When I open the drivers side door I hear a mechanical noise like the seat is moving back or sideview mirrors are adjusting, you know that kind of grindy electric mechanical sound. But I don't see anything moving, just hear a motor working? What is moving or supposed to be moving? I have a 2012 2.5L SEL no memory seats.

When I open my door or the driver's side passenger door, there is a thwump or suction- like noise that sounds as if it is coming from the trunk.
I had a repair done a few weeks back and had a loaner 2014 TDI SE, and it had the exact same sound.
I'm unable to open my trunk door with the remote, using the key, or with the switch on the drivers side door. I am also pretty sure it is not frozen shut. Will I need to switch out the complete latch assembly or just need to wd-40 something? This is for a 2000 Passat 1.8T Sedan.

View 4 RepliesFrom inside it works fine. I pulled the interior panel and it looks as if the parts aren't close enough together. There is a white plastic barrel(?) attached to the lever for the exterior handle. When the exterior handle is pulled the white barrel moves down. It looks as if it should strike the lever to activate the spring and release the door. Barely grazes it. Can't seem to get this piece to move closer.
View 1 RepliesI have earlier had problems with my driver's outside door handle which now and then doesn't open the door for a week or two, but then suddenly starts to work as normal again for long periods.
Yesterday one of my children had grabbed the outside door handle while I was operating the remote to unlock the car. After that the outside door handle doesn't work any more. I find it unbelieveable that VW designs a system which doesn't gracefully handle a grabbed handle while operating the central lock.
Anyhow, I took off the outer bottom window seal of the door and immediately saw the brown wire coming from the lock assembly. It is supposed to be straight, but this was loose. Look at this image (wire mirrored from the window):

Most internet tips tells me to slam the door a number of times until the wire returns to its position and all is well - probably until the next time the same thing happens...
I have two scenarios, my driver's door handle which doesn't work now and then, and the rear side door which immediately stopped working after the handle was pulled while I unlocked the car.
In the first scenario I aussume that it would be ok to lube or clean the wire? But what is the cure for the second scenario? Also can I somehow access the other end of the wire (at the lock mechanism end) without completely dismantle the door?
My driver side door has not been working for about a month now. It started gradually opening after a million tried but now it just wont open. Tonight one of my lamps stopped working when I was trying to install HID's. I suspect the fuse is burned out but cant get to it cause the door wont open. How can I get my door open. Need headlights as I get out of work late night and dont want to get pulled over for a headlamp being out.

My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesI heard this noise on my mkIV GTI as well. When I unlock and open the car in the AM I hear a strange "whirring" sound. It sounds like a cell phone vibrating on a hard surface. I don't think anything is broken since it has done this on two different cars. I just want to know what it is. The sound happens as soon as I open the driver-side door.

View 2 RepliesI've just got a 2014 model Hyundai i25 and it has a funny habit. When the driver's door is opened there is a ticking noise (like a light on/off sound). The noise stops when the door is closed. It happens only with the driver's door. This a company car and I checked the others ~ 15. None behaves the same. The local official Hyundai dealer/workshop can't figure it out...
View 2 RepliesI just got home tonight from work and was rolling up the windows and I heard a pop noise and my window fell inside the door. So after some time I got the panel off to the metal plate and took out the two rubber circles pieces and I can see that the front track had a broken plastic clip, after I touched it, it fell inside the door. So after looking into this it seems to be common. So where can I get a replacement piece and how do I install it. I can't seem to get the metal panel off, does it even need to come off or do I install the clip through the little circle hole.
View 12 RepliesEvery time I open then close either of the driver side doors (haven't tried passenger yet), I hear a thumping noise coming from the trunk.
When I opened the trunk to see what it was, the noise stopped. Only with trunk closed does this happen.
Could it be air pressure causing the trunk lid to move? I didn't think the car was that air tight.
So on my 2001 passat v6 the trunk wont open with the switch on the driver door for some reason and it seems the previous owner wanted to fix it and instead messed up and now the rear driver side door wont open even when its "unlocked".

View 9 RepliesJust recently I am having an odd rattle almost echo vibration when I close my driver's side door. I have tried it with the window down a bit and don't notice or get the noise. It almost feels like something is loose or being vibrated around and above the door.
I haven't had much time to look into it closely - It is pretty annoying!!!
Learning how to operate my newly acquired 2004 V8 Phaeton...not too mention convincing me to purchase one. I think I even like its occassional quirkiness, such as TPMS faults - its like it has a personality.
Anyway, I have not found an answer to a problem which started yesterday:
- Rear driver-side door won't operate using outside handle
- Confirmed its unlocked, can open from inside & child locks (not that those should affect it) are off
- No problem opening passenger side rear door
- I think I hear a mechanism in the door moving when I pull the outside handle on the working side, don't hear it on the non-working door
I believe there is a cable which is attached to the door handle which may have come loose. I do have a VW Real Driver Warranty (10 Years)...and although door handles are specifically excluded, I don't think this is likely a "door handle" problem, but rather something inside the door which has broken.
Cannot open drivers side door with remote or key?, i have to climb in through passenger side?, only just back from garage yesterday?
