I would like to be able to charge my phone even when the ignition is turned off. My last car has two power ports, one was switched with the ignition and the other one was always live. It seems in my '14 SE that both ports are switched with the ignition.. I'm actually considering adding a live port to the inside of the glove box.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2010, Prius III. Whenever I plug my blackberry storm into the usb slot, my phone says "there is not sufficient power to charge the phone". I've tried charging with the Storm 1 and Storm 2 but neither seem to work. I have plugged in my ipod and it seems to charge just fine. Is it just the phone that won't allow it to charge or is it the fact that it's a micro usb that the car may not be able to handle? Or maybe the usb port is faulty.
View 1 RepliesI let my wife drive the car for the past few weeks. This weekend I took it for a 2 hour drive, and I couldn't get my bluetooth to sync with my phone. There is no longer anything related to bluetooth on the display, so I can't even scroll through options to try to sync. The voice command button does not work either, when pushed it does nothing. My car has almost 50k miles so this will not be covered if I take it back to the dealership, so if possible I would like to fix this myself.

My Samsung phone is connected to car via Bluetooth. It seems to work fine. However my phone restarts when I start and turn the car off.
I have the SEL Premium: My wife drove the car several days ago and may have changed some settings and now the phone doesn't even pop up in the informational display. I've done my homework in the manual but can't seem to find the solution. the closest thing I can figure out from the manual is the phone package was turned off? i didn't even know that was possible. of course it says to put the key in the ignition to turn it on or off which as you know you can't do.
View 6 RepliesI have recently leased a 2014 VW Wolfsburg Edition Passat. It has the carnet feature on it. I am currently experiencing that my phone is not playing through my Bluetooth setting. I will listen to either spotify, or Pandora. When listening to the streaming music the car will play one song and when it goes into the next song it stops playing all together through the Bluetooth, however it is still playing on the phone. I took it in to the dealership where I got it to service this issue and was given a loaner car. I could play the Bluetooth in the 2013 passat with no issues....but get in my car and it will wither play one or nothing at all! They are saying that there is something in my phone causing this issue. For it to work in my old car no problem, which was a 2011 Jetta, and the 2013 with no problems. So I have a hard time seeing it has to do with my phone. So ok n my phone I did a factory reset....and went back out to the car...and it is still just playing one song and then stopping.
View 1 RepliesJust bought a Certified 2012 2.5 SE about a week and a half ago but I have a question. I've connected my iPhone through the system just fine, but the system automatically added it as a bluetooth media device as well.
The problem is, It automatically starts trying to play music no matter what I'm listening to (usually SiriusXM)... In order to save battery, this pretty much forces me to either;
1) remove the phone from my pocket and turn off the player each time I get in or connect it to the charger cord.
2) Go through the menu and disable to media portion on the MFI.
Trouble is, either method seems to be a temporary turn-off.
My question is this... Is there any way to permanently disable JUST the media portion of the bluetooth connection without disabling the phone part?
I have a 2014 Passat S 2.5 that I drove for a few months before I bought a Tahoe and my wife now drives the Passat. While I had it, it was paired to my phone. However, now that she drives it, every morning when she starts it, my phone buzzes because it's trying to make a connection. I read the manual back and forth, and I found out how to remove it, but unfortunately the MFD display in the middle of the instrument cluster isn't showing any phone info like the manual suggests. I also only have one set of steering wheel buttons, not both. So with this limitation, how in the world do I remove my phone from the stereo pairing?

View 4 RepliesThe programmed code inside the smart key could be changed or erased if it is too close to your cell phone(same pocket). As a result u can't start your car any more.
I understand that Nissan has some these cases reported on its smart key(07 G35?) and it issue the statements that the key need to be at least "one inch away" from your cell.
I have a 2008 Passat B6 2.0 TDi with a factory fitted phone provision. My mobile phone is recognised by the car - phone book etc. I can make a call and the screen on the radio shows "PHONE" but I can't hear any sound. When a call comes in there is no sound either and I can't communicate with the caller.

View 4 RepliesI recently tried to replace my heater blower resistor, whilst looking for this under the glovebox I disconnected the ECM (convenience system electronic control module) with the ignition switched on.
I quickly realized that the heater blower resistor was not located within the ECM box, but when I reconnected it the following warning lights appeared on the dash:-
1. Electro-mechanical steering assistance light. Amber color lit continuously.
2. Fault in the parking brake system. Amber color flashing.
The steering is not as it was, it will not return automatically after cornering. The parking brake works fine.
I've bought a Haynes manual and section that covers the replacement of the ECM states, "ensure the ignition is switched off". Unfortunately this eludes to the fact that I have damaged something, but does not diagnose the problem.
My thoughts are that I have blown a fuse or the ECM by disconnecting and reconnecting it with the ignition on. The ECM units are expensive, and I do not want to replace it if the problem is a simple blown fuse.
My friend has a 2007 Passat 2.0 T Wagen. He went to start it up this morning with no problems, but the car shut off after a few seconds and it said mobilization activated. The key won't come out of the ignition.
View 6 RepliesWhen I start the ignition, the horn goes off for about 1 or 2 seconds. While engine is on the horn is not operational (I press and nothing).

Sometimes when I take the key out of the ignition, the wipers move up slightly. I notice the passenger's blade most as it parks a bit higher than the driver's blade, so when they move up the right one is more obvious. They don't move a full cycle, just up about an inch and stop.

View 6 RepliesToday I ran into a problem while i was changing my spark plugs ...two of the plugs were completely covered in oil. I mean oil was literally dripping off those plugs. I have a Passat 1999 2.8L V6. What could be wrong.
View 3 Replieswell for a few days the car woudln't start every 10 times or so , i'd turn it back and forth a few times and it would kick over , then tonight wife took it and it just wouldn't start so i went and picked her up and tried it about a 100 times and called a tow truck
so what does everyone think it is, everything else is normal but the no crank. ignition switch maybe? I'm going to try and pop the clutch after it gets here, i didn't have the room or distance to try it where it was
2002 vw Passat GLX 4motion... Car has been driving fine with no issues. Then out of the blue it just won't start back up. Battery is 6 months old. And wouldn't start with a jump. I think it is a completely different issue. The power windows stopped working but other features do work like stereo power seats interior lights...Main problem is no lights on dash whatsoever. But when key turns from accessories position to starting position nothing happens. No clicking, no resistance between positions it is as if the ignition is just missing..?
View 2 RepliesSo I noticed the other night that one of my LED's on my headlamp flickered while they were on, with the key in ignition. As of today, the driver's side LED light went out. Where to to tap into to make an attempt to figure this out. Wires and connector seem to be all in tact.
