Passat (B7) :: Engine Seems Like It Is Not In Correct Gear When Driving At 40 MPH

My TDI is a week old. just turned over 1000 miles and i have noticed that when driving at 40 mph the engine seems like it is not in the correct gear. i believe its in 5th when i think it should be in 4th. if i change to sport mode the issue goes away. Is this normal?

Camry :: 2004 XLE Pulls To The Left When Driving - Alignment Is Correct

04 Camry XLE, 63k miles. Since we bought this car, it has pulled to the left. I've taken it to two shops I trust and they showed me the report showing that the alignment is correct. This leads me to believe there is a worn joint somewhere that allows the front wheels to aim a bit left when driving. Where would be a good place to start troubleshooting?

Background: So far, I've called Toyota to verify that our car is up to speed on all TSB's and it is.

I've put my hand over the intermediate steering shaft upper joint while my wife moves the wheel side to side. There is some play there, but not much. I'm not sure how much there should be.

Passat (B6) :: Navigation Not Showing Correct Vehicle Location

I got this problem that just seems to have surfaced within the past week. The first time I noticed, I started the car and the navigation showed my position about 12 miles away in the next town over. Now its been doing the same thing nearly every time I start up the navigation. I can correct it sometimes by going into settings/position on map and manually moving the cursor to my correct location. I say sometimes it works, because 50% of the time I can move the cursor to the position I'm at and it will then work just fine but other times the nav will have my heading completely wrong (I'm going north, but nav has me going south) and it will not correct. Sometimes it will just slowly drift off my real position and eventually it won't even be on a road anymore.

Tonight, no matter how many times I tried to correct the nav by moving the cursor, it kept my heading well off of where it should be, practically 180 degrees from the way I was actually going. So as soon as I started moving again the maps would be totally off.

I have a car Passat 2001 V6 and I need to know as changing the timing belt and the pump of water. Do I also need to know which the correct position of the timing belt is? As I know that this in the correct position and that the motor won't suffer damage. I wanted they could send me a diagram to see better as it is or that I use of reference to put it.

On my way home from work thursday my gear display was blacked out. gears 1-3 work normal but i do not have 4 and 5 and no tip mode. car work find before i got to work.the crappy part is my car has low miles under 90k and i take very good care of it.

Passat (B5) :: Makes Horrible Noise - Can't Get It Into Driving Gear

I got this car off of a friend of mine who drove it drunk until the noise from the back wheel was too loud to handle. about 30 miles. he changed the "wheel" put on the spare and drove it for about another month.
during that time, the shifting began to get a little "iffy". he then brought it in to get the brakes done, and as soon as it came off of the lift . it wouldn't go into gear. instead it just makes a horrible noise from the area of the "output shaft" or where i would assume the prop shaft " flange" would be.

that being said. Every once in a while you can get it to go into gear. just by continually putting it from park to drive. and when it goes into gear the noise stops and it drives "fine" but only for about 30 seconds. and then it pops back "out of gear" and makes the noise again.

Passat (B7) :: TDI Transmission Not Shifting To 6th Gear When Driving Down The Highway

I've been noticing that my 2012 Passat TDI with 125,000 miles, hasn't been shifting to 6th gear when driving down the highway. I've actually noticed it's one gear too low even when driving down city streets. We have been experiencing extreme cold weather in Pennsylvania, so perhaps that's a factor.

If I manually shift to 6th gear, it stays in gear, but it appears that the engine RPMs are a bit lower than usual as well, but I could be wrong there.

Passat (B5) :: 1999 - After Driving Up A Hill Car Seems To Have Difficulties Shifting Into Next Gear On Its Own

My passat is a 1.8t automatic with roughly 170k on it and lately i have been encountering some issues with the tranny. I have had this problem for a while and as of late it seems to be getting worse (especially with the AC on????). After driving up a hill the car seems to have difficulties shifting into the next gear on its own, typically 2nd to 3rd but sometimes 1st to 2nd, sometimes I even have to switch over to the triptronic and up shift manually.

Also when i am driving along in 4th or 5th and encounter a hill the car doesn't want to downshift on its own without giving it some pedal play, or sometimes I have to play the same game and switch over to the triptronic and downshift manually (hoping to save to tourqe converter). I dont know much about the tranny on this car, but i do know that their not cheap!

Recently it feels like the transmission is 'hunting' drops a gear, picks up a gear when driving constant speed on flat roads. 2.0T with tiptronic. Additionally, very intermittent, the car will get a shimmy around 48-50 mph. feels more transmission related and it is not the tires since it is an intermittent issue.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Check Engine Light Came On When Driving In 3rd Gear

I recently got a 2001 Mk4 GTI from carter Volkswagen in Seattle with 113k on it last friday (it did come with the car fax). I drove it back home to Wenatchee and it ran fine and is still running fine... I think. Today as i was coming home from school the check engine light came on when i was in 3rd gear and the car just wasn't driving as smooth as it was the first day (it felt as if i was driving over really really small bumps or like something was loose and was moving around a lot).

When I would get to a red light and be in first gear the light went off but it came back on as i would shift into 3rd and stayed on when i got into 5th. It recently had its oil changed at 112,000 miles. Also when the car is just idling the tachometer is going up and down a little bit, it is idling at about 600-700 rpms. I got this car because i didn't want to have a car with problems any more (I had an 88 Isuzu Trooper before).

Passat (B6) :: When Put In Any Gear Car Does Not Move At All And Engine Just Revs Up

So tonight my wife got off work at 7pm, she gives me a call and tells me she is on the side of the road. I was like wtf, what happened....anyways long story short I drive 30 miles out, by that time tow truck just arrived and flat beds the passat wagon to dealership.

So what my wife told me she got off work, drove about 2-3 miles down the road and then lost power and she pretty much came to a stop. Then she called me. Then tow truck came and towed it it dealer.

So issues I noticed, car starts fine, no engine lights on, but when you put in any gear, drive, reverse, sport mode etc. car does not move at all and engine just revs up. I'm think thing torque converter or something but really have no clue. Anyways tow truck tows car to dealer I start back up car and for f same car has power again can go forward, can go backwards! Yeah right, so I said let me see if I can drive around the block, so get in car start driving and then the power starts to fade and only drives about 100 feet before the lack of power happens and start to come to a stop. I did notice some slight grinding noise but by that time I wasn't moving anymore.

So we park in an open spot(had to push the beast) and then went home and here I sit and type my problem. What is going on and why all of a sudden without any notice this would happen. It has been a great car for us and we just had it in the dealer on Tuesday for oil change and they said everything looks good besides your rear pads are getting low... This just really sucks and couldn't of happened at a worse time. Just don't understand why the 2.0t transmission would do this all of a sudden. I pray that we don't need a new one replaced.

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Engine Light While Driving And 2nd Gear Taking Time Shifting - Thump On Transmission

O.K. first of all I had an issue with the Odometer pointer being jumpy. Sometimes it wouldn't move. Now I replaced the input sensor at first and did not fix the problem. I replaced the output sensor and fixed it. "BUT", Now, I have a problem with the transmission shifting. I get an engine light while driving and the 2nd gear seems to take its time shifting and when it does it make the left side drive shaft kick in hard and spends my wheel to a screeching effect. Plus a thump on the transmission. I rechecked the sensor for connection and reinstalled. Drove the car still have the same issue?

I started smelling smoke after driving, so i open up the hood and theres smoke coming out near the engine....just to the right side...my temp read 190 which is where it supposed to be so where could this smoke be coming from? Passat (B5) :: Car Died While Driving / Engine Was Not Able To Rev Up In Drive

While driving at night, my battery and break light came on on the dashboard. About 50 minutes later, my car can no longer travel faster than 5mph. The engine was not able to rev up when it is in Drive, but it was able to rev up the when I put it in Park or Neutral. Finally it died, while traveling at 5mph.

Had a friend jump started the car, but was not able to travel over 5mph. Then it died shortly.

So is this the alternator? I'm hesitant to think it is the alternator, because the engine was able to rev up when it is in Park and Neutral.

Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Engine Just Died While Driving

So I am driving down the highway and the engine stopped. It will turn over, but it will not start. Vagcom did not reveal any issue related to this problem. We pulled the fuel line and no fuel came out when I cranked it again. Could this be a fuel pump or a relay related to the fuel pump? Let me know what you think this could be.

Passat (B5) :: MIL Check Engine Light Came On While Driving And Stayed On

So, for the first time in 6 years and 82K miles, the engine light (malfunction indicator light) came on while driving and stayed on (no blinking... knock on wood). This is about a week after passing the emissions test. I turned the gas cap three ticks, so I'm hoping that the light will go off in a few days.

The manual seems to say that if it blinks you should proceed at reduced power and get it checked out immediately. Do I have to drive slow if it's not blinking? I'm a good two hours from home and I'd prefer to drive at my normal pace. This is probably nothing, right?

I drive a 2000 VW Passat 1.8T. The car has about 93K on it. One day I was driving downtown and my ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON telling me low oil pressure STOP THE ENGINE before I could stop the engine the damn thing went dead and wouldn't start back, but it sounded like it wanted to start I never had this happen to me before so I got it towed to a VW dealership they were like I have never seen this happen before so they did what they normally do and came back and said that they cannot fine anything wrong and told me that they have a guy that comes in like twice a week and know everything about those type of car and he should know what the problem is?

Passat (B5) :: 2003 - When Driving At Constant Speed The Engine Surges About Once Every Second Or Two

We have a 2003 Passat GLX, 43000 miles, V6, AWD. I've noticed recently that when driving at constant speed the engine will surge about once every second or two. It's very regular, and on a smooth road I can also notice a bump in the drive train, very similar to road bumps.

I've taken it to a dealer, since I believe it is a transmission issue, and therefor covered under warranty. There are no computer codes stored for faults in the transmission, they've said. However, they started by pursuing the fuel injection system (though no code was stored), and then wanted to fix a faulty coolant sensor (since found not to be faulty).

I was driving my car when suddenly I felt a huge shudder and my engine light flashed on. Ford - Explorer :: 1997 - Idles While Driving / Jumps In And Out Of Gear While Driving

I have a 97 Ford Explorer. I bought it in 07 and it was nice until like 2 years ago when it started to give me doubts. It never died on me,yet, but everyday when I first start it for the day, if I put it in gear right away, it will stay idle for a while and then kick into gear and just jump. I would drive but it keeps kicking off and on until it is warmed up, I guess because it goes away. Oh and also the OD light would come on also. I just need my truck.
