Notices such a noise from the rear passenger side door (same side as the fuel cap. Also experienced this same window 'malfunction'. Lowered it partially and then auto-rolled it up. Instead of auto-rolling up to a close, it rolled all the way up and then all the way down where is stopped.
View 4 RepliesI am almost 100% I have found the source of the rear wind intrusion that some of us are hearing. From day one, I have had a wind hissing noise from the rear door windows. After taking it to the dealer and them saying it was "normal", I have been on a mission to find the source of the noise. Well it is coming from a location that I never thought it would come from.
After trial and error, I found it is coming in around that shinny black triangle part in the rear door. There is a gap between the rubber and that plastic shinny triangle part. I used shinny black pinstripe that I got from an auto parts store to cover the gap. I test drove several times at speeds above 65mph and did not hear the noise. Unless you were looking close, you'd never know the pinstripe was there.
So we are taking a short trip and my dad decides he would like to drive my new passat. That means I get kicked to the back seat as my wife will not give up her heated seat. We are on the highway now and I noticed for the first time some very annoying wind noise coming from the rear headliner between the door and the small window. It almost sounds as if the widow is opened a crack but I checked.
View 5 RepliesI have intermittent excessive wind noise from the top of my passenger door. The dealer claims they can't hear it, so I will take matters into my own hands. The driver's door was not aligned correctly when I bought the car but the dealer adjusted it correctly, so I am wondering if the passenger door could just be too far outward. Other than adjusting the door striker inward are there any other adjustments or is there a common issue that could cause the wind noise?
View 24 RepliesMy buddy just picked up a 2007 passat 2.0t. Upon bringing it home and locking it we noticed the horn didn't beep indicating an active alarm. I discovered the rear passenger door wasn't locking, and when opening it, even though the alarm was activated, the alarm didn't go off. The door unlock/lock switch as well as the window switch both aren't working. Can't open the window from the driver's door switch either.
I'm guessing it's probably something to do with the power to the door since it's completely unresponsive. Where would we be able to check if power is going to the door? Also, since the alarm doesn't go off when opened is there a sensor somewhere that says when the door is open and or locked?
Since I had my '02 I've had the child safety lock on the passenger side rear door on (active). I went to disable it (you know, stick the ignition key in and turn it 90 degrees to the side without the child's picture) and I'm still unable to open the door from the inside.
Everything else with the door works fine. The power locks work. Even pulling the handle twice pushes the lock button to the up position. And opening the door from the outside works as it's supposed to. The only thing I cannot do is open the door from the inside. Have I missed anything?
Just recently in the last month (owned the car since aug 07) I have noticed large amounts of wind noise around the driver side door. At first I thought it was on just windy days, then it started to get worse every day. I'm taking it in to vw to check the seals around the door, but I'm not real certain this is the issue since after visibly inspecting the car the seals look pretty solid
View 12 Replies04 Camry. There is a lot of wind noise coming from the upper left side of the driver door, same with the passenger but not SO much. I've seen that cleaning the rubber with silicone lube and doing a window frame bend should do the trick, but my dad noticed that when the door on the driver side is close, there is a slight big gap between where the door is and the frame of the car. Upon comparing it to another 05 camry, the gap is smaller. Would that be the reason why i have been getting a lot of wind noise? Or should i try the window bend and silicone lube first?
View 2 RepliesToday I visited my Dealer to check out the wind noise that we are hearing - driver and passenger. They did agree after a road test that there is a wind noise. They also took out another GS 350 and noticed the same. They called CA to check if others reported this problem and the answer was no. The Service Consultant indicated this will be entered to review in more detail. While waiting, I looked at cars in the showroom. The triangle filler at the front of the windows on the GS 460 and ES models had a horizontal ridge molded in this filler piece. Not sure for the reason - wind noise reduction?
Also, wanted the oil changed at 3K miles and the Consultant indicated it was not necessary. Stated that oil change is not needed until 10K miles due to now using synthetic oil. I do not agree with this. Will have oil changed in the next week to remove any fines that may be in the oil of the new engine.
Requested changes to the number of lane change turn signal blinks and lowering windows when depressing FOB unlock. The latter was no problem due to using a laptop interface. However, the signal change is using a combination of turn signal and wiper levers. I have a copy of the instructions and never have seen anything so complex. I don't understand why these changes cannot be make by the owner similar to some of the other features.
I have a strange "wind noise" at 70+ mph -- only coming from the passenger side -- definitely the mirror area. I think the door seals are OK and the problem is the painted mirror cover making a sound (resonating/vibrating) when the wind hits it at high speed (I was tapping on it with my fingers and I could see where this might happen). So I went and got some Dynamat type stuff to put on the inside. But I cannot figure out how to get the cover off.
I saw a couple posts on people installing the turn signal indicators, with pictures of the mirrors half torn apart, but none of the posts mentioned how they got the painted cover off. I tried to pry it off by jamming my fingernails in a crack and getting a hold, but that's not working.
For the past year I would occasionally hear a wind noise from the backseat on the passenger's side. It seemed to coincide with acceleration so I figured that a seal had come loose. I took it by the dealership but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. A few days later, I heard the same noise but for the first time ever, it actually got louder when I was stopping so I figured out that it wasn't a seal.
I was lucky enough for the issue to keep going even when I parked so I found out that it was air being forced out from the A/C system(from vent near the seat cushion). What would cause this? I almost might think something wasn't grounded properly. I had another weird issue like this(not air but intermittent) on my old Jeep and it ended up being a grounding issue.
It makes me a wind noise in the driver's door from 120km or 75 miles an hour...

View 5 RepliesI get a little bit of wind noise from the drivers door. Upon inspection, I noticed that the drivers door sticks out a little bit more than the passenger door when it is closed. In other words, the passenger door window from is flush with the adjacent trim but the drivers window from is maybe 1.5 mm out. I suspect this may be just enough to cause the slight wind noise.

It has probably been there for a while, but my previous tires were so damn noisy I couldn't hear it. Replaced tires a few weeks ago (much quieter tires!) and now I notice it again. The door doesn't leak water. Maybe it's normal.

View 14 RepliesI have about 5,000 on my 2.5 SEL. Back passenger window seems to make that annoying wind/whistle noise if I get above 20 mph. Even on non windy days it seems loud. I will have them look into it at my 10,000 mile check up.

I had a repair done a few weeks back and had a loaner 2014 TDI SE, and it had the exact same sound.
I've owned a 2012 Prius Two for less than a month now, and today while driving home I noticed what sounds like road/wind noise coming from the rear passenger side area. Googling about this revealed information about the battery fan. However, I'm unsure if what I'm hearing is the battery fan or road/wind noise that I just haven't heard before.
Here's information regarding the conditions I was driving in:
- 84 degrees outside temperature
- car had been sitting in an open-air parking lot for about 2 hours
- no tint, no windows cracked for hot air release
- upon returning to the car I turned on the AC to 68, set at mid range speed
- was driving on the interstate doing some stop-and-go, but mostly 50-plus MPH
- windows rolled up completely, no doors ajar
- it sounded like air rushing by
- could not hear anything coming from the left rear side, but my left ear is partially blocked by the headrest, so...
- sound would decrease in volume if car slowed down
- sound would increase in volume as car got faster, but would eventually level out it seemed
- sound would completely go away at speeds below 20ish mph
- sound would not change based on level of AC, whether on, low, high or off
- checked battery vent for obstructions/debris, saw nothing, and was cool to the touch
- car has about 28k miles on it, replaced rear tires yesterday but all bolts, caps, etc. are securely in place
Seems like there is a constant wind noise coming from the driver's side door on my 4-door GTI. Best way I can describe it is as if the window is cracked a tiny bit, but not that loud. Seems the car isn't totally quiet over 30mph. The door seals and everything look fine.
