I know VW's are quirky. When I shut the engine off, around 5 seconds later there comes a funny marble dropping sound from the engine compartment. It sounds as if you were to drop a marble on a table and let it bounce a couple times. I can't figure out what it is.
View 11 RepliesThis just started out of nowhere ... I took a sharp turn and all of a sudden, it sounded like a marble running from the left to the right of the dashboard. Took a turn in the other direction, and the "marble" rolled from right to left.
It is definitely not something that fell into the dashboard, so I feel it must be a component that came loose under the dash. But is there really a "channel" that runs across the length of the dash? Is there a way to access the innards without having to remove the whole dash assembly?
2010 Prius with 100,020 miles on it. Car has had regular oil changes on schedule with M1 0W-20.
Noticed engine rattling/marble sound at low RPM under load a few weeks ago. This is not just when the engine is cold or on startup. Sometimes when hot. It's also not all the time. It's felt/heard over on the pax side. Just wondering where to go (dash/engine mount?). I did download the TSB for rattling but the local dealer has never heard of it even when they asked their tech (?!? How is that possible?). It's a good dealer so that surprises me.
What to look at? No codes so far.
So I've noticed an annoyance with my car lately. I've noticed when I turn either right or left upon starting my car, that i hear a small sound, as if a marble is rolling along the inner windshield but it never runs the entire length of the car to the other side. I have noticed when I make a right turn, it occurs on the right corner of the windshield. When I make a left turn it occurs on the left corner of the windshield. Never runs all the way across the windshield like something is actually rolling along the windshield edge or behind the dash.
View 4 RepliesSqueaks, rattles and anything else that makes noise (other than the stereo and especially my wife) You can imagine my total horror when I went around a corner and I heard what sounded like a marble rolling through the roof or dash of the car. I've been able to replicate it a few times but I have to be cornering pretty hard to get it to do it. I have had 1/2 of the top apart.....3/4 of the dash apart, under the hood, in the glovebox and console as well as underneath the frame and I cannot for the life of me find the source of the noise.

View 16 RepliesI am pretty close to buying a B6 Passat 2.0t, but it has some mods on it. GIAC stage 2, with cat-less 3" down the pipe. the guy says he has tried almost everything he has read to get the light off and its not working. He even has a O2 sensor spacer on it. How I can get it shut off??

View 12 RepliesToday after school I hopped into my car and turned it on, it made a weird clanking kind of sound, but then sounded normal. I turned it off and it did the same thing again. I put the car into drive and it was so slow accelerating. I had my foot to the floor and it was barely catching speed while my rpm was somewhere in the 5000's. I got home and I don't know what to do. ALSO, when my Escape is at a stoplight, it turns off and shows the engine light. What's going on. I had to put my car into park, re-ignite the car and go through, again, acceleration tremendously slow. It is a Ford Escape 2001 XLT with a new engine with 80k miles on it.

On first start up with acceleration I hear what seems to sound like a marble shaking around in my engine/transmission.. It is present when i accelerate and not when I am at a stop position.
It goes away within 2-3 minutes of driving... Timing belt and water pump has already been done. the car has almost 100k
Having an intermittent problem when starting the car.
The car quickly shutting off right after starting while still in Park.
It does not do it all the time, but about every 3rd of 4th start attempt it will do this. If I step on the accelerator, I can avoid the car from shutting off.
The car has 62k miles and spark plugs were replaced at 50k.
I just replaced the interior bulbs with LED's (3 Chip SMD's). The bulbs in the glove compartment and overhead rear lights remain on but the ones under the dash (driver and passenger courtesy lights) turn off within a few seconds. What could be going on.
View 8 RepliesOk I've had this issue since picking up the vehicle back in January. it has gotten worse over the last few weeks. When shutting off the engine and trying to remove the key, I have to wiggle it around in the slot before it would come out. Sometimes I have to push it back in (which starts the engine again) a couple of times before it will come out.
On my previous passat, and on my wife's passat, I simply press it in to shut off the engine, and the key just pops out. no force needed. This only happens after the car has been driving around a little bit. (i.e. if I just start the engine then shut it off without driving it around, the key pops out easily). Local dealer says its normal. If this is normal, then my other two passats are then abnormal?
I am throwing 8 codes.. I drive a 1997 passat glx vr6 and I most recently changed waterpump and maf sensor .. My car keeps shutting off it turns over but does not idle. I can drive it but when I come to stops it shuts off.

I recently bought a 20th and instead of the turbo going SWOOSH it sounds like the gate is opening and shutting rapidly as the pressure is exhausted. What is the cause?
