Passat (B7) :: None Of The Plastic Storage Areas Are Lined
Dec 17, 2014
One of the things that kind of annoys me about the B7 is that none of the plastic storage areas are lined. Hence, whenever you put something in them it rattles around when you drive. I was searching the web for a solution and ran across this product: [URL]...............
It is a flocking kit.

Any noted 2.0T, B6 experience/solutions for squeaking/creaking suspension noises seeming to originate from shock/strut tower areas? I purchased new in 2009, 37K mi ago. VW dealer service persons think they hear it sometimes. Been chasing this problem for a year or more, mostly notable in cold weather. Condition evident driving on uneven pavement, dips in the road etc. Passengers ask "what is that squeaking".

My new 2008 2.0T Passat wagon, Lux version has a 20" L x 5" W x 1.5" D space on the inside of the rear hatch behind the license plate with two knobs that you turn to open it. The covering door is hinged and it looks like it might be a space to put something because there are four plastic clips that might be there to retain something. Cannot find any reference to it in the owners manual.

I just bought an 02 GTS and I'm wondering about the instruction manual-sized hole under the steering column. Is it just a coincidence that the manual is a perfect fit, or can I actually store it there?

The only problem I am having with this car is that the sunglass case in the overhead console behind the sunroof controls will not stay shut. It keeps falling open. I suspect it will have to be replaced. I hate to go to the dealer if I don't have to.

The seat in my 2000 gasser Limited is 3" to the right of the steering wheel and lines up with it on the left side. Is that normal?

I was driving down the road and the rpm gauge went crazy. Then it flat lined at zero. The voltage warning light came on then the car stalled. It then wouldn't restart. Tried jump starting and tightening the battery cables. After sitting a while after I tried starting it I heard a sound like a demon grumbling I think it may have been a pump of some sort.

So putting the new extended links on my truck, not sure if they are supposed to be seated flush on both the frame and sway bar itself before tightening them down. This is how they are sitting now --
You can see a little gap between the rubber fitting where the bushing sits and the frame mount. Just wanted to make sure before I torque it down. Its the same on the other side as well. They are sitting flush on the sway bar.

I got a CEL this morning and the car was driving rough, tach bouncing at idle so I popped the hood and the plastic funnel that the oil cap screws into was completely broken off from the top of the engine. I was picking little slivers of plastic from it out of the hole in the pic. Fortunately the oil cap actually screwed into the spot where the plastic cylinder had broken out of. Not sure if that's by design but it worked and the car drove ok after.

I noticed that the coolant in the reservoir has been going low and I've been having to replenish it, in addition to the many different locations of small puddles of fluid under my car. Obviously there must be a leak somewhere. I conducted a pressure test on the radiator and detected a leak on a hose connected to the engine near the water pump was not tight. After tightening I pumped 16 lbs. of pressure and found the second leak; up between the rear valve cover and upper manifold.
My question is can coolant leak from the valve covers or is it coming from the manifold? I'm going to change the valve cover gaskets anyway since repairs need to be done in that area.
What are estimates if taken to a master tech: if manifold is leaking and replacing it along with the valve cover gaskets, or just replacing valve cover gaskets. Located in Indy.

My 2000 GTI and 2001 Passat have dull headlights plastic covers. I did try a kit from autozone with sand papers and a liquid polish without good results - It was a great workout.

I noticed something clunking around in the plastic piece that is on the trunk lid itself - the piece that covers the brake lights. When the trunk goes up or down, there is a distinct noise that is something rolling around in there.
I pulled off the access panel to get to the lights, but is does the rest of it just snap off if I pull at it or use a pry tool?

My Lexus 2013 navigation system seems to be less than reliable when it comes to finding shopping places and even other places. I was directed to a wrong place or residential area quite a few times with my nav system.
I rate the nav system as POOR in my Lexus, I am extremely disappointed and have to use a Garmin GPS to supplement the installed system.
One curious thing.... The software in dated 2011 and the car is dated 2013.

This has happened a few times in the last 3 months. Maybe I'm just beginning to notice or something is wrong with my Prius.
I put the brakes on and all of a sudden it's like I can't stop. Yesterday I thought I was going to hit someone. I have noticed that it is usually if there's a metal object on the street-- a railroad track or manhole cover.

So, I have a clunk that sounds like it's coming from the rear end, almost more of a knocking sound. It sounds to me like the driver's rear, but only hearing it in the driver's seat probably distorts my perception. The sound only occurs over bumps or uneven areas in the road. I've played with the end-links and they seem fine. I can't find anything visually obvious.

Really annoying squeaks on one of the bushing areas. I understand these are known to go bad, and curious if there is any option other than lifting the truck off the frame? 2003 Moutaineer....

The plastic housing on the headlights for my 2001 Passat wagon is really fogging up and yellowing pretty badly. Is there a way to fix the yellowing/fogging? If not, what are good replacement headlights that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'll need the entire assembly, not just the bulb.

I own a 2001.5 Passat and a while ago I noticed that the plastic headlight protectors have this strange rough grime on them that doesn't come off when you wash the car. It is kind of yellow colored. What this stuff is and how I can get it off?
