Passat (B7) :: How To Remove Back Seat For Cleaning
Jan 6, 2014
My son spilled some milk in the back seat yesterday and the smell is horrible.. I need to clean up under the seat. I don't know how to remove the back seat.
I have been trying to remove the back seat but it has 2 locking clicks; one one each side than I can not unlock. The clicks on front were easy to pop but this one on the side does not.

Have a Camry sleep 04 since new. Seems like my daughter spilled something on the back seat and got under the seat...smell like hell! How do I remove the back seat? Tried pulling it up but won't come up or anything. Can't see any screws...they are leather seats, afraid of pulling it harder and breaking something.

How to take out the back seat of the Passat? I'm needing to run a Pioneer IP bus cable to the trunk and it would be easier with the bottom of the rear seat out. I looked in the archives and found a thread saying you just pull up on the bottom. I have pulled up on the bottom of the seat so hard that I'm worried that I will break it. I still can't get it out. Is there something I'm missing?

Is there something I need to do to get the ac to come out of the vents in the back of the arm rest for passengers in the rear like my 1 year old? I looked in the manual briefly and didn't see anything. Am I screwed without climatronic?

The back seat of my B6 rattles (more like a buzzing noise) when going over bumps. It makes that noise over bumps even if the seat is folded down.

Having a problem with water collecting - INSIDE the car- on the floor of the back seat after a rain storm - all the windows were up and the sunroof was closed.

This morning I went to the self serve junkyard to pull some parts, in a hurry to get back to my car I place my tool box that had some oil, grease and dirt on the bottom of it, on to my rear seat.

I just purchased a 99 1.8t and the drivers seat will not lock in place. It slides back and forth. I looked underneath and see the gearing but was wondering if this is a problem to where I need to remove the seat to fix or maybe some thing easier.

So I was doing a little plasti dipping today and in between layers decided to try and clean under the hood. On all the plastic I just used armor all wipes. I didn't take a before pic but I wished it as it was all covered in pollen. Those parts came out great. I was just wondering is there anything I can do to get the metal back to shining?

The headrest of back seat will bend over when fold down the seat. But one of the headrests can't go back to original up position. The dealer has adjusted the cable but this just temporarily fixed the problem. The problem is back again. I will go back to dealer but can they really fix it? Should I ask for a replacement of the whole seat?

I just posted last week that my check engine light was on and the dealer wanted to replace fuel injectors. But after the fuel throttle was cleaned and oxygen sensor was replaced the check engine light went off. However, yesterday the check engine light came back on. I am talking it back to the dealer, in a couple of days. Where can I go to get to get the error codes read so I have them before I go back to the dealer? Around 128,000 runs fine, around 40 miles per gallon. Last time I had the oil change dealer nothing came up on the 30 point inspection.

I went on a trip this past weekend and I guess one of the corners of a box which I put on the passenger's seat had a sticky tab...and it left a smudge on my seat. I can't get it out.
When I try to rub it out, it just makes my finger feel sticky, and I get a friction burn.
I've tried a damp rough microfiber cloth (the kind you use on laptop screens) and I've even tried an upholstry cleaner, which seems to work just a little, but I feel like whatever it is just spreads out.
How do I remove these kinds of weird smudges? (I'm not really looking for a seat cover. I just want the smudge out, or as much "out" as possible without ruining the cloth.)

Is it possible to remove the front passenger seat? Is it just a few bolts? I have to transport my bicycle and it has an extremely long wheelbase (its a recumbent). I basically need the full length of the interior compartment to accommodate it.

How to remove (fully remove) the rear seat headrests from a Golf 7? I never have passengers in the rear seat, and I find that the headrests obstruct my vision (via the interior mirror) out the rear window.
I know that VW configures these headrests so they cannot easily be removed (this to prevent them from unintentionally popping out when someone is adjusting them upwards). I am sure that there must be a 'trick' to getting them out completely, though.
How to completely remove these headrests?

Exactly how do you remove the cover (facia) below the front of the front seat so the battery can be removed. To my knowledge no one has spelled this out on this board.

I collapsed the rear seats this morning, loaded the Treg up with stuff (nothing too heavy) and drove 200 miles. Got home, unloaded stuff and then tried to put the seats back up. The center seat belt is integrated into the passenger side 60% folding seat. But for some reason it's now "locked" as the belts do when the car is in an accident.
Since the belt is tight as it is in the lowered position, it will not allow me to lift up the back portion of the seat. After looking at it in the somewhat narrow view I have from between the floor and the lowered back rest, I can see that when I try to lift the back rest, the belt needs to slack some to allow the seat back to go all the way up. But since it catches, it only allow the seat back to raise about 6" before it's too tight to raise the seat back anymore.
I looked at the mounting bolts for the bottom portion of the belt in the space I can see and I see a 12 point star pattern bolt (not sure of proper name). With my Passat, I was able to find a suitable allen wrench that fits in the 12 point star pattern bolt that controls the back door catch for adjustment purposes. But with this one, I tried both metric and SAE and neither has a close enough match.
The belt locking mechanism allows for about 1" of belt travel before it locks. I've jiggled with the belt trying to get the mechanism to unlock so I don't have to remove the belt anchor point on the floor of the car (which I don't have the right wrench for). Anything I can do with the belt? Or do I just go after getting the right wrench and undoing the anchor to allow more belt slack to reset the belt?

Is there any trick to removing the rear seat bottom, or do I just need to pull each side up with enough force until it pops out? If I get my hand under the edge of the seat there seems to be a decent amount of give to it, but I don't want to break anything...

I was able to unlatch the two white hooks attached to the back of the rear seat and lift the rear seat up to about 45 degrees. What about the front?

So I just did a little simple engine cleaning, didn't even really use a whole lot of degreaser. Any way, the car was smoking a little bit and figured it was normal wet gunk burning off, but then my car started smoking out of the exhaust pretty bad. What this could be!?!?
