Passat (B7) :: Headlights Fogging Up With Moisture / Humidity

Jun 9, 2013

I bought some stock headlights that were retrofitted with projectors. The re-seals seem on but after a decent rain the right side light is completely fogged inside. I have taken the back cap off and it will dry out after a day in the sun but should not do this. What's causing this and is it fixable or not??

Passat (B6) :: Headlights Has Fogging Or Dust

Replacing my HID bulbs, and I thought the the driver lens was just more scratched or rock pitted than the passenger.

However, it appears that their is some fogging or dust inside the lens. It doesn't seem to be actual moisture - it appears almost like a layer of dust or residue - perhaps it had moisture at one time that has evaporated or vented out.

Passat (B5) :: Plastic Housing On Headlights Fogging Up / Yellowing?

The plastic housing on the headlights for my 2001 Passat wagon is really fogging up and yellowing pretty badly. Is there a way to fix the yellowing/fogging? If not, what are good replacement headlights that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'll need the entire assembly, not just the bulb.

Passat (B5) :: Moisture In Headlights?

The water in my B5.5 headlights had been bugging me so I finally decided to do something about it. I disassembled the front end of my car and pulled out both headlight assemblies, and was planning to just take off the clear plastic cover that the condensation sticks to and wipe out the water, like I have on my Saab. But I can't get the plastic cover off. Can you do this with the B5.5 headlight assemblies? How else would I get the water out?

Dodge - Caravan :: 1999 - Moisture In Heating And Cooling System / Windshield Fogging

I drive two 1999 Caravans, a base model and a Sport. With both I have a persistent problem with moisture in the heating/cooling system. When I turn it on, it smells and feels moist (not like coolant), heat or A/C, summer or winter. I have pressure tested, no leaks. I have replaced heater cores, o ring seals, checked the condensate drains for blockages, replaced the metal tubes that go through the firewall on one car. There is no moisture coming from the outside. The windshield starts fogging at about 34 degrees and gets so bad when it is colder that the defroster full on with the A/C on cannot completely clear the inside glass. Really cold (for us) 20s and the windshield is so fogged that driving is scary. When I drive into a cold spot in winter, sometimes the whole windshield will fog in a few moments-- that's with the defroster on.

Touareg :: Headlights Fogging On Inside Of Lens?

The headlights on my 05 V8 (12K mi) are starting to "fog" up a bit on the inside -- and all within the last 200mi or so. The fog doesn't appear to be the result of condensation inside of the lens. Instead, it almost looks like the glass is now dirty and, I'd guess, about 10% opaque immediately in front of the main projectors on both sides. It shows no signs of going away under any conditions. FWIW, the weather has been steady temperature-wise and has been quite dry for the last few weeks.

Prius (2010-12) :: Fading / Fogging White Headlights

This isn't about the condensation build up due to faulty headlights, but the plastic on the headlights seems to be "fogging" white quicker than any other car I've owned. Have this issue on their 2010 Prius? I've only had the car since February of 2010 and already in less than 4 years, the plastic housing is starting to fade white.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Moisture On Headlights Inside The Lens

I recently noticed both of my headlights had a little bit of moisture inside the lens. I'm not sure if it had to do with the HID installation. I remembered I had to make holes on the dust cap but I made sure I closed up the holes with electrical tape after I was done.

Recently (couple hours later) I went to check on the headlights, the passenger side lens seems like it evaporated but the driver side lens has a minor streak of moisture at the bottom. I took pix but i cant upload through my phone. I will post them up on Monday. The climate is constantly changing here in NYC because of the fall season.

Could it be the heat from the HID bulb and the humidity from outside?

Passat (B6) :: Fogging Windows In Morning?

I have noticed that the interior windows fog in the morning after leaving our garage. If the temps are in the 40s-50s, I will have the heater set at 72, outside air coming in, fan set at 1. Within a half mile I have to put the defrost on and engage the A/C. At this point the windows clear, but as soon as I disengage the A/C they fog again. I don't recall having this happen in the past. I have checked to see if there is moisture in the car, such as wet carpets, but everything seems dry. It seems crazy and wasteful to have to engage the A/C at these low temps. Is this normal?

Passat (B5) :: 2004 B5.5 1.8T Moisture In Dipstick Tube?

I have the above passat with the AWM motor. There is signs of moisture in the dipstick tube, but not on the oil fill cap. Now today the plastic dipstick funnel snapped due to being frozen to the dipstick.

Now the dipstick had what looks like lithium grease on it. The car has been slowely loosing coolant. But exhaust is clear, no signs of steam or coolant burning through exhaust.

But if the lithium grease like substance on the dipstick was a oil/coolant mix WHY did it freeze . I use a 50/50 mix of pentofrost SF. According to their lable should be good down to below zero. It has not gotten that cold here yet, even at night.

Why or how I could be getting moisture into the motor? And why is it only visible on/in the dipstick funnel and nowhere else.

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Moisture In Passenger Side Headlight

My 2006 Passat has moisture in the passenger side headlight. Not sure how it got there, or how to get rid of it. The mechanic at the dealership said to drill a hole in the bottom of the light (but that sounds like a BAD idea).

How I can remove the moisture from this without replacing the entire headlight housing? I thought that maybe I could remove the bulb and use a hair dryer on low to try to evaporate the moisture.
