My new Passat SE seems to have a band of convex (concave?) glass about halfway up the the rear window, such that when I look in the rearview, cars behind me look like they're in one of those fun house mirrors that stretches them to look taller. I'm fairly certain this is in the window and not the mirror.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2013 KR F150 SC 4x4 and have owned it since new. This big snow/ice storm that just came thru NC is probably the first time I have tried to use the rear window and mirror defrost . It does not work nor will the light come on the sync display. i pressed the button on the hvac as well as on the sync. My son says there is a TSB on this. I have 40,000 miles and the warranty is out. Also, its too cold to check the fuse today.
View 9 RepliesIts strange but since the other day the rear right window comes down sporadically when I push the window button on the driver console. When it does come down I am able to get it back up but when it closes all the way thats when it doesn't want to come back down. There is a tree sap problem where I live that gets all over the car. I'm wondering if the sap particles are having an effect on the ability to lower the window. When the window is stuck all the way up I can hear the motor in the door.

View 7 RepliesGetting the metal mirror base off the rest of the assembly? My mirror fell off the windshield, probably due to a poor glue job a few years ago when the windsheild was replaced. Now for the life of me, I can't get the black metal base off the rest of the mirror to glue it back on. It looks like there are a couple of small holes for a pin spanner, but I've tried that and nothing budges.
View 6 Replies'01 B5 V6 GLX wagon... Inside rear view mirror with auto-dim feature suddenly lost it's auto-dimming ness. Instead, the fluid that does the dimming kinda pools around in a random bubble-cloud within the glass and in various places within the mirror. It's distracting as heck.
View 6 RepliesI have an issue with my rear view. It seems like the tint is fading out in certain parts of it, its like the nighttime sensor is broken or something . I took it to the dealership to get a quote and they it would cost about $500 for a new rear view mirror. I was curios if there is a cheaper way to fix or if i could fix it myself.

View 2 RepliesCheck this out, I was driving on a road trip yesterday 300 mile round tripper and just one time the rear passenger window went down on its own. Freaked me out for a second and then had me worrying it would do it again but never did, just a glitch or ghost in the machine I guess but I didn't like it.
View 3 RepliesThe window actuator/motor is running and going up and down but the window isn't. I am thinking the clip/hardware that attaches the window to the track has broken. My issue is getting to it. Ive had the door panel off but cant figure out getting to the area.

View 3 RepliesI rolled up my left rear window a week ago and got a serious pop and crunch from it. I now have taken the time to take it apart and found that the cable has snapped and the carriage is in pieces. I'm not going to bother replacing any of it. To the point.. the motor has a crap load of wires going to it. I would like to get rid of it all together, brace up the rear window(s) and never look back. Is there any reason why I could not just unplug and remove the motor and its control or is there something else running form or through it too?
View 3 RepliesMy 1999 Passat has the common "power window goes up, but won't go down" problem in the right rear door. I followed the advice in this forum and re-inserted the plastic pin. A few weeks later it popped out. I re-inserted it again this time with some glue. It held for a few months before popping out again. I bought a new pin from the dealer but the new pin fits so tight it is impossible to insert it into the hole at the base of the window. Maybe I don't have enough experience jamming things into tight holes, but I suspect there is a special trick needed to insert the pin. I can see why the old pin kept popping out since it wasn't tight enough to keep it secure. How to Insert brand new Plastic Pin in Regulator?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2008 2.0t 6mt. A few months ago I started hearing a rattle coming from either the area under the rear window or in the trunk coming from the right side. It's not just a little rattle like a screw is loose... It sounds like a large hunk of metal or plastic is flopping back and forth. It's most noticeable at low speeds on rough roads and I think it's gotten louder over time. I recently moved to Richmond VA and the roads here are horrendous. It's not a faint noise either. Each time I drive with somebody new, its the first thing they notice. Folding the rear seats down definitely makes the rattle louder. I can sorta reproduce the sound when I rock the car back and forth.

So last night I go to pick up my daughter and the doors are unlocked but her door won't open. I try from the outside and no luck. I get in the back on the driver's side and the lock button is on. I open the door with some difficulty and it opens. It's been fine since.
Today I tried to open that window and the window wouldn't open from my console or from the rear passenger side switch.
I recently installed replacement speakers in the two rear passenger doors in my 2014 Passat. During the installation the power window switches broke. How difficult is the replacement. I have been looking for a video or tutorial on how to potentially fix this myself. The dealership wants 165.00 a door to fix.

We are on the highway now and I noticed for the first time some very annoying wind noise coming from the rear headliner between the door and the small window. It almost sounds as if the widow is opened a crack but I checked.
View 5 RepliesMy buddy just picked up a 2007 passat 2.0t. Upon bringing it home and locking it we noticed the horn didn't beep indicating an active alarm. I discovered the rear passenger door wasn't locking, and when opening it, even though the alarm was activated, the alarm didn't go off. The door unlock/lock switch as well as the window switch both aren't working. Can't open the window from the driver's door switch either.
I'm guessing it's probably something to do with the power to the door since it's completely unresponsive. Where would we be able to check if power is going to the door? Also, since the alarm doesn't go off when opened is there a sensor somewhere that says when the door is open and or locked?
