Passat (B7) :: Disable Automatic Door Locking When Car Reaches Speed?
Apr 2, 2013
Is it possible to disable the automatic door locking when the car reaches speed via VCDS. So the actuators don't wear out so quickly.

View 4 RepliesI'm slowly reading through the ES-350 manual, picking and choosing parts to read. There are several 'Personalized Preferences' that I've noted down and will have addressed at my 1st month service.
I noticed on pg. 21 of the manual that there are settings to set and cancel the door-locking/unlocking functions. These functions are also mentioned in the 'Personalized Preferences' section, so there is overlap here (on paper anyways).
Anyways I tried a couple of times to follow the instructions on pg. 21 to disable the door locking and unlocking when the car is placed in Park and Neutral.
It didn't work for me. The instructions aren't all that clear to me, nor of what they are supposed to accomplish. I'd like to not have the doors lock when I place the shift out of Park and not have the doors unlock when I place the shift into Park.
I was told by the Lexus service dept. that they could do it for $30, so I was wondering if there was a way to do it for less money or no money at all. It's for a 2004 RX 330.
View 11 RepliesAutomatically lock doors 30 seconds after exiting car. I have found a maker of a simple module that can be easily added under the dash with five wires. easy to install and does NOT require integration into the databus (CANbus) system. Installed on 2011 GenIII currently.
The processor looks for the (+) ignition to be turned on, then waits for it to go back off. It then looks at the (-) door pin input and waits for the door to open then close again. At that point, there is an LED output that starts flashing slowly for 20 seconds. During this 20 second period the processor is monitoring both the ignition input and the door pin input - if either of them toggle their state the timer pauses, then starts over once both signals are clear.
After 20 seconds the module outputs a short beep through an external hood mounted beeper and then the LED starts flashing quickly for 10 seconds, while the processor continues to monitor the inputs (and resets to the very beginning if something changes). At the end of this 10 second period the module outputs a (-) door lock signal. Finally, the LED output flashes at a slow rate to simulate an aftermarket security system.
LED and beeper optional when installing.
Is there a programming sequence that will keep my 2002 Camry from locking all doors when the vehicle is put in drive/reverse. I realize this is considered a safety feature but I prefer to lock them myself.
View 10 RepliesEver since I installed my L.e.d. lights in my doors the automatic door lock once moving keep locking like 3 times. I don't know why this would happen I didn't touch anything I shouldn't have. Why this would be happening.
View 11 RepliesHow I can disable the horn toot each time I want to lock the car? The lights flashing is sufficient I think.
View 14 RepliesCan I disable the automatic door lock mechanism? Maybe pull a fuse? All of a sudden the locks start locking and unlocking over and over and the lights dim. I would like to disable the automatic and use the key to lock and unlock the doors. It is a 2002, F-250-Super Duty 4x4 SuperCab.
View 5 RepliesI just brought home my new 07 2.0T Wagon and need info with the speed warning function. The dealer set it to 0.0 mph when showing me the car and now whenever I start the car and back up, drive away it says speed warning exceeded. I then press the OK button and it goes back to normal MFD mode. How do I disable or turn off the speed warning, I thought I did what the manual said but it will not go away (when I first start the car).
View 3 RepliesIs it possible through VAG-COM to disable them on 2006 passat? Going to be having my second son soon and both car seats are going to be right next to them. I've never had any bad luck when it comes down to airbags going off. Still don't want to risk my sons safety. Also not sure but would this need to be done at a dealership because of a lawsuit possibility?
View 8 RepliesMy fob doesn't close my driver door there for it doesn't beep. So I did some searching and I didn't find anything beyond just slamming the door which i did and it didn't fix it. I took the door apart and i couldn't take the inner metal panel to inspect the lock. How to take the inner metal panel out?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Camry (4 cylinders). About two weeks ago, I started to notice vibration on the passenger side of the car, front side, when the car reaches a certain speed (around 30-40 mph). At first I thought it was a wheel inbalance, so I took it to the Toyota Dealership and have them re-balance the wheels.
The problem, however, did not go away. I remember a while back after I got an oil change, the maintenance guy at the dealership mentioned that the motor mounts were going bad. Is it possible that bad/worn motor mount can cause vibration at certain speeds? The problem only occurs on the passenger side.
I do not notice vibration at idle (I think). I will have to drive the car again to double check this. But vibration is much more apparent when the car hits 30 mph+.

Noticed a couple times recently when I went back to my car that the door was unlocked as if I forgot to lock.
Played with it a little more today and realized when I'm pressing on the handle or the fob to lock the doors that 3/4 doors are locking - but not the driver's. Give it a couple tries with unlocking and locking and eventually I can get all 4 to lock. All will unlock just fine when I grab the handle.
I re-set the convenience features to factory settings hoping that would work but no dice. Is there a simple solution? Would rather not disassemble the door to blindly test the locking module.
My 2013 Passat has some issues with the door locks. I'm at 92k kms now and no longer under full warranty. In June 2015, I had the locks fixed with the local VW dealer, while under warranty - 2 doors were failing to lock/unlock using the remote and would regularly attempt to lock while driving (could hear the motors in each door and lock light wouldn't light up as usual).
I no longer drive the vehicle regularly, it's essentially my gf's car now. She mentioned a couple weeks ago that the rear passenger side door wasn't locking, though the lock alarm still beeps. No motor sound this time. And again, while driving it constantly tries to lock the doors around 10-20kph (no light on locks shows up confirming locked).
So essentially it's been just over a year since the issue was fixed. According to the dealer it's an electronic issue and costs that much because the locking component in each door has to be replaced. Doesn't make sense to me if its electronic...
I haven't spoken to VW myself yet but it all sounds off to me. I'm a diesel mechanic and don't know a whole lot about the electrical side but why would I have the same issue in back to back years on something like door locks?
Also sounds like the heated mirrors might not be working. Is it a failed actuator on the driver side maybe?
I have a 05 Touareg V6. When coming to a stop (when speed reaches 5 mph or less) there is a slight vibration felt in the steering wheel. What causes this? What can I do to correct this? (I had new rotors and brakes put on about 2K miles ago.
View 1 RepliesIts an electrical issue.
I have a couple issues that have been bothering me lately. The drivers door lock is intermittent to lock when trying to lock it with the remote or the auto locking when going a certain speed. To get it to lock, I either have to unlock the entire car with the door switch then it will lock with the switch, or unlocking the car with the remote before hitting the lock button. It will also relock itself even if I opened the door and is sitting in the seat, just like if you unlock it and don't open the door it relocks.
My car alarm horn is not working, either with the alarm going off, in panic mode, or when hitting the lock button twice.
I also am having issues with the drivers side window, the only way it goes down is if you press the button all the way down to automatically go all the way down. If I try to go down without going all the way, when I press the button it goes up.
And last but not least, after replacing a wheel bearing last night when I got home, the interior light wouldn't work with the door until I locked it and unlocked it with the key but afterwards it worked again
The car is a 2000 1.8t with 221,000 miles auto no modifications except euroswitch.
I was recently experiencing problems with my front brakes. It sounded like it was grinding on something (it doesn't screech) whenever the speed reaches below 15 mph. I called up my dealer to take a look and upon investigation they told me that i needed to do the front brakes job but they could save the rotor (they charged me around $300). Is this common ? It is a daily driven car and i mostly drive on highways. I drive the 2014 RWD IS-350 F-sport model and just recently hit 17.8K miles.
View 14 RepliesI have a grinding sound comes from the front of my car when the speed reaches 60 miles, what can cause this sound.also i have a popping sound when putting the gear in reverse is that related?
View 1 RepliesCouldn't find anything in the manual about changing the settings to avoid the doors locking automatically when I reach 10 mph. I realize I'll eventually get used to it but until then it's driving me nuts.
