Passat (B7) :: Can't Download Music From CDs And DVDs Onto HDD System
Nov 12, 2011
I have tried downloading music from CDs and DVDs onto the HDD included in my car's Fender audio system, but can't seem to get it to work. I read the owner's manual several times and repeatedly followed the steps for burning CDs onto the HDD - with no luck!

I have been wanting to try to put some music on the HDD system. I have looked at the manual and cant find instructions on how to record the CDs into the HDD system . All it does it give you instructions on hoe to play music and that it.
I have close to 7000 CDs and my wife was never able to get them all onto our computer so I figured I could put some of those rare gems on the HDD system.

How do you play your mp3 music? I just spoke to a Toyota rep, he was rude, he was telling me my flash drive is not compatible with toyota audio. He said I need to buy 8GB flash drive anything else will not work and I CAN'T use folders. "All this information is listed in your owner's manual" ...
I think the current audio system is a big step back, its limitation reminds me of the $9.99 mp3 players. I was always able to use a 32GB stick, put my songs in folders, or at least be able to select the songs from a playlist. And when I started my your car again, the system would still remember my playlist. I did not have to wait 5 minutes for "gathering information" every time and than spend another 5 minutes looking for the album or composer I want to listen to.

I have a 2003 Excursion with the factor DVD player. I am having trouble getting copied DVD's to play. I keep getting the "Bad Disk" message. I have tried both +R and -R formats and I am burning Maxell brand media with the "One Click" software. BTW the disks play on my wife's 2007 honda.

I have a 2010 Premium with rear DVD (Lexus) installed. Almost all DVDs stop playing...just with normal DVD wear and tear no major scratches or gouges or dirt. They play in all my other non-vehicle machines with no problems. They have already replaced the first player and the second is actually worse. Also, it will non play and DVDs that I have burned without stopping after about 2 minutes into the movie...again...they play on all my other machines.

2013 F-250. Sync. No navigation. I am able to pair my Android cell phone to the truck and all works fine. Can send and receive calls using the voice commands etc. I am also able to play music from my bluetooth enabled LG V10 android cell phone. When I start the truck, it automatically detects my cell phone, connects to it and begins playing music from my cell phone through the truck stereo. And therein lies the problem.
My question is, is there a way to tell the truck to go ahead and connect to the cell phone, but don't start playing music. In other words, I don't want the truck to launch the music player on my cell phone. I always have to either turn off the player on my cell phone or give the "pause" command through bluetooth audio.

I have that little telephone button on my steering wheel and I have the little speakers by the reading lights and turning knob for the sun roof. Does this mean that I have the blue-tooth connection or do I have to add other parts. If I do have to add other parts, why are the speakers there and the telephone button on the steering wheel?

I have a passat B5 2.3 VR5 with aircondition and I have been thinking about to build a climatronic system in the car I did have a climatronic in my old passat B5 V6 TDI and I was so happy about it, The refit part are not the hardest thing, but what about the wiring part? do people rebuild their own wiring system, or is there made a wire kit to the climatronic system.

So CEL came on a few weeks ago as it does here and there so got it scanned today and it said "cooling system too lean" could it just be the mods throwing the light. car is tuned so i thought cel wasn't suppose to come on and no mods to the cooling system beside cold air intake..

My MIL came on the other night so I brought it to the dealer today for diagnosis.
Per tech, "Found 1 DTC P2181 for cooling system malfunction, checked measuring values, found thermostat sticking open.
Recommendation is to replace thermostat with housing." I have 95K miles on the car, original owner...first time in a long time to have an issue.
The SA indicated the thermostat replacement. The tech indicated the thermostat is in the front of the engine which is hard to access.

So I am not using NAVIgation and I still see the maps with my car location on the screen. The one option I see is where I can also show the audio info. So if a song plays it shows the station and song details on the right side half..The left side half is still the maps. I don't want to see maps when I am NOT navigating to a certain destination I programmed. I know it should be simple but cannot find the settings.

My wife usually has her iPhone with Bluetooth turned on. If I am driving and she gets a call, the radio is muted while she is talking on the phone. Even if she switches the audio source to iPhone and not the speaker, it takes away my music! I guess there is no way around this?

I noticed about a week ago (on a cool morning) that my Climatronic system would not blow heat. I played around with it briefly by adjusting the temp settings and how the blower was working.
If I set the temp to High heat would blow out for like a minute but anything else would just blow cold air.
If I set the temp to High and turn Econ on I would get hot Air.
No other settings would generate heat. I VAG Commed my car and there were not fault codes!!!
I took my car to my normal indie shop and they also were puzzled by this. They re-ran a vag com and nothing for them either. The heater core was flushed recently with the resting of my coolant system when my TB was done.
There is no sign of leakage for the heater core but I'm super puzzled to what the problem may be.

I don't have to VAG-COM to clear any codes do I? I read some one with a Toureg had to clear a low AC fluid/gas warning to get the compressor to come on again.
Some one told me I was all out of AC fluid/gas because when the AC was turned on my car did not lose RPM at idle or power if the car was being driven. Is this man correct?

I've had my 2000 V6 Passat in for service three times with Secondary Air System issues - the dealer said that the whole thing needed replacement. The indy shop identified a couple of things to repair but said total replacement was unnecessary. A secondary airs system valve has been replaced twice (same one both times). Check engine always comes on within a day - we took it to another dealer for their opinion and again. Said that I need to replace the valve (third time!).
