couple batter terminal points that went through the firewall, and it had been dry.
But I had a feeling blowing that air through the vents might have dislodged the hose from the connector, so I put some water through the sunroof vent, and it totally started pouring into the footwell. It had NEVER done that when pouring water through the sunroof vent when I was diagnosing it before.
I feel like the dealer made the problem worse by blowing air down there, and now the dash is probably going to have to come out, and i'm assuming they will make me pay for it.

I've recently purchased a MY2004 V10 TDI (one previous owner) and I'm very happy with it. When I press the VEHICLE button below the center console screen, a message appears stating 'Tire pressure monitoring system not available'.
I really hate having buttons that don't 'do' anything, so I'd like to know if the TPMS is simply an option my car doesn't have or if it is equipped with the system but the sensors are malfunctioning. I've tried pressing the button at different times (cold start, after driving etc.) but it always says the same thing.
If my car doesn't have this system, is it possible to retrofit it and would that be expensive?

have an 04 f150 that is starting to show some rust in the rear wheel wells. Right now there is just a bit of rust where the painted panel is seamed to the inner panel around the arch, but I can see small spots where the paint is starting to bubble about an inch out on the outside of the panel. I want to keep this thing looking nice for a few more years; what should I do?
I'm a very good welder, can hold my own when turning wrenches, have done lots of metal fabrication as well as painting with a cup gun, but I have very little autobody experience.
I am thinking there is rust between the inner and outer panels and that removing the surface rust and repainting would be a very temporary repair, correct? Could I cover it up with some sort of wheel well liner? If so, how to I slow the existing rust? Is there any sort of partial preformed steel panel/well that allow you to cut off the rusty stuff and weld new stuff on? I'm a little leary of the last thought- I could do the fabbing, but not sure how I'd do getting it back to 'smooth'

I had my first potential problem happen yesterday. I parked my car in a parking lot and my sunroof wouldn't close. I think that the pinch protection was the culprit because it started to close and would open when there was about a 3 inch gap. It never closed but when I drove away and tried it again in motion it closed.
